I would have made the headline something like "it's a sad sad day in new york, which sucks because there's one hell of a party going on in boston"
2004-10-21 12:54:09 AM
As an Eagles fan, I think it is fair to remind the Yankees fans that ...

"There is always next year."
2004-10-21 12:54:16 AM
YEAH! Now we can get back to America's TRUE national pastime, Football.

Seriously though, nice work Boston. Lets try not to choke in the series.
2004-10-21 12:54:19 AM

So now Clemens gets a chance to beat the Red Sox in the World Series?

Either that, or former Red Sock Jeff Suppan.

Crash and Burn, biatches!!! Pwned hardkore.

So very liberating, refreshing, and revitalizing to see calls made in favor of someone other than the Yanks. So gratifying and uplifting to see Yanks fans standing with pursed lips, furrowed brows, clasped hands.
History was made, and it was made all over your ASS. You now have all Winter to remove the Size 12 that is currently buried to the instep in your rectum.
W00T!! GO SOX!!!!

CrazyCurt says

"Baseball haters -- you can say you heard all about it all over the Internet and radio and try to explain to your grandchildren how you were such an elitist jerk you missed the greatest accomplishment in team sport history.

This trumps '80 USA hockey team."

This was truely a great accomplishment and a historical game and series (even if it wasnt much of a game) That said, I would have to disagree. The 1980 usa hockey team beating the russians is a greater achievement then this comeback. The Americans were all college kids, while the Russians were a professional hockey machine. The Yankees would have had to of dropped a 3-0 lead to a college team.
Not to take away from this achievement, this a great sports moment regardless of which team you support.
2004-10-21 12:54:46 AM
Any guesses on how soon Torre will be fired?
2004-10-21 12:54:46 AM
I wish Boston and the Cubs would hurry up and win the damn World Series just so I don't have to listen to any more shiate about the curse of the babe or the curse of the goat or the curse of your mama ever again.

/I don't care what you say, nothing beats the misery of being a ChiSox fan.
2004-10-21 12:54:55 AM
Not a big baseball fan, yet stayed up to watch this one. Congrats to Boston and their fans. To the Yankee fans, FIRST EVER comeback from 0 and 3 start. Stop being babies and respect the sport, team, effort, and accomplishment.
2004-10-21 12:55:21 AM
Great game Boston -- #2 Payroll beats #1 payroll -- Sox just as 'evil', they just don't win as often when it counts.

/'As often" now has to be inserted after "win" in the previous phrase
2004-10-21 12:55:25 AM
2004-10-21 12:56:04 AM
go boston... for now. Just wait for Barry Bonds next season, he's gonna be slammin some homers. GO GIANTS
2004-10-21 12:56:15 AM
Man, I dont know how much Steinbrenner paid his team, but I would have lost to the Red Sox for half that amount.
2004-10-21 12:57:09 AM

MatterEaterLad -- I heard that too about predicting the election, and it could be right. Except if the BoSox win it all, the whole Eastern Seaboard will go on a five-month bender and no one will turn out on Election Day!
2004-10-21 12:59:04 AM
There is no curse!
UnFARKing believable!
A-Fraud made the wrong choice in a BIG way.
2004-10-21 12:59:48 AM
The crappiest thing for me is that right now I'd be immersed in hockey but now I have to follow baseball to get my sports fill. Well, the NBA starts soon...

As a Detroit Tiger fan, I'm forced to pick a real team every year to root for. This year (like last) it was the Sox!

Go Sox! I've been rooting for them all year...especially since they got rid of Nomar.

Hopefully, they'll have something left in the tank for the Cards or Astros.
2004-10-21 12:59:57 AM
I want to make sure everyone realizes that I called the Curse of MANAKKANAKANWIVCIVICH last night after A-Rod decided to cheat his way to victory. The Yankees have been made of ass ever since!
2004-10-21 01:00:02 AM

and one more thing, f-u A-Fraud and Buttboy Jeter

/Go Sox
2004-10-21 01:00:05 AM
Yeah this was a great achievement but saying this beats the 1980 usa olympic hockey team is kind of taking it a bit too far.

In related news:

Sinclair Broadcasting to run documentary on John Kerry's Boston roots in New York.

2004-10-21 12:13:59 AM Collusive Acumen

Fark off, man. Do you not realize the historical significance of what happened tonight?

Not only that, but baseball is the best sport there is. Shameful headline.
2004-10-21 01:01:35 AM
What's the deal with everyone predicting the Cards automatically making the World Series? You do realize that Jeff Suppan is facing Clemens tomorrow night, right? Jeff farking Suppan.

Yeah, I know. That 3.40 career postseason ERA of Clemens just blows away Sup's 3.46. Big margin.

His 16 regular season wins? Not even, like, within ten wins of Clemens' 18. Not even close.

Clemens is better. Clemens is the HOFer. No one can debate that. But this idea that Suppan can't beat Clemens is bullshiat. No, the Cards don't have this thing wrapped up, but the idea that Sup can't win is silly.

liquid00meth - didn't UNH invent "the riot" anyway? ehe
I don't live far from UNH and I hear all about it.
I can't imagine this weekend in Boston, between the Pat's going for number 21 (yeah baby) and the sox working it for the world series, it ought to be fun down there.

I wanna see some riot action in new york, anything like LA in '91?
2004-10-21 01:02:33 AM
...and this series was about as far from boring as you can get.
2004-10-21 01:02:38 AM
Please, everyone knows that hockey, soccer, and cricket are the most boring sports ever invented.

Everyone knows that if it wasn't invented in the States, it's considered boring by Americans.

/Headline and Yankees suck

Tessie is the Royal Rooters rally cry
Tessie is the song they always sung
Tessie echoed April through October nights
After serenading Stahl, Dineen and Young
Tessie is a maiden with the sparkling eyes
Tessie is a maiden with the love
She doesn't know the meaning of her sight
She's got a comment full of love
And sometimes when the game is on the line
Tessie always carried them away
Up the road from Third Base to Huntington
The boys will always sing and sway

Two! Three! Four!

Tessie, Nuff Ced McGreevy shouted
We're not here to mess around
Boston, you know we love you madly
Hear the crowd roar to your sound
Don't blame us if we ever doubt you
You know we couldn't live without you
Tessie, you are the only, only, only

The Rooters showed up at the Grounds one day
They found their seats had all been sold
McGreevy led the charge into the park
Stormed the gates and put the game on hold
The Rooters gave the other team a dreadful fright
Boston's tenth man could not be wrong
Up from Third Base to Huntington
They sang another victory song

Two! Three! Four!

Tessie, Nuff Ced McGreevy shouted
We're not here to mess around
Boston, you know we love you madly
Hear the crowd roar to your sound
Don't blame us if we ever doubt you
You know we couldn't live without you
Tessie, you are the only, only, only

The Rooters gave the other team a dreadful fright
Boston's tenth man could not be wrong
Up from Third Base to Huntington
They sang another victory song

Two! Three! Four!

Tessie, Nuff Ced McGreevy shouted

Hear the crowd roar to your sound
Don't blame us if we ever doubt you
You know we couldn't live without you
Boston, you are the only, only, only
Don't blame us if we ever doubt you
You know we couldn't live without you
Red Sox, you are the only, only, only

How sweet was Damon's grand slam off his first pitch?

To whomever posted the headline for this entry, fark You. Baseball is one of the greatest sports ever, if you can't appreciate it SHUT THE HELL UP!!! This series just disproved your headline.

Hey Yankee fans,

Congratulations on the greatest choke in the history of the sport, and it was completed in Yankee Stadium. All the better!

This was great.

Go Red Sox!!!!!
2004-10-21 01:04:04 AM
Trolling for farkheads is on Fark is a lot more boring than watching the team that you watched with your Dad have a chance of winning the World Series while you're both alive.

Screw sports apathy, if you don't give a shiat about it then don't post it.
2004-10-21 01:04:08 AM

/just saw the HUGE crowd live on the news
2004-10-21 01:04:19 AM
...and all it took was knocking the teeth outta the poor bastard who lives in Babe Ruth's last Boston home with a pop-up ball...

as the drunken Southie yelled into beautiful Jane Yamamoto's ear on live tv from a pub in Santa Monica, "this shiat's the best!!"
2004-10-21 01:04:31 AM
Go Boston.

Excellent. :) Not really a baseball fan myself, but that was pretty awesome to listen to.
2004-10-21 01:05:39 AM
yeah; its bedlam at fenway.. riot police vs. college students
2004-10-21 01:06:24 AM
So, if Boston loses the World Series and Kerry loses the election, is there ANY chance we can get Mass. to secede from the Union???? PLEASE?!?!?!?!?!?
2004-10-21 01:06:26 AM
One commetator put it as "It was a record, all records get broken, and tonight the Red Sox did it." . I would not compare it to others, I just give them props for doing it.
2004-10-21 01:07:08 AM
How is a riot in the streets NOT news? whatthefarkdotcom
2004-10-21 01:08:25 AM
Ah, another Boston circlejerk thread. I've come to expect nothing less on Fark.

If there are any Boston fans with class still out there... your team was the better, and I tip my hat.

2004-10-21 01:08:43 AM
Fark the headline and it's writer.

/And your daddy is...
2004-10-21 01:08:43 AM
So...why does it bother so many of you that the Yankees have the biggest payroll? If they want to overpay their players, so what? Obviously paying through the nose for the "best" doesn't pay off--so why care? After all, looks like the Yanks are just keeping your benches clean of the whiny babies in MLB, if I'm reading you Yankee haters posts correctly...
2004-10-21 01:09:34 AM
The Red Sox were does make it sweeter going through New York.

Hopefully Roger is next.
