"One correct fact concerned Meier's international retirement, although this happened because the 45-year-old reached the age limit for referees.

I wish the NFL would adopt this policy instead of having AARP members doing the games.

The hacker posted the message in English, prompting Swiss media to speculate that a disgruntled England fan may have been responsible.

Or maybe the fact that he disallowed England's goal which pissed off the English fans???

That's seriously just sad. I love sports close to the point of ridiculousness, but I can even realize it's just a game. Death threats and the sort are just pathetic.

Can't wait for someone to hack into the Yankees' site and post an apology for Alex Rodriguez, for bringing the A-Rod curse to the Yankees.

-Left Seattle in 2000, Seattle returns to playoffs

-Left Rangers in 2004, Rangers come close to taking West crown.
-Joins NY Yankees, and ...

Cheating Swiss bastard should hang.

UEFA and FIFA want England out of every tournament as early as possible because of the (mostly past) reputation of the fans. Get England out, the fans go home and the rest of Europe sleeps easier under their beds.

Add to that the blatant favouritism towards the hosts - can't have them not reaching the final can we, even though they are shiate.

Those two factors added together (in a 'Perfect Storm' stylee scenario) meant that England would get absolutely no benefit of the doubt.

England won that day. Cheating Swiss bastard.

Rot in hell.

Q: You are locked in a room with a tiger, a bear, and Urs Meier. You have a gun with only two bullets. What should you do?

A: Shoot Urs Meier. Twice.
