poor fark liters.. this article gets the green, while dozens of other real news stories bite the dust.

2004-10-18 01:25:48 PM
Better a minivan than another ugly, monstrous Suburban Assault Vehicle.

2004-10-18 01:25:58 PM
Argh, don't taunt us!

2004-10-18 01:28:44 PM
Dumb!

QUACK!

2004-10-18 01:29:40 PM
So... It's a BMW limo with the seats facing forward?

2004-10-18 01:29:43 PM
Up next: Soccer moms in BMWs (but they aren't minivans).

2004-10-18 01:29:54 PM
I think taunting is part of the membership agreement for TotalFark. It's part of the marketing.
In reality, TotalFark is probably full of 30 links about BMWs, 56 about Fergie, and 128 hamsterdances

BMW's are overrated pieces of crap anyway.

2004-10-18 01:31:48 PM
Photoshop contest.. what would a BMW minivan look like?

2004-10-18 01:32:20 PM
Why is BMW ashamed of being associated with the minivan market?

Oh. Just answered my own question. Nevermind.

2004-10-18 01:32:46 PM
BMW = Bayrischer Mist Wagen

BMW = Break My Window

That's news to me!

Actually, listening to TotalFarkers is like listening to new parents.

They brag about how much better their life is, but you know that they ain't getting much sleep, they're jealous of your independence (and your extra $5!) and they're just trying to sucker you into the same misery.

2004-10-18 01:35:19 PM
"BMW brand solution"? Are they talking about a car?

The X5 is a mini-mini-van already. When they released that thing I was so dissapointed. SUV... right.

2004-10-18 01:39:24 PM
How did this get greenlighted?
I don't really care I just always wanted to say that.

Space Functional Design?

Yet another acronym destined to fail, like the Sport Activity Vehicle.

I wish car companies would just tell people that all SUV's will eventaully evolve back to mini-vans, and hurry the process up so they can go back to making real sports cars.

People who bash BMW and say things like they are for men with small weewee's just wish they could have one.

they really aren't overrated. I have an 84 528e that is fantastic. never any real problems, and it handles better than my new audi.

2004-10-18 01:45:41 PM
Burkhard Goeschel, BMW board member responsible for research, development and purchasing, says BMW envisions a seating position for the vehicle at a height "somewhere between a passenger car and an SUV."

No shiat sherlock! How much is he getting paid?

I envision driving to the bank to cash my checks in something somewhere between what we have now and something different.

It's the new BMW mega-wagon!

2004-10-18 01:46:51 PM
Yeah brendanpelto, my 85 535i is better than most new cars. I love it.

EXTREMELY astute. There are probably 3-5 links from TFers complaining about the influx of BMW minivan links, one of which refers to liberals as having "Sand in their vaginas".

Just like today's "crossover" vehicles aren't station wagons.

BrendanPelto - friend had an extra 2002 engine and wanted to play around. Damn thing ran for more 2 hours without oil revved up like crazy.

They're getting closer to minivans

I thought the only folks who came to FARK were morning radio DJs to steal material for their shows.

Seriously, BMW's quality and design have slipped a lot. The new sedans have ugly headlights and tail ends, the coupes are awkward-looking, the SUVs look like (and basically are) hopped-up station wagons. The controls are a mess, particularly the ones with the Windows-powered "iDrive".

Mercedes' quality has also slipped a lot, and their SUV is a minivan. Saabs are just General Motors now. I think Audi and Volvo are your European luxury segment leaders at this point.

The late 90s 7 series was one of the worst cars consumer reports has ever rated in regards to long term reliability. The 5 and 3 series did not fare much better. Most of the problems seem to revolve around the gizmotronic electrics. VW/Audi and Mercedes did not rate much better. They had a repair rate comperable to Ford and Chevy.

As for you 84, eh, I rarely had problems with my 68 Chevelle. Simplicity does have it advantages.

X5 is a perfectly capable off-road vehicle, unless you're some toothless redneck who likes jackin' em up and driving it over boulders on pre existing paths. PUssies. Drive that farking SUV straight into the woods...paths...hah...that ain't off-'road'ing in my eyes...

Boondock Saints. Give me my cookie.

Oh yea, and why doesn't BMW say they are just going to make a small limo?
