It's amazing how lighting, camera angle or photoshop can turn an ugly girl into an attractive one in print. I know what can be done in Photoshop, and sort of understand the potential for lighting. I hardly think Ms Winslet falls into the category of frankenstein or ugly. She presents herself very well, and has a natural attractive quality which I understand doesn't have a universal appeal. Reminds me of Gillian Anderson. I never understood how, in 1996, she came first in FHM's list of teh h0ttays. Despite being a guy, the brains go a long way. I'll take a kinky, creative, fun girl who's 7 over a ditzy girl who's a 10 any day. Kate is cute enough (I guess). And fortunately, she realizes that now that she's getting older and has had a couple kids, she is not and never can be a 9 or a 10 again.

A lot of women are under the impression that you can still be a 10 after 30 - or after a couple kids. You simply can't. Totally delusional.
