(USA Today)   Teresa Heinz questions whether Laura Bush has ever had a real job. In other news, number of real jobs Teresa Heinz and John Forbes Kerry have held is less than the number of marriages between them   (usatoday.printthis.clickability.com) divider line 462

nice application of the ol' GOP spin submitter. unfortunately it doesnt fool anybody who doesn't watch fox news, and/or over the age of 4.

Great headline though.

teresa kerry's best job was marrying the late sen. john heinz. who, incidently, would have probably been a 2000 primary candidate against dubya had he not gone down in a plane crash. he was a good pennsylvanian

2004-10-20 12:56:11 PM
Laura Bush was a librarian, and actually did go the usual route of careers, as far as it went before she gave it up to be Dubya's wife full-time. After that, she's been a professional ornament, and more lately, Reception Hostess.

I'm not sure, but has Ms. Heinz-Kerry ever worked a real job that she didn't get by marrying the money it was attached to? And what's her "real job" now? Other than Figurehead?

Does Badnarik even have a wife?

I generally respect people that speak their mind without fear of retribution, but this woman isn't the ideal I have in mind as first lady.
/go on with your hit and run jokes now.

Neither one of them are. Mrs. Kerry's lack of grace is obvious.

Mrs. Bush... heh... I wouldn't be surprised if one day in the future we see this headline in a newspaper: "Former Pres. Bush bludgeoned to death; killer at large! Police enjoy tasty lamb dinner made by former First Lady".

2004-10-20 01:13:50 PM
I think the prospective First Ladies should decide every election. Make them mud-wrestle to a clean pin, then have a half hour to put on a Governors' Spouses Luncheon. Or something.

2004-10-20 01:25:51 PM
What she said is just downright rude and ignorant. But...meh. ::shrug::

2004-10-20 01:32:38 PM
If you still need a reason on how to vote in this election. One look at Momma T., and the things she says, should help you decide.

2004-10-20 01:54:17 PM
I question whether Teresa has ever killed anyone and gotten away with it.

2004-10-20 01:59:26 PM
Yes, when the First Lady gets in a car wreck involving a fatality, it's reprehensible. When it's the Senior Senator from Massachusetts, and he waits over 12 hours to report it while he sobers up, and gets away with it, it's fine by all of us, right? Gee, we could play this all day!

Theresa was hired as a translator at the UN out of college. Speaks five languages.

2004-10-20 02:10:17 PM
She needs to shut up in all five...

In a statement issued Wednesday, Heinz Kerry said: "I had forgotten that Mrs. Bush had worked as a school teacher and librarian, and there couldn't be a more important job than teaching our children. As someone who has been both a full-time mom and full-time in work force, I know we all have valuable experiences that shape who we are. I appreciate and honor Mrs. Bush's service to the country as first lady and am sincerely sorry I had not remembered her important work in the past."

What did Teresa do "full-time in the work force" before she started marrying money? Does anyone know? Just curious.

2004-10-20 04:24:47 PM
don't let Laura drive the campaign bus....

2004-10-20 04:28:00 PM
Nevermind, found it:

She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Romance Languages and literature from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. She graduated from the Interpreters School of the University of Geneva (Switzerland) before moving to the United States to work at the United Nations as a translator. She is fluent in five languages: English, Spanish, French, Italian, and her native Portuguese.

http://www.nationmaster.com/encyclopedia/Teresa-Heinz-Kerry

Birthdate is 1938. So, assuming she graduated college at 22 and Interpreters School at 24, she was a U.N. interpreter for 4 years before marrying Heinz in 1966.

/The more you know...

2004-10-20 04:49:27 PM
Heh, way to be a dumbass Theresa.

I like her, too.

2004-10-20 04:55:26 PM
Okay...I'm gonna biatch about the political submissions being greenlighted...ahem:

Can we have a little substance please?!?!? Instead of innuendo?!? And cheap tricks?!?

Okay. I feel better. Flame on!

2004-10-20 04:55:58 PM
How many real jobs have George Bush and John Kerry had though?

From a guy promising never to participate in political threads, you don't have much ground to stand on.

Momma T. says hypocrites give her gas.

-Teresa Kerry, WEDNESDAY

Now can we go back to discussing campaign issues, Jobs, Budgets, Wars, Oil, that sort of thing? And get off the petty jabs?

It feels as though you're trying to tell us something.

Yeah, I guess I kinda shouted there. I'm registered Republican, and would really like to have the focus be on matters of substance. The Kerry camp has been kicking our asses rotten on actual discussion, and all my camp seems to come back with is soundbites and "talking points" instead of addressing the issues on an intelligent level.

I really despise how things degenerate so quickly into name calling, from the proponents of both camps. It makes me want to scream.

2004-10-20 05:49:55 PM
Both parties encourage this type of discourse. It's one of the main reasons neither party received my vote.

2004-10-20 05:59:05 PM
I agree.

I've still not decided whether party loyalty will win out, or whether I'm going to vote for a piece of roadside trash, or what. But one slip from someone who isn't even the candidate that my party has chosen to be the next media outrage isn't going to make me decide.

If anything, this "pick your media outrage" thing will encourage me to back a non-candidate.

I still have strong instincts towards the Republican party. I'll probably vote Bush, if I get even a whiff of this same kind of stuff from the Kerry camp. But here, in Colorado, it's the Republican rhetoric that has had the same kind of playground chic as this article and the way it's getting spun into the next "talking point" of media outrage. I don't think we've been getting the same kind of thing from the bad guys. I kind of wonder what the other side of the country is getting. Where are you, AMBOFC?

As far as it goes, I do think I'll either vote Bush or Kerry, but I want to see whose camp can offer intelligent arguments through these last days.

I know, I might as well hope for my feces to spew forth in 24 karat gold, but I still hope for it.

Alas, for the optimism of my youth.

And yes, it's real ugly here.

Oh, and the political scene isn't very pretty either.

;)

Sorry to hear it. Maybe next time.

Potential first lady might want to chat with her brain before she chats with her mouth.

2004-10-20 06:28:38 PM
LOL, but she's a 'strong women' so she can say and do anything damn thing she wanna do, nanananana.

2004-10-20 06:29:13 PM
I think one thing all Americans can agree on is this gal is one annoying biatch.

2004-10-20 06:29:50 PM
Yay, another thread the Conservatards can jack themselves off in.

Teresa can Speak 5 languages that abused whore Laura bush can barley speak 1.

2004-10-20 06:30:37 PM
Ter-A-sa's real job has been to bang U.S. Senators and when one dies, go find another one.

2004-10-20 06:30:39 PM
And my point is proven again. *sigh*

2004-10-20 06:30:47 PM
Mrs. Bush gets chastised for her work history from someone who spends her day in the 'workforce' at the mall.

There will be other disappointments for Massachusetts today.

2004-10-20 06:32:39 PM
Laura Bush is nothing but an ornament for her husband and her credentials are little more than "wifey-poo". It's like "Plastic Pat" Nixon, with West Texas twang.

2004-10-20 06:32:43 PM
unlikely

I just try and have fun with it now.

2004-10-20 06:33:40 PM
Did Laura Bush do some jail time for killing her boy friend with her car many years ago?
What was the deal with that, was it some kind of manslaugher charge?

2004-10-20 06:34:12 PM
Theresa Heinz has worked very hard as Chairwoman of the Heinz Foundation funding many worthy causes. She has given away tons of money. She is truly and genuinely a good person.
I have both directly and indirectly been on the receiving end of her generosity via working with many community service organizations here in Pittsburgh that have nothing to do with politics. The lady shoots from the hip and isn't always politically correct but I'm here to tell you her heart is sure in the right place.

2004-10-20 06:34:59 PM
So.. Theresa was in South Africa during Apartheid. I wonder if she ever took a stand against it while she was there? I aint gonna vote for Bush, but I like Laura.

I might vote for Kerry, but I cant stand Theresa.

2004-10-20 06:35:23 PM
You're all missing the point of this article...

Q: You'd also be the oldest woman to become first lady. I've noticed that you often mention your age to audiences.
How in the holy hell is THK older than Barbara Bush was in 1988?

Stop stating facts. This is a thread of the conservatards to spew their crap.
