I'm not near a tv, can someone tell me if the rioting has started yet? Boston or NY, either one is fine.

/go 'stros

Usually I don't watch too many baseball games, but this is one I had to pay attention to. I don't care for the Yankees, but I expected them to win.

I'm speechless.

After a massive win earlier in the series (wasn't it 19-8? someone correct me if I'm wrong), they lose it all. Boston, you deserve all the respect in the world tonight.

And on a different note, I can't believe the "Who's your daddy?" chants I was hearing. Again, keep in mind that I don't watch many baseball games. I heard those chants and thought, "My God. That's the lowest class I've ever seen from baseball fans." I've heard of Yankee fans being snobbish, and I have to believe it now. At least, the fans in Yankee stadium, anyway.

One more note to the submitter:

Baseball isn't the most boring sport. That goes to football.

Glorious day! The beast has been slain!

For the Yankees fans:

Soccer hating folk, have you ever watched a (non American) soccer game? Don't let the low scores bore ya. That's what makes it so exciting! When there is a shot on goal, it's a rush since it could be the winner.

Get some history about the two teams, the league, etc, and give it a try.

Or watch the World Cup next time around.
2004-10-21 12:34:47 AM
As a Cubs fan I have never been happier for another baseball team.

/Cubbies in '05!!!!

Well, they'd also have to cast Jesus as Johnny Damon.

They both seem to work miracles.

N-Word JIM

Yeah, Late October to early November could be quite a riot in Texas and Mass if the Astros pull it off... Let's hope!
2004-10-21 12:35:28 AM

This trumps '80 USA hockey team.

You mean a pro baseball team with the 2nd highest payroll beating the pro baseball team with the highest payroll? Oh yeah, that's an inspirational upset for the ages. Or maybe you're referring to winning a series after being down 3-0? That's not unprecedented - it's been done twice before in the NHL. I presume you don't think the 1975 Isles-Penguins series was one of the all-time sports moments for the ages, if you were even aware of it.

The 1980 Olympic team was a group of COLLEGE KIDS, not overpaid professionals, who beat the best hockey team ever assembled. What happened tonight doesn't hold a candle to their accomplishment.
2004-10-21 12:35:29 AM
and the real baseball winner is the guy selling Barry Bonds 700th baseball on

Now at $728,424.00 with 6 days and 13 hours left to bid...
2004-10-21 12:35:30 AM
To all the morons saying baseball is the most boring, soccer is the most boring, etc:

Your opinion is not law. And you have sex with goats.
2004-10-21 12:35:34 AM
Sox still blow. And blow they will in the Series.
2004-10-21 12:35:45 AM
That had to have been the best 4 games of baseball I've ever watched, and I'm a big baseball fan, I can't imagine what it's like to be those guys right now.
Anyone catch that look on A-Rod's (which makes me think of something really mean, but won't go there for now) face, after the sox won? It looked like he wanted to come out of the dugout and kick some arse. Oh well. He'll get some gentle butt pounding from Jeter tonight I'm sure.

Go SOX!!!

/not a classy red sox fan
//hate the yankee's, but i like Mariano he's an alright guy, he's out of the axis of evil.
///a-rod... small di----(crackle) *disconnected*

/yankee fans need to get a new cheer next year when they play the red sox, if Pedro stays on. Who's you daddy is so game 2...

2004-10-21 12:36:21 AM

Who's my daddy?
2004-10-21 12:36:45 AM
The Mets's didn't come back from 3-0.

They had a graphic earlier during the game that had a list of 3-0 comebacks.

Baseball 0-23 (not sure on that one)
Basketball 0-73
Hockey 2-200something?

Not sure, I was already drinking, but the 0-3 record for all sports was something like 2-232ish.

In other words, not good odds.
2004-10-21 12:36:54 AM
So.....not to thread-jack this fine moment...but according to quack prognostigators, this means Kerry wins.

All you Yankee haters shall all burn your souls in Baseball Hell, AKA an Expos-Devil Rays game

/Go Yankees
//Go whoever wins Game 7 tomorrow!

ah, the pure joy of seeing a team I really dislike beat a team I really really dislike

For me it's the exact opposite: seeing a team I really really dislike beat a team I really dislike.

Funny how that works sometimes.

/Had big hopes for Minnesota vs. Anaheim ALCS

Ok, one more time because we're yelling about the headline still. One last chance at self-promotion, so we can all post our own headlines.

"Boston in World Series. Stienbrenner fires everyone in Yankee Stadium; digs up Billy Martin and fires him again."

/still bitter about the headline.
//Go Sox.
//From a Dodger Fan.

Ortiz is God, Damon is Jesus, and Schilling is the Holy Spirit.

Baseball isn't the most boring sport. That goes to football.

No way man, fotball is even worse.
2004-10-21 12:37:55 AM
No, kerry wins if the Redskins lose to the Packers.

2004-10-21 12:38:06 AM
Well I don't really follow baseball and when I do I'm for the Yankees, but it's pretty cool to see the Sox win. I'll definatley be cheering for them in the world series. Go Sox!

Better be ready for Clements, Oswalt and Backe cuz we're ready for you.

/Good one Red Sox, you guys deserve it.
//even if the Astros don't make it,the Cards are a good team. Either one will be a good team to go against the Red Sox.
2004-10-21 12:38:59 AM
Anyone have a link to where I can find a "Damon is my Homeboy" T-Shirt?
2004-10-21 12:39:06 AM
The curse is still intact until the Red Sox win the World Series

Enjoy your ALCS victory. You earned it. But don't piss off the karma gods by proclaiming the curse is over before you even play a single World Series game.
2004-10-21 12:39:10 AM
Suuuuuure. Bad luck for four straight games, when Boston is supposedly the cursed team.

2004-10-21 12:39:30 AM
Scubagon, I don't know if you know the history of the whole "Who's your daddy" thing, because if not, I guess you could take that out of context to sound offensive. Pedro actually called the Yankees his daddy, since they own him, and it caught on ever since.

On the baseball vs. soccer boring debate:

Can we all just agree that televised poker is actually the most boring "sport" ever to be shown on television, and have a big hug?
2004-10-21 12:39:44 AM
-Obligatory touching moment-

My Dad told me when I was a kid that if we win it all after he passes away, I'm to dig him up and put the news clipping and a World Series banner in his casket.

-Moment over-

I hope that's not legally binding. Sorry Dad, but can I just, like, tape it to the stone? Heh.
2004-10-21 12:39:53 AM
Errrrr. Ok, A Winner Is You?
2004-10-21 12:40:15 AM
The losingest baseball team in the losingest town finally won.
2004-10-21 12:40:22 AM
This is on a whole new level of ownage.
2004-10-21 12:40:43 AM
"That had to have been the best 4 games of baseball I've ever watched, and I'm a big baseball fan"

It was great, but the '91 Series Twins/Braves was the best.series.evar!

AWESOME GAME SOX! Un-Freaking-Believable!
2004-10-21 12:40:54 AM
2004-10-21 12:40:58 AM

I take it you don't actually play cards?
2004-10-21 12:41:06 AM
To my left side, Yankees form a line for crotch kicks. To my right, Red Sox form a line for high fives.
2004-10-21 12:41:08 AM
