If by "won" you mean lost then Bush definitely won.

2004-10-01 10:09:19 AM

I'll be reading the ensuing comments/flamewars/trolls for the rest of my day! YAY! Something to do today!

2004-10-01 10:10:03 AM
Um, no.

2004-10-01 10:10:04 AM
They really had to hunt to find someone claiming Bush won.

2004-10-01 10:10:12 AM
I think the headline should read..

"Bush wont Masterbate"

2004-10-01 10:10:15 AM
Mr. President, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

2004-10-01 10:10:36 AM
I wouldn't go that far. I don't think I would have been near as kind to Kerry as he was. Kerry's solution for the war is a freaking summit?

2004-10-01 10:10:42 AM
Bush... won?

...

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!!

Ahh, if only this writer would free himself from Bush's "chain", the same Bush has on his daughters.

John Kerry roxored, even Fox News thought so. So... go John Kerry!

2004-10-01 10:10:43 AM
Obviously.

If by "won" you mean "Mission Accomplished!"

2004-10-01 10:11:01 AM
What debate were you watching? You forgot about Poland!

2004-10-01 10:11:23 AM
Worst use ever of the "obvious" tag...

/I think you meant "unlikely"

2004-10-01 10:11:29 AM
i guess this is kinda of a preview of the election

2004-10-01 10:11:57 AM
Faux News Channel is spinning like madmen as we read. It would be funny if the stakes weren't so high.

2004-10-01 10:12:11 AM

GOD-FARKING_DAMMIT!!@!

Stop with the sports comparison already.

2004-10-01 10:12:27 AM
It goes like this: if you preferred bush before the debates, Bush probably won. If you were for kerry, kerry won.

We can close this thread now.

2004-10-01 10:13:07 AM
I'm sorry but the guy who wrote this article makes less sense to me as the article progresses

2004-10-01 10:13:32 AM
kerry's a tool. granted, bush is too.

bush = dumb
kerry = dumber

lesser of the 2 evils.

btw, did you see laura bush's color shifting hat?

2004-10-01 10:13:51 AM
Ok Fark, one of these stories points to the AP, the other "opinioneditorials.com". No one with any sense whatsoever in their head is uying it.

2004-10-01 10:13:52 AM
America lost.

2004-10-01 10:14:08 AM
"Senator Kerry's main message is that Iraq constitutes the "wrong war, in the wrong place, at the wrong time." "

WTF? Just because Bush repeated this statement 15 times does not mean it was Kerry's message. Spinning farkers.

2004-10-01 10:14:16 AM
Straight Facts: Bush won.

Presentation: Kerry won.

Outcome: Probably none.

2004-10-01 10:14:34 AM
HansBlix: LOL!

Yeah, I can sum up this debate with one word:

POLAND!

2004-10-01 10:14:36 AM
Oh goodness, i think I just wetted my panties laughing.

To the pundits who claim Bush won: was the objective of the debate to appear most like a drooling retard? Then you, sirs, are correct in your assessment.

2004-10-01 10:15:36 AM
Saddam... I mean, Osama... Um, you're a flip-flopper...

2004-10-01 10:15:54 AM
whew. i'm glad this guy spoke up. i'm gonna trust one jackass with an op-ed piece WAY more than actual scientific polls.

2004-10-01 10:16:05 AM

well, first off, we should note that the article proclaiming Kerry as the victor is an AP article. the other one is from someone's op-ed.

i don't understand how anyone who saw the debate could say that dubya won it. i wish more news articles were quick to point out that bush bumbled his way through most of his answers, especially when he was forced away from his talking points, and john kerry simply did not. the president was florid and irritated visibly. john kerry kept his composure, took notes, and responded to dubya's idiocy with strength and clarity.

it should be more obvious now than ever, john kerry should be our next president.

2004-10-01 10:17:48 AM
If by laying down in front of a bus, getting crushed and then backed up over again, yeah, then I guess he won.

Please.

2004-10-01 10:18:20 AM
THAT'S MY JOB...

It's hard work

2004-10-01 10:18:28 AM
I don't even like Kerry and I think he got the split decision, with winning points on style more than substance.

If that douchebag hadn't gamed 3 purple hearts so he could go home early to turn on his brothers, he'd have my vote.

He may get it anyway.

2004-10-01 10:18:46 AM
Abysmal. Can't see how to vote for either one. Thanks, major parties, for nothing.

Last night on TV after the debate, I watched one show that had separate numbers posted for bush, kerry, and independent supporters; then they cycled through the numbers so that they were given equal time.

Seemed to me that the Bush supporters mostly parroted the BC04 party lines and didnt make much in the way of reasoned comments.

Kerry supporters and independents (even the ones who said they were leaning bush), all seemed way more confident in their man, expressing great relief that he'd done better than they might have expected, and seemed more well-spoken and educated.

I think there was only one real homerun...or at least a solid triple, and that was when Kerry called Bush out for constantly tying Sadam with 9/11. Another good jab was when he called Bush on pouring money into Iraq but short changing the "first responders." Kerry made two obvious mistkes I thought. The first was when he didn't call Bush on "mission accomplished." Bush gave an answer where he said he would keep troops there until the mission was accomplished in Iraq...and Kerry didn't even mention the comments/banner. The scond mistake was in letting Bush get away with saying the alliance was 30 nations when really it isn't. Kerry could have explained that better since most of the US doesn't seem to understand that out o those 30 nations only about 5 actually have troops there. Although Kerry did point out the %90 thing, I didn't sense that people understant yet.

I think Bush showed his weakness a few times when he admitted he had nothing more to say on the issue and he felt he explained it enough. THen he just smirked and shrugged. But I liked that Bush freely used his extra-time options to continue past the time limit. But Bush WAS freequently lost for words and unsure of what to say other than he "understands", which he doesn't, and that Kerry flip-flops.

The debates were a lot more interesting and not as sanitized as I thought they would be. But I also don't think that either opponent crushed the other in a clear decisive win but it will make the second debates more interesting.

2004-10-01 10:19:09 AM
Hey geniuses. Kerry messed up on Osama/Saddam too. At least try to sound evenhanded

I think the debate was a draw, or at the most, a slight Kerry win. By tomorrow, noone will remember anything both guys said

2004-10-01 10:19:30 AM
Won? What? A consolation prize?

2004-10-01 10:19:32 AM
Gregory A. Borse...? um sorry...BWAHAHAHA! OpenEditorials is far from a definitive news source. The guy is a crank hack nobody.

Based on the fragments I've heard and read -- can't stand modern political "debates" and didn't watch it live -- Bush came out at least even on substance and Kerry showed a lot more style. But we already know Bush can't string more than two or three words together without a glitch.
