I've completely eliminated drug abuse in my home. My bong is very clean, I never spill my stash or smoke seeds, hell I DOTE on my bud, kine and schwag alike.

It's the War on Drugs all over again! Go Reagan! Go the 80's! Go Republicans! Geniuses... <3

I agree CaptQueeg, Educate and legalize.

We can just bomb the drug users. That fixes everything.

You know, if some "army of compassion" approached me and said, "We love you. We love you so much we're going to convince you not to use drugs in the future" I believe I would be forced to pull out my spoon, right there, and shoot up just to get throught the confrontation.

2002-02-13 09:33:07 AM
He called for "armies of compassion," directed through religious institutions, to send the message that "We love you. We love you so much we're going to convince you not to use drugs in the future."

Please, just have the farking storm troopers kick in people's doors like before. Armies of compassion, there is another great buzz phrase to make fun of.

Amen Mog, I light a cigarette every time one of those commercials comes on. Maybe they should buy a new domain name: www.the-really-annoying-obnoxious-people-who-make-people-more-likely-to-smoke. com

Notice the article makes no mention of Bush's own coke 'n' Comfort binges.

I've got "armies of compassion": X, GHB, THC, LSD, etc., etc.

If GW Bush would quit bombing innocent civilians long enough to take care of his own country this may be possible. But he is too dumb and will continue to make the world safe for capitalists.

2002-02-13 09:38:29 AM
"He said Afghanistan's former Taliban rulers earned money from the opium trade."

Actually the opposite is true, and the US gave the taliban money as late as March of last year for doing such a good job destroying the producers. It's the people being put in power now who turned a blind eye because it was very profitable.

He should start with his druggie family first.

How's the cocaine, George?

2002-02-13 09:44:51 AM
What a frucking hypocritical jackass. Go do your blow in private and drink 'til you drop - I hope it happens soon.

2002-02-13 09:45:57 AM
This fits right in with the post about the murderer getting probation. All we have to do is turn loose the murderers, robbers, corporate embezzlers, and rapists so we free up more prison space for drug offenders. Soon we will have a happy, violent, dishonest, drug-free society. Utopia is at hand!

In keeping with the President's request, I reduced my bag by 10% myself last night.....

2002-02-13 09:46:29 AM
And we all know you're the expert to trust, Nuisance.

Anyway... I'm not a Bush hater but this is ridiculous. It's a perfect example of what's commonly wrong with all politicians (mostly liberal, though), this need for rhetoric instead of recognizing personal responsibility. Decriminalize the fvcking things and tax it. ENCOURAGE people to get high. More ODs means less traffic.

But, either way, the "War on Drugs" is only CAUSING criminal behavior and wasted taxpayer funds.

2002-02-13 09:49:51 AM
He called for "armies of compassion," directed through religious institutions...

Here we go. Again with the religious institutions. I'm glad I don't live in the US where the church ru(i)ns the state. And this from a 'former' drug user with a rilfe in one hand and a bible in the other. I wonder what type of liquor he indulges in while spewing this crap?

". Illegal drugs are the enemies of ambition and hope."

There are soooo many things wrong with Bush's stance on this, so I'll fixate on just one. But it's perhaps the most important distortion that Bush and his ilk are working with.

When he says "illegal drugs", which drugs is he talking about? Cocaine? heroin? weed? LSD? Speed? Ex? Prescription drugs that are OK for those who have a little slip of paper or evil for those who don't?

Does Bush even know the difference? Being able to tell the difference between illegal drugs is priority no. 1. Equating crack cocaine with pot is doing more damage than pot ever will.

Educate thyself.

He knows most of the drug dealers personally. His extended family know the rest.

I believe everyone incarcerated as a result of the "War on Drugs" should be granted POW status. I'd say the Crips and Bloods have very formalized uniforms, dealers have well defined "territories". A case could be made for it... Any law school students out there need a term paper?

It's not truly a "war" more like a "military action."
This ensures we don't have to treat those terrorists (addicts) like we agreed to.

Bomb the teens!

2002-02-13 10:06:21 AM
When are the policticians and social losers going to admit the war on drugs was lost a long time ago.

This is the kind of wasteful spending the US government perpetuates with propoganda such as this.

Now, let's all go buy a few hammers for $1.3 at our local home depot. Oh, I used the word pot with the de...

Nationwide drug use to be reduced by 25%? Don't worry guys, I'll pick up the slack.

Havent' they learned yet that the war on drugs is unwinnable? Their flagship program D.A.R.E. is not effective, and a gigantic waste of money, drug use among teenagers remains largely unchanged, and the only thing really affected by busts is the street price.

Here are some links:

http://detnews.com/specialreports/2000/dare/
http://www.time.com/time/education/article/0,8599,99564,00.html

woohoo! More money for pointless programs! Can we say "missle defense sheild" or "corporate tax breaks"?

2002-02-13 10:11:34 AM
I for one am sure that this will succeed. With his "army of compassion", he'll wage a "War on Drugs" which can do nothing but do well!

The novel and original ideas Bush has put forth clearly show how great a leader he is. With the love and peace that only organized religion can provide, he will cut a swath in the drug use of the USA.

2002-02-13 10:12:31 AM
Why can't a person with a drug history be against drugs. Its just like all those former gang members that now try to get kids out of gangs or former smack addicts that speak publicly about how they turned their lives around. If he wants to reduce drug abuse, great. Since the gov is going to tax me out of my hard earned money anyway, I would rather it go to preventing drug use than saving the lives of OD'd cokeheads.

2002-02-13 10:12:59 AM
This article should be titled: "Bush paying churches tax dollars to love drug addits into quiting drugs."

"He called for "armies of compassion," directed through religious institutions, to send the message that "We love you. We love you so much we're going to convince you not to use drugs in the future."

Wouldn't this only help those that go to church? Wonder how many heroin addicts go to church.

2002-02-13 10:15:56 AM
Oh, he's going to lock up his daughters within the next 5 years then?

2002-02-13 10:18:44 AM
No, hard time for drug crime only applies to people who are not members of the Bush family.

2002-02-13 10:19:56 AM
Nah - he's just going to send them to church for extra lovin'. That'll drive satan out of his kin.

2002-02-13 10:19:58 AM
I predict that this extra money will have little or no effect on fighting our nation's drug problem, and, further more, said money could, in fact, be better spent by just giving it to me.

2002-02-13 10:24:08 AM
OK, buying drugs supports terrorists? I see where the anti-Drug campaigns are going, so what if its homegrown stuff. Is it ok to smoke it if you manufactufe it. ?

2002-02-13 10:25:15 AM
does anyone find it ironic that they'll play anti-drug commercials in the same sequence as beer commercials??

2002-02-13 10:29:25 AM
Walt --
One can reject drugs persoanlly after recovery without advocating police state tactics. What I find troubling is this holier than thou attitude that characterizes so many who clean up their lives. Why, now that I have found religion, all the rest of you must be baptized and quit yer smokin' and drinkin'! IMO the best way to proselytize is to lead by example, not to put guns to peoples' heads (figuratively or literally) and demonstrate one's hypocrisy. Bush OTOH, takes the Republican approach, exemplified best perhaps by the character Elmer Gantry. My hope is that W relapses at some point so we can learn by public example the chronic and incurable nature of addiction. His preaching sickens.
