Sounds pretty familiar. Many teachers have worked under similar circumstances forever. So, how has this changed since you first chose your career path, and what steps have you taken to alleviate the problems?

My point was/is, nearly everyone works under similar circumstances and restraints. Teaching just isn't that much different, but it is fashionable to support their whining.

Can we have a little substance please?!?!? Instead of innuendo?!? And cheap tricks?!?

How is reporting exactly what a person said - and did - classified as innuendo and a cheap trick?

Sounds like the same logic as calling a liberal "liberal" a dirty trick.

How dare you nasty Republicans accurately report the facts!

2004-10-20 09:21:26 PM
Dude! ??? Can you do math? Yes, military is a real job. I know of 4 marriages between the future first 'couple'.

4 > 1

Do the math, Dr. Asshat!

don't mind if I do... i've learned partly from this thread that:
military service + attorney + muffin shop owner + senator + translator for the UN = 5 jobs.

i believe 5 is > 4. Anyways, everyone knows the submitter was trying to imply that Kerry has never had a "real job". Nice try, but no. Of course, Bush has had real jobs too cuz his daddy gave him them. But he ran them into the ground.

I dunno, Kerry mentioning that Dick Cheney's daughter would likely have something interesting to say about whether she thinks her orientation is a choice was called "cheap and tawdry" by Cheney's wife and blasted as a dirty, cruel stunt by many Bush supporters--and it wasn't even as if he made it sound like a bad thing to be gay!

The reactions to his statement are revealing.

as part of the unwashed masses of fark lite, i had no idea this actually got greenlighted

for everyone making it into a flamewar, it was just a joke about how rich politicians are and how they shouldn't be talking smac about stuff they are guilty of, as well

Well, when you consider someone who worked as a translator for the United Nations, yeah, being a lowly librarian and teacher isn't much of a job at all.

So what did you do today, Ms. Heinz?
- "I facilitated high-level communications between representatives of different nations."

And what did you do today, Ms. Bush?
- "I put some Dr. Seuss books back on the shelf, and called the janitor in when Billy went wee-wee on the Reading Rug."

I've met and talked with Laura Bush before, when she was the First Lady of Texas (in a library, come to think). She seemed very genuine about her interests in improving the public library system. She also seemed as interesting of a conversationalist as a pile of dirt in the corner of a claims adjustor's office. I got the impression that at heart, she was just a small town nobody that fate had decided should have her own assistants and camera crew.

And there's nothing bad about being boring, it's just that by definition boring's not very interesting. I know there are a lot of insecure men (and doormat women) out there that find it all scary and outrageous when a woman's being interesting, but oh well, if Kerry wins you'll just have to deal with it.

/Thought it was cool that Teresa Heinz admitted she was wrong and apologized - it seems like a small thing, but it's more than her husband's worthless joke of an opponent has done in the last 4 years.

DasWiggy,

"As for civil war... I don't see it as happening. It can't, because this isn't nearly as geographically-bound as the issue was in the Civil War."

I agree that there can't possibly be a civil war over this (for one thing, one side doesn't like to fight at all...that's hardly a war).

But, though not as neatly-tied to two compass points (north and south) as The Second American Revolution, there are definite geographical "tendencies".

Blue states are on the left coast (coincidence?), New England, and the Great Lakes states. Everything else is red. The red states have the interior lines, most of the food, and all of the guns...a Civil War would be very ugly, indeed.

Nope, there won't be any more bloodshed over politics here in the USA. Now, when the Fed pulls the plug on analog TV in a few years...that's a different story.

"...and the sixth seal was opened, and I beheld the Clenis in all its purple-helmeted glory. And it rode in on the backs of the Horsefaced Ketchupites, and it stained the dresses, and it attracted the interns, and it bent the world to its will.
And the Lord wept as the Clenis came to rule for forty and two years, and the righteous screamed and spit at it, and the sinners rubbed where the righteous spit, and the air was filled with purple haze, which no one dared inhale."

OK, time. I'm sorry, you're all wrong, the correct answer was "Who gives a shiat?"

Bob, show them what they haven't won.

Comon, we all know "schoolteacher" and "librarian" are just made up busy work for women who can't find a husband.

Awesome Post, DammitDrag

I'm surprised that there's been only one Jon Stewart mention in this thread so far. This is exactly the kind of unimportant crap that the media turns into news. I'm watching Hardball right now, and guess what they're talking about?

I expect he'll mention this non-story on tds tonight.

2004-10-20 09:40:41 PM
I mention my age because I find people in this country women, not men, of course women are so troubled by their age. There's a culture of youth, and it's a phony culture. And it's a silly culture because, you know, gravity pulls you down. And what stays is inside your head, in your eyes and in your brain and in your heart. And that gets bigger as you get older

Uh - no, Teresa, I think somebody's been lying to you. You're just farking OLD.

T. Kerry is a blob. She's on drugs of some kind. Heard her talk? She sounds drugged.

2004-10-20 10:00:49 PM
I wish she would tell us how she feels about paying a lower percentage in taxes than most Americans, yet supports higher taxes that won't effect her one bit. If you make a lot of money in salary, you get killed by taxes. When you are already stink'n rich like her, you don't pay sh*t, but have no problem saying every one else should.

Let them eat cake!

2004-10-20 10:04:48 PM
Jebus.. what a bunch of farking pussies, the lot of you... reading this drivel almost makes me puke.

No wonder America always has asshats for leaders.. look at the morons doing the picking!

"Ooh (squeel) she's rude! Ooh! She's ugly! I'm voting for the certified madman because he talks like Rambo and he's maried to a Stepford wife"

Well I've heard this woman talk.. and guess what.. she's cooler and smarter and makes more farking sense than any of you tards OR either of the political hacks running for office.

Sounds like some of you mamma's boys are just scared of an actual woman. (And yes, they are different that the blow-up dolls you have hidden in your parent's basement).

fark, I'd for for THK.. and hit it, too. The woman's farking awesome.
farking puerile pussies.

2004-10-20 10:09:07 PM
oh my, THK should be shot in the face.

"Real job" ????

Marrying into money is a real job huh?

Anyone who buys into the Kerry bull is as stupid as he is.. which is pretty damn stupid.

rassilon, it must really cheese your ass to know that two "farking pussies" have twice the say in our governance than an obviously brilliant gem like yourself has.

Snarfangel

I reiterate my main point, which you neglected to acknowledge.

Waht does the label "liberal" mean when this "conservative" administration has been spending like we have a never ending supply of cash?

That is NOT conservative, so what's your point?

DAS WIGGY

Don't blame the Dems for "damaging" the US because of the Gore v Bush debacle in 2000.

As if there wasn't some shady BS going on. Please.

It takes 2 to Tango sweetheart.

Oh, and DasWiggy Read your posts and your bio.

Being a shortsighted, unreasoning ass does not make you cool, ro deep, or interesting. It just makes you a shortsighted unreasoning ass.

And dude.. lay off bragging about your guns.. it only makes everyone think you have a tiny winkie.

2004-10-20 10:14:21 PM
Laura Bush killed her boyfriend when she was 17, look it up.

It probably was difficult for Laura to get a job after she killed her boyfriend.

Who would want to hire you after you ram your boyfriends car and kill him.

The cops also think she was high on pot when she killed him.

rassilon
Some good thoughts.

I have a lot of respect for THK. She is intelligent, speaks her mind, can take a little criticism and can admit mistakes. She is a strong woman, which I find to be admirable. There is no sin in not being that way, but still I find it to be admirable.

2004-10-20 10:21:22 PM
rassilon, is that REALLY the best you can do? "Gun ownership=little penis"? Does that apply to your Dark Lord Kerry too? After all, he owns a "Chinese Communist Assault Rifle"...

Feh. Your net intellectual worth is the equivalent of the pustulated scab freshly fallen from a herpoid prostitute's money-maker.

2004-10-20 10:25:45 PM
DasWiggy: Wait, like when Trent Lott said something nice about Strom Thurmond and got crucified for it even after he apologized?

Welcome to Conservative World, where not knowing the employment history of a First Lady is exactly as reprehensible as saying the country would have been better off if a segregationist had won the Presidency.

What an idiot.

2004-10-20 10:27:30 PM
knobmaker, I notice you're not ranting about Robert Byrd, Klan Recruiter. Why is that?

/hands knobmaker a nice "partisan hackery" award

2004-10-20 10:28:22 PM
Okay, you farkers. Stop spelling her name "Theresa", because that skank's name is "Teresa."

2004-10-20 10:33:48 PM
What I was impying, Wiggy, is that you are such an intellectual lightweight that you actually brag in your profile about being an asshole and owning lots of guns.

Being an asshole is one thing. Bragging about it is another. Bragging about it and then having the temerity to pass judgement on others is yet a third.

I own guns too. I enjoy them. But when somebody asks me to summarize myself, I don't immediately think of my guns.

You do. And that's kinda sad, really.

2004-10-20 10:39:02 PM
Gee, rassilon, looking at my profile, I notice that before mentioning my guns, I CLEARLY state that I'm (1)fat, (2)loud, (3)obnoxious, (4) 36 years old, (5)lazy, (6)a bastard, and (7) that I sue people for fun. That's SEVEN (1,2,3,4,5,6,7...yup, SEVEN) fun facts about myself BEFORE I mention that I'm a retired class 3 arms dealer, which was my profession.

Dammit, my profile's wrong. I think I may have turned 37 now. shiat.

2004-10-20 10:39:52 PM
In Mass you can check a box on your tax returns if you want to pay the pre-Bush taxes. Kerry wants to increase taxes to where they were before Bush, but guess what - he doesn't check that box. Fighting for the working class, my ass. Kerry is promising the world - jobs, healthcare, retirement, curing disease, just to get elected. Help is on the way! Keep it and let me keep my well earned money.

2004-10-20 10:43:54 PM
I'm voting for Nader, but frankly, I'm willing to have 4 years of Kerry just to watch DasWiggy die from convulsively swallowing his own tongue.

Black blocs are sort-of "out" right now--got so the cops gravitate toward anyone wearing black now for any reason. For that matter, mass demos seem to have run their current course after half a million people marched outside the RNC. I think a lot of people out on this end are concentrating more on local organizing now, playing "wait-and-see" with whatever screwy shenanigans take place on and around Nov. 2.

I'm sure Kerry will do something to earn some scorn and his own angry anarchist bloc, though:)

Although I think there was a small black bloc at the DNC--I know the blue bloc was there, in force.

2004-10-20 11:08:55 PM
platinum,. I spent enough time in the Blue Bloc...no more for me, thanks! ;)
