That's a f_u_c_k_e_d up tag line.

2002-02-12 06:09:32 PM
HAW! HAW! BURN THE CHRISTIANS! SEE IF I CARE!!

2002-02-12 06:09:55 PM
Calm, yet tense? how does that work?

2002-02-12 06:10:17 PM
Ok...they say held...

Does this mean they caught the guy?

Wouldnt this be important and something that shouldnt have been left off the artice?

2002-02-12 06:10:59 PM
God is SO XXX. If anyone knew anything, they would go with YYY...

2002-02-12 06:11:07 PM
As long as my God has money involved, then it is worth the investment. Right?

2002-02-12 06:11:49 PM
Isn't it ironic that today is the day to look out for terrorism, this guy has an explosive device, and he took over a religious studies class?

Yet, CNN keeps following the story saying "So far, no terrorist attacks to report".

2002-02-12 06:12:45 PM
Pbj... thats a dumb-ass article. Does it mean the guy's still in there or what!???

2002-02-12 06:12:49 PM
pray with me. can I have a hallelujahgobble?

43%
2002-02-12 06:13:07 PM
oh, now it's 17...

2002-02-12 06:13:36 PM
This headline is lame. 43%, you suck. I have no problem with bashing the outrageous religious extremists, but bashing religious studies students after they've been taken hostage by a crazy? Worst. Headline. Ever.

2002-02-12 06:15:31 PM
I blame the Jesuits../sarcasm/

Fairfield University is a private Jesuit university with 3,100 undergraduate students, 1,000 graduate students and 1,000 continuing education students.

2002-02-12 06:16:31 PM
very crappy tagline

2002-02-12 06:17:21 PM
Get over it. You act surprised as though fark were a tasteful, unbiased news source.

2002-02-12 06:18:21 PM
I'm not surprised. As an undergrad I had to take a couple of religious studies courses for one of my majors. It was a damn scary crowd; not too much of a stretch to imagine one of them snapping.

2002-02-12 06:18:55 PM
Finger: hey do you have a computer or something?

2002-02-12 06:19:08 PM
This sucks. I hope they get a clean shot at this guy and send him to hell.

What the fark is wrong with people?

Exibit A for bringing back caning and beheadings.

2002-02-12 06:19:22 PM
Please accept my vote for "Headline of the Year"

Offensive to a good portion of the population, completely crass and making light of a serious situation. Refreshes completely.

2002-02-12 06:20:03 PM
I think the headline is perfect with all the terroist stuff going around.

Too bad they got an 8 year old to write the artice...

guess they dont teach the Who-What-Where-When-Why-How over a CNN.

Am I the only one who actually found the tagline funny?

2002-02-12 06:22:44 PM
I'm with Bootysama...how can it be "calm, yet tense"? HM?

And does Finger still have a computer?

2002-02-12 06:22:51 PM
MSNBC says 18 held...

DivineOb- Yes, you depraved wretch. They should have locked you up years ago.

2002-02-12 06:23:06 PM
I doubt he or she has a bomb. It is probably mid-terms and they flipped out.

2002-02-12 06:23:18 PM
DivineOb:

I thought it was very funny.

2002-02-12 06:23:22 PM
I thought it was funny...but Im a sick bastard.

They have updated the article...it still sux.

Though it looks as if the guy is still in there.

2002-02-12 06:23:38 PM
The article doesn't mention anyone even being wounded, much less being killed yet. He's also released some of the hostages, which is a good sign. It's a pretty safe bet that as long as no one goes in shooting the situation will be resolved without violence.

2002-02-12 06:24:37 PM
Nope. I laughed, too. The story is sad, tragic, and scary - whatever. But still, funny headline make me laugh.

2002-02-12 06:25:35 PM
"It's a very controlled situation," he said.

Yeah, the bad guy is in control of the situation.

Calm but tense is easy folks. Calm means that you are not freaking out. Tense means that you are stressed, as in tension. Feeling serious stress without freaking out is very possible.

2002-02-12 06:26:30 PM
The tagline didn't make me laugh until I read the article. I was expecting some sort of mass suicide, which still would have made the tagline funny.

2002-02-12 06:26:44 PM
Tasteless headline. No reason to write it like that at all. It's disappointing.

Would you still find it as funny if you had a loved one in the classroom? Wait til it ends without a bloodbath and then joke about the religion of the people staring at a maniac with a weapon. I'm sure your laughter at their situation would be very consoling to them right now as they wait to see whether they live or die.

2002-02-12 06:27:03 PM
First that guy on the roof of the capitol with a camera. Now a second incident in Connecticut? WTF?? I swear this state is going downhill....its turning into the south. (I have a feeling that last comment is going to piss some people off)

2002-02-12 06:27:17 PM
Hey, this is a serious situation. Cause there are some ladies in there that ought to be havin' my baby. my baaaay-beeeee.

2002-02-12 06:28:01 PM
the headline is perfect

good work 43

2002-02-12 06:28:45 PM
Since when did Fark get so serious?

2002-02-12 06:30:20 PM
I didn't find it funny or offensive.

2002-02-12 06:30:28 PM

Sweater Girl:

In America people are only truly bad if they are not white. This case in Connecticut cannot be terrorism because the hostage taker is not a non-jewish Middle Easterner. If white people could be terrorists then America's (cue jingle) "War on terrorism" would involve helping the Brits with Northern Ireland and condemning the Russians for Chechnya.

2002-02-12 06:31:43 PM
To headline-bashers: would this not be a likely time for the faithful to ask, "Where is God when I need Him?" ... I bet they're all looking for the well-known Footprints in the Sand ...

There's a differecne between being serious and not making fun of someone's religion as their are currently in a life-or-death situation. Making fun of this would be like saying something like "Well atleast the city will have a smaller payroll" when the WTC fell down ontop of the firefighters. Like I said, wait til they get out ok before you start making fun of something that is probably very important to them right now.

2002-02-12 06:32:13 PM
i dont know some bible thumpers decided to move in and its been downhill ever since

2002-02-12 06:32:20 PM
So what? We can't find some things tasteless and other things funny? Whoever said we had to be consistent?

2002-02-12 06:32:23 PM
"Tasteless headline. No reason to write it like that at all. It's disappointing."

This coming from someone named Dr. Vile....

Yea...really Vile man....ohhhhhhhh....

2002-02-12 06:33:06 PM
Damn man, that headline confused the shiat out of me for a sec. Then my light bulb went on, and I laughed my ass off. Good job, poster.

And LordWatson hit the head on the nail....or is it the nail on the head...I don't know, I'm not good with construction.

2002-02-12 06:33:24 PM
Conceded Zkm. Just so you know I was taught by Jesuits as well...so I'm making fun of my own if I make fun of those people. But I see your point and now agree with it.

2002-02-12 06:35:23 PM

If I had a loved one there, I don't think I'd be reading Fark right now anyway. This is Fark, where tasteless jokes abound. If you don't like it, I won't miss you.

2002-02-12 06:36:43 PM
Pbjrfym- What are you thinking?! Your comment is so devoid of any meaning. Do you not understand people's lives are in peril? Does that mean anything to you?!!!!!!!

2002-02-12 06:36:46 PM
Stop your biatching about the headline. We have all seen worse.

Lord Watson- How dow know what he or she looks like? Plus wasn't Tim McVeigh white and a terrorist. Oh no, it looks like the theory just ate shiat.

2002-02-12 06:37:50 PM
This looks like a job for Tubcat
