I have always wondered what happened to my flashbacks. I think they are a myth.

I know! What a ripoff.
2004-10-18 12:34:02 AM
I know multiple people who've taken 12+ hits. I've done it myself (accidentally -- each hit was meant to be cut in four pieces, but had no perforations.. oops!) You can't die from it, unless you're stupid and end up killing yourself, but that would be your fault. You should have trip sitters.

More importantly, there's acid in Eugene?! I haven't seen that stuff in years.
2004-10-18 12:34:50 AM
good old orange sunshine. seven pretty little tablets. see the pretty colours. and Frodo, what are you still doing here? watch out its a black rider. weeeeeeeee. see the pretty colors...............

I've done quite a bit in the past, both liquid and blotter.
No bad experiences and no flash backs. Unless, getting that weird smell-taste of the liquid that makes your stomach knot up is considered a flashback. Those happen infrequently. Over dosing on LSD is about as believable as overdosing on pot.

2004-10-18 12:35:12 AM
Yeah, 'cuz he told u he wuz hardcore.

Oh, and as far as OD'ing, it could very well have been the meth or whatever the hell it was cut with. The poor schmuck probably had some sort of underlying medical condition that made his heart asplode (didn't RTFA, don't care).

A guy I knew once set himself on fire while he was tripping. Luckily (for him) he didn't get anything worse than 2nd degree burns. It was actually kind of funny at the time, because the same jackass used to hold lit roman candles in his hand and shoot flaming balls at people at his house parties. What goes around comes around, jackasses.

I know dying on LSD is improbable, but...

A gallon?

Surely you'd die! SURELY!
2004-10-18 12:36:56 AM
Wow, you guys even read the farkin articles anymore? It was a girl that died from the LSD.
2004-10-18 12:38:16 AM
DoorsFanRob No, it's farked for most tries.
2004-10-18 12:39:10 AM
Acid must be the most non-addictive drug ever. I loved it for many years, to the point where I was eating acid and going to work, talking to mom, driving around town, etc., just living life while tripping balls. It was just another thing, and I enjoyed the challenge of appearing normal while barely keeping the world in check.

Then one night I entered the movie "Hellraiser" for eight hours. Except it was personal. There was no escape. My skull was repeatedly peeled off and my brains raped.

I have never ever even considered taking another hit again.
2004-10-18 12:39:54 AM
five hundred hits later and would you beleive now I'm a Republican?
2004-10-18 12:40:14 AM
lsd overdoses don't happen,
it's alcohol overdoses that are the problem
2004-10-18 12:41:40 AM
while I can't RTFA again cause it's farked, I'm pretty sure it was a female who overdosed...
2004-10-18 12:42:59 AM
Victoly: In order to die from strychnine-laced acid, you basically have to take a sheet and use it as a spoon to scoop the strychnine. When used to aid paper absorption, as is the most common reason, there's nowhere near enough to even make you slightly sick.
2004-10-18 12:43:24 AM
Acid is fun, but all things in moderation. Quick story:

Once, my friend Deng and I were at a party. Deng is an impulsive type, never one to turn down a wager. We were next to each other on the couch drinking beer and talking about, I don't know, being retarded teenagers with bad mohawks or something. A man offered me $50 to take twenty-five hits of acid. I said, "Hell farking No". Deng says, "$50? I like money! Give it here!"

Deng eats the acid. Twenty minutes later, he was like "dude, I'm not even tripping. Must have been fake. What a chump." Then some guy asks him for a cigarette. Trigger'd!

All he saw for the next three days was the guy saying, "Dude, do you have a cigarette? Dude, do you have a cigarette?" He kept muttering, "no, no, no cigarettes..."

The entire time I was baby-sitting him, all I heard was "no, no cigarettes..."

Up at my house: "no, no, no cigarettes..."

In 7-11, buying him cigarettes: "no, no cigarettes... no, no cigarettes..."

In the park, drinking and explaining what happened to our friends: "no, no cigarettes... no, no cigarettes..."

Finally, an epiphany-- we were on the train, and I was thinking about checking him into a mental hospital when he screamed at the top of his lungs, "DUDE, I DON'T HAVE ANY F*CKIN' CIGARETTES, ALRIGHT?" He looked at me wearily and said, "some people just don't take no for an answer, man."

That was the end of that. He went back to his house, ate, slept, and went to school in the morning. The end.
2004-10-18 12:43:28 AM
wow, that didn't take long to fark.
2004-10-18 12:44:46 AM
Since the article is Farked and I couldn't RTFA, I'm going to fill in the blanks and assume the guy quaffed a liter of Everclear to get to the LSD at the bottom.

/I, too, call BS on "LSD overdose".

"Do you have any Allman Brothers?"

I discovered the internet while tripping.

I remember those silly ol' days, staring in wonder at my Intel 386-powered monster, glued to this amazing thing called the World Wide Web. We paid by the hour then, you know, and I'd run up hundreds of dollars of Web time, eyes glazed over and excitedly perusing and other "cutting-edge" sites of the time.

I was hallucinating Fark before it ever showed up.
2004-10-18 12:46:17 AM
LSD will not disolve in water so if you put twelve hits in water it could clog together and you could get all twelve with one sip or none. That said I don't believe there is any credible evidence that a person can overdose on LSD. The most I ever took was twenty hits of orange sunshine and I was up for about 5 days. I've never had a flashback. This story is pure bunk.
2004-10-18 12:46:31 AM
I don't have any good acid stories (did it once - hung out in a park with some buddies - very intoxicated, but nothing exceptional in terms of an experience) but I got really messed up the first time I did shrooms. Let me say this - Don't do shrooms if you have not slept in 36 hours. Long story short, I though I had to take out my dog's brain to continue time. Yeah. Luckily I talked myself out of it. I think I'll go give my dog a hug now.
2004-10-18 12:47:41 AM
medius: That's my favorite LSD joke. Thank you Dan Aykroyd!
2004-10-18 12:47:52 AM
I advise you to go get yourself some acid and try it right away.

No thanks : )
2004-10-18 12:48:38 AM
Who allegedly overdosed on LSD. Add me to the other voices raised in a cry of bullshiat. If someone did overdose, I'm very skeptical that it was LSD. A different drug sold to them under the name of LSD, perhaps. But this whole thing just screams of the usual chicken with head cut off reaction the press takes to anything involving the words recreational drug. I long for the days when the press would actually investigate their stories, and when the public had enough knowledge of the world to recognise when it's not been done.
2004-10-18 12:49:03 AM
`gel tabs'? Get a grip, it's windowpane. Some wise ass prosecutor, many years ago, picked up a sheet of apparently really clean pane from the evidence table, during a trial, to wave in front of the jury. The sheet was unbagged, the prosecutor's hands were sweaty, and the lysergic just went right through the skin of his fingers. Trial was delayed IIRC.

An acquaintance was fond of solutions of DMSO and acid for the same effect with poorer quality product.

Permanently dilated pupils? maybe. Concentrating hard without a clue as to the subject? Likely. Death? Stick to a couple fifths of Absolut.
2004-10-18 12:52:36 AM he thinks hes a firetruck.

medius, LOL, I forgot about that bit.

I think this explains it:

Habit forming and easy to overdose.
2004-10-18 12:53:33 AM
Haha nice one
2004-10-18 12:55:22 AM

Interesting. I used to smoke pot every day, goto work, get a kick out of being stoned and managing mainframes. Then one day I had a sorta spontaneous panic attack in the middle of a meeting and had to leave. BTW, panic attack = agony. Dealt with anxiety for a while after that. Still smoke but know when it's appropriate. Bottom line... respect drugs no matter how harmless you might think them.
2004-10-18 12:56:43 AM
Chicks can't hold they smoke.

Anyone who knows anything about Psychopharmacology knows it is FACT that there is no "LD" lethal dose for LSD.

Also advive for the novice to intermediate drug user. If you buy LSD on blotter paper, 99% chance its contains little to no LSD-25. Unless one happens to know a chemist LSD in its true form is a rarity. Exception being the great state of CA. Colleges Berkley, Santa Cruz, Chino, or of course the Golgen Gate Park on Sunday afternoon.......

Poor bastard... this is the guy that gave her the hits....
2004-10-18 01:01:14 AM
kids...take it from someone who used to do a lot of acid.

the first time you do it... you will have a rush of panic thinking to yourself..."Oh my god! what if i stay this way!"

Take it from me... you do!

Now excuse me, I need to go talk to the toilet so it doesn't get mad at me when i poo in its mouth.
2004-10-18 01:01:55 AM
I have taken acid 3 times, but have even come close to tripping. I have take other drugs in my life, including mushrooms, so I know that something should happen.

I would like to do it before I get too old. I am 24 now and it's getting hard to 1) find it, and 2) find people to take it with.

Even though I have never actually experienced LSDs effects, I am convinced that it is something everyone should try once in their life. Who knows, I may find the answer I was looking for. And at the least it would be a good time.

(in case it's still farked)

The Associated Press
COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho - A North Idaho College student, who went into a coma after an apparent overdose on LSD, has died.

Gloria Discerni, 18, of Cottage Grove, died Friday, said police spokeswoman Sgt. Christie Wood. She had been in a coma since Tuesday night after willingly drinking orange juice spiked with the hallucinogenic drug.

Wood said prosecutors would most likely file manslaughter charges Monday against the student who gave Discerni the drug - 18-year-old Cameron James Jester, of Lincoln, Neb.

``It's up to the prosecutors what level of manslaughter, voluntary or involuntary,'' said police Lt. Don Jiran.

Jester, who was arrested Wednesday when he tried to visit Discerni in the hospital, is being held under suicide watch at the Kootenai County jail on $100,000 bail.

He originally was charged with felony distribution of LSD and misdemeanor possession of psilocybin mushrooms.

Records show that Jester told investigators he gave the woman a dozen doses of the hallucinogen in a drink and then let her have some of his drink, which also had a dozen doses.

She quickly became ill and friends took her to the hospital.

Police are awaiting toxicology results to determine if the drug was actually LSD or if Discerni had taken any medications or had any other medical conditions which might have contributed to her death.

This is another one of those stories that pops up in the media from time to time. It seems that most of the other commentors would agree that an LSD overdose is, in and of itself, highly improbable. Unfotunately, the truth about what killed this girl (be it LSD or some other substance) will never be followed up on. And it's too bad, because more than like it will illustrate a larger and more important point about using drugs. It's not that using drugs is inherently bad or evil, but that you need to be careful because it is illegal and tends to attract people with bad intentions.
2004-10-18 01:06:17 AM
motherwell, I'll save you the trip.

Things you'll learn from acid:
1) Everything is the same
2) Cigarettes are both pointless and wonderful
3) Aphex Twin is farking great

There. You owe me $5.
2004-10-18 01:06:50 AM
I've lived in Springfield, Oregon for the last 10 years. It's a neighboring town to Eugene. Acid has always been around our area. I think it's because of Eugene's reputation as "Hippie-ville on the Highway 5." Shrooms are properly more popular. But for me, it's always been acid and pot.
2004-10-18 01:07:02 AM
No well-documented human deaths resulting directly from the toxic effects of LSD itself have occurred, though LSD has been implicated in accidental deaths, suicides, and homicides. LD50 (That's lethal dose in 50% of those who injest this much) determinations vary widely with species, begin 46 mg/kg in mice, 16.5 mg/kg in rats, 0.3 mg/kg in rabbits and 0.1 mg/kg in elephants. In monkeys, the LD100 is 5 mg/kg.
Death in these animals is the result of respiratory failure, preceded in the rabbit by marked hyperthermia. Human data are manifestly lacking, and predictions of the average lethal dose for humans have ranged from 0.2 mg/kg to more than 1 mg/kg, administered orally.
So if one weighed about 80 kg, then the lethal dose would be (estimated) between 16mg and 80mg, or in street terms between about 50 to 250 hits of the strongest blotter acid you can find.
that being said, acid has NEVER been "cut" with anything, it is incredibly cheap to make and even easier to fake, all you need is a blank sheet of blotter paper. so, for all you ppl talking about strychnine-laced acid, BS, no such creature, never has been. the rumor has gone around as long as acid has been sold, and never once has it been corroborated. for anyone interested in learning the truth about acid, this is a good site
2004-10-18 01:07:19 AM
I have taken acid 3 times, but have even come close to tripping.

I'm guessing you need a better source, but I understand how hard it is to find quality LSD. There's a lot of crappy chemicals smeared on blotter paper out there. If you get the good stuff, trust me--you'll know. Oh, you'll know.

Even though I have never actually experienced LSDs effects, I am convinced that it is something everyone should try once in their life.

I completely agree. It's almost impossible to discuss the deeper recesses of human existence with someone who hasn't had the courage to shine a spotlight into his own mind. It can change a person.

Who knows, I may find the answer I was looking for.

No. No you won't. But maybe you'll understand the journey a little more.
2004-10-18 01:09:47 AM
Impossible to OD on LSD, dipwads. Unless, that is, he took over 100,000 hits at once.
2004-10-18 01:10:13 AM
mmmm, acid.

God I wish my friends didn't turn into "grown-ups." No one is ever down to trip these days.

It's funny...I couldn't handle smoking pot or doing ecstasy. But acid? We were like old friends reunited.
2004-10-18 01:11:36 AM
I'm suprised you can still get it anywhere, I haven't had it since last year. Since it lasts too long for me I'm fine with doing salvia insted.

Who's Got the Acid?, almost nobody.
2004-10-18 01:11:57 AM
I concur with GirlGoddass.
2004-10-18 01:12:28 AM
In my youth I did my share of experimenting so I don't mean for this to sound like an uninformed post. I recall reading one time about a MASSIVE overdose of LSD causing poisoning symptoms similar to ergot poisoning. Problems with respiration that required the individuals to be put on a respirator. I wish I could find the text regarding the case now - but the one thing I recall was that the people involved had SNORTED LINES OF LSD POWDER.
I can definately imagine that might cause a body a bit of distress.
Note that high doses of LSD have killed animals. Erowid reports the LD50 as:

"The reported LD50 values for LSD are 46, 16.5, 0.3 mg/kg I.V. for mice, rats, and rabbits, respectively."

SO that is 46 MILLIGRAMS per Kilogram for the mouse. An active does in a person is considered about 1 microgram per kilogram. Sure puts the risks in some perspective. I guess unless you decide to eat a few $100,000s worth of acid on one day you probably won't be having too much trouble on the physical level.
2004-10-18 01:13:05 AM
I also call bullshiat on this overdose. SOMETHING else must have been present. I've been racking my brains trying to think of what it could be, but I can't think of it. Mark my words though, there is at least one significant piece to this puzzle that the dog ate.

I saw it suggested that it was cut with meth.... I've never heard of this, and doubt it's even possible to do. Even if it was possible, you'd have to eat something on the order of 1500 tabs to get the mass of meth required for coma. No one in their right goddamm mind, even at 18, would ever, ever do that.
