Slam dunk! Another clean arrest, fair trial, and swift judgement. Go Israel!

...oh wait, they just took him out with a rocket attack.

To get it out of the way all in one post:
Morons now rebut: They didn't give a fair trial to the ones they killed in the suicide bombings! You Nazi!

Gawrsh, you're right. That completely justifies sinking to the level of the other terrorists and just using rockets to perform assassinations instead of using a justice system like a civilized nation might. My bad for ever questioning Israel's right to behave like the animals they say they're protecting themselves from.

Bashir ad-Dabbash, 38, was the most senior leader within Palestinian territories of the group that is sworn to destroying the Jewish state and at the forefront of a suicide bombing campaign during a 4-year-old Palestinian uprising.

I'm good with this one too...Nice shootin' Tex!

2004-10-05 04:16:27 PM
terrorism isn't a crime, it's an act of war. you can't use a justice system

2004-10-05 04:17:04 PM
Somehow I don't see this making a BIT of difference.

2004-10-05 04:17:06 PM
Technoblake

That goes double for me. I thought the US was going to go after this guy, anyhow. Saves us the trouble.

What could go wrong?

2004-10-05 04:17:19 PM
While I agree with Israel's right to defend itself, I have to wonder why the US is giving it all the support it does... I mean, really... How do US Citizens benefit?

Hopefully someone will bring that fat nazi Sharon to justice some day.

2004-10-05 04:17:49 PM
Well, this won't fan the flames of unrest in the Middle East.

2004-10-05 04:18:10 PM
Israel has killed the top commander of the Islamic Jihad militant group in a Gaza airstrike, drawing vows of revenge that could complicate efforts to end a massive Israeli offensive into the strip.

This paragraph totally sums up the problem. An Israeli success in reducing the probability of terrorist attacks - i.e. killing a major terrorist, is likely to complicate efforts to be successful in reducing the probability of terrorist attacks because it will cause more of them.

2004-10-05 04:18:17 PM
Golf clap. One less scum on this earth.

Note to others: you can't make peace with scum like this guy Dabbash. Thinking otherwise is just foolishness.

2004-10-05 04:18:17 PM
Rich-

Reagan explained it all; it's in the Book of Revelations!!

2004-10-05 04:18:58 PM
Ah... Time to crank up the old future prediction machine:

Islamic Terrorists Attack And Kill 50 Israelis In Bomb Attack.

2004-10-05 04:19:03 PM
So paradoxflux, you are saying that war isn't criminal?
That our justice system isn't made for extreme cases, and should be shut down when things get out of hand?

Thanks for all the faith put into society. The rest of the world thanks you for it.

If this is Bush's big October surprise, then he is so going to lose this election.

Don't forget Poland.

Is that stone throwing kid next?

2004-10-05 04:19:18 PM
Is it me or does this reporter Nidal al-Mughrabi sound pretty biased? Calling Hamas "the kindred Hamas group"? And what's this counting from "big suicide bombing"? So small suicide bombings dont count to this loon?

I have no sympathy for terrorists who blow up kids and buses... Israel can shoot all the militants it wants.

2004-10-05 04:19:29 PM
Call me when they finally blast Yassir Arafat.

Well done Israel

2004-10-05 04:19:47 PM
unlikely

For Israel to [sink] themselves to the level of other terrorists would mean they purposefully targeted a palestinian bus for this assassination in order to maximize casualties. Seems to me the Palestinians are the ones that have perfected that tactic.

2004-10-05 04:19:49 PM
Someone please post the cycle of violence for violence diagram...

Thanks.

Counter Terrorists Win?

2004-10-05 04:20:09 PM
if you kill us 10 will take our place.

2004-10-05 04:20:17 PM
Asteron I'm sure Palistine wouldn't be suicide bombing if they had tanks and jet fighters sent to them from America.

2004-10-05 04:20:45 PM
Good riddance, enjoy your 72 baseball bat impaled goats.

2004-10-05 04:20:46 PM
"Islamic Jihad will not be broken by this martyrdom," said Khaled al-Batsh, a senior political leader in Gaza. "Islamic Jihad's armed wing will return this strike with tougher strikes against the Zionist entity."

Uhhh. Didn't they kill Hamas'leader or is this nutcase referring to the whole concept of Islamic Jihad?

In any case I'm glad to see that they won't be broken by this martyrdom and that it sounds like they're looking forward to their chance at martyrdom.

DING DING!
NEXT!

2004-10-05 04:21:24 PM
Unlikely

Isn't it US tactics to just bomb em?

or is this different then when the terrorist do it?

2004-10-05 04:21:42 PM
Unlikely

What in the hell are you talking about? When someone declares war on you, you don't need a trial to smoke their ass. Unless you're a pantywaste spineless liberal like John Kerry.

2004-10-05 04:21:54 PM
The guy was only 38... Probably not in a wheelchair, either. Sounds like the Israelis have been working on their aim!

Go Israel!

2004-10-05 04:22:06 PM
Good.

2004-10-05 04:22:20 PM
This paragraph totally sums up the problem. An Israeli success in reducing the probability of terrorist attacks - i.e. killing a major terrorist, is likely to complicate efforts to be successful in reducing the probability of terrorist attacks because it will cause more of them.

You're basing that logic on a fauly assumption. You assume that suicide bombers are somehow "holding back" their attacks. These people hate Israel and hate freedom, and they'll attack any chance they get. Israel has to stop these attacks constantly.

If the terrorists are able to strike, they do. It's not like making them more angry will make them strike more, because they're already trying 100%.

2004-10-05 04:22:31 PM
culturemock - beat me to it.

plus... i highly doubt the recently killed leader would ever put himself in harms way.

2004-10-05 04:22:42 PM
i don't pretend to understand all the politics of the region, but based on my limited understanding, i'm pretty sure that this killing, justified or not, isn't going to do the first thing to end hostilities. i'm not sure anything is going to end hostilities in my lifetime.

/plans to live forever

2004-10-05 04:22:47 PM
unlikely

I like that combo there, a transparent straw man thing, and then a pseudo-Godwin thing. Very impressive. And impressvely timed too, although next time I would argue with another poster, and not that straw guy.

2004-10-05 04:23:13 PM
unlikely
I suppose we should have arrested and tried every Nazi or Japanese soldier in WWII instead of just shooting at them.

2004-10-05 04:23:30 PM
yaayyyy!!!!!! thank you isreal! thank you america! i love killing and death!!! yayyy!!! after this thousands more will die!! yayyyyy!!!!
