Thats just a way cool article. I hope it gets green-lit.

2004-10-13 12:58:42 PM
I would have thought the explosion was due to their low low low prices.

2004-10-13 01:15:28 PM
Is it just me, or is this ad slightly inappropriate?

2004-10-13 01:46:04 PM
Yeah, I think it's damn inappropriate to feel up the hood first.

2004-10-13 02:17:43 PM
I can just hear the radio ad now...

"It's a used car blowout! Everything must go! Hurry in because people are rushing through our doors to help us clear out our inventory."

2004-10-13 03:46:57 PM
How long until someone finds a reason to sue?

2004-10-13 03:48:21 PM

Maybe if Kitty Genovese exploded, people would've saved her, too.

After pulling victims out to the parking lot, several were identified as Salesmen, and were pulled back in to the burning building by the bystanders.

I live about 5 minutes from the dealership. The building looks like ancient ruins. It really is amazing how anyone survived. Weird thing is they originally said it was a natural gas explosion, yet there is no gas line service to the building.

curious...no?

Thank you Will N. Dowd (related to Maureen?). :)
That was my first thought when I read the headline.

Golf clap... Actually, ROFLMAO!!!

I heard about this on the news last night and immediately called my cousins that live in Huntington Station to make sure they didn't decide to go car shopping yesterday afternoon!

People from Brooklyn rushed over to help. You know how to give CPR in Brooklyn? Stand over victim & yell: GET UP BEFORE YOU F*CKIN' DIE!

"It was inspirational. People from everywhere. The entire spectrum. Nobody showed any regard for their own safety,"

The first rule of rescue is: Don't become another victim that needs rescuing.
They got lucky, they were foolishly brave and didn't get hurt. But people, showing "no regard for your own safety" isn't heroic per se.

Having said that: Bravo! I applaud your heroics, rushing to get people out before the fire spread must have saved lives. Heroes, I salute you.

Now why couldn't it happen to Neil or Hustedt? The first shiats up 112, and the second shiats up the airwaves.

Okay, these sale promotions have gone too far.

Reading about people who risked their own safety to save strangers (and we're not talking properly trained firefighters here, just people off the street) really warms my heart. Especially after reading the thread with all the douchebags who bragged about scamming retail stores.

Am I the only one here who has ever thought about blowing up a car dealership? Got ripped off really bad by one once.

Cool article, the part I have trouble with, is where people were holding up the building???

Terra alert!

If Kerry gets elected, expect many more car dealerships to asplode!

I lived in Dix Hills (part of Huntington). There are like 5000 dealerships in that area...I think foul play is afoot from the Honda competitors!

And the commercial for Habberstat used to have a voice saying, "Habberstat's HOT!" Literally I guess.

My dad bought a car from this place once. That's pretty much all I have to contribute.

I heard about this on the radio going home yesterday. "And in other news, a car dealship explodes for no apparent reason." Upon learning that it was a Nissan dealership, I figured that was a good enough reason indeed.

2004-10-13 05:50:47 PM
I was going to make a crack about this obviously could not have happened in New York, until I read it took place on Long Island.

Well, it couldn't have happened on Manhattan then.

New Yorkers must be learning something from all the cop shows set there about civic involvement or something.

2004-10-13 06:08:34 PM
You mean this isn't being blamed on Al Qaida?

Oh, wait. It's in the US, the day of a debate.

I almost never take Jericho Tpke when going home, but chose to yesterday. It added almost 45 minutes to my commute.

2004-10-13 06:38:00 PM
Heh... last Saturday a splintered telephone pole shut down Jericho Tpke further east (intersection of Commack Rd./Townline Rd.) for most of the early afternoon... now this a'sploding dealership... man western Suffolk County is falling apart!

I have to admit I wondered if foul play was involved right off the bat... any locals remember the Huntington firebug that torched the lumber yard last year, among other locales?

2004-10-13 06:57:15 PM
Major Yeah, I remember that! Crazy.

On topic, this also coincides with another gas explosion in New Jersey that turned a house into a crater. Must be that time of year!

Ah! Safe, dependable gas heat... unless you're a "major consumer" like a school or large commercial building, then Keyspan will turn off your gas when the outside temperature drops too low.

Just out of curiosity, how much does gas cost from Keyspan, Including extra fees? I'd like to compare them with the prices I'm paying for oil... I bet they're pretty close.

This never would have happened if Nissan hadn't hired Osama Bin Laden as head designer. When, oh when, are these people going to think?

you jaded few, and more than likely too young to be so jaded. thank you to those that ran to help. that encourages my own sometimes jaded heart. but i'm not so jaded to applaude courage.

2004-10-13 08:39:50 PM
Why couldn't PS Honda in Manhasett do this neat trick?

Habberstad blowing up's ok, though I wish it was the BMW one, given I see some dick with a BMW from there cut me off every day.

Oh, supect foul play - ATF is already there (NOT the transmission fluid ;) LI's had a few ELF jobs in recent years...
