2004-09-25 04:07:16 PM
Beware, anyone who shows up late will have to let Kobe Bryant give them a pearl necklace.

2004-09-25 04:18:13 PM

2004-09-25 04:20:43 PM
Have fun you guys. Just moved to Florida from Boulder.

I'm the farking tall bastard, wearing a brown-striped shirt -- I'll try to remember to bring my Homestar Runner beer coaster.

2004-09-25 05:24:25 PM
Damn, I wish I could be there. I used to live in the Dark Horse when I went to school. That was before Boulder became yuppified and had their big California invasion. Back then Dark Horse was part biker hangout, part of redneck, and part student. A couple of buddies of mine were bouncers, and fights used to break out every couple of hours. There was this rich Iranian guy named Eddie who used to buy 100 free rounds at a time. By the time I left Boulder he was up to 80K rounds. Man, those were good times.

When I started to read the headline at first I thought they meant Fark Party like a political party...scary.

2004-09-25 05:30:31 PM
I want to go, but I'm too scared. So everyone have a drink for me. Maybe Eddie, the rich Iranian guy, will be there to pay for it.

2004-09-25 05:30:31 PM
I'll be there, wearing a "boulder bike to work" t-shirt.

2004-09-25 05:32:16 PM
scared?

2004-09-25 05:36:00 PM
Ya. If I were the outgoing type, I wouldn't be online all day, would I?

Also, what if some of you are my former students? I teach at CU...

2004-09-25 05:37:54 PM
damn i should really go. I'm in the springs...but thats a ways up there.....hmmm, we'll see i guess.

2004-09-25 05:47:33 PM
bookgrrl - Although I've never personally met anyone on Fark, my guess is that for the most part we're of the introverted, nonthreatening breed. I understand running into a student might be awkward..

2004-09-25 05:56:07 PM
bookgrrl:

The general consensus is that professors/TAs that we run into at the bars are A-OK. Awkward schmawkward.

As an aside, schmawkward should be my next Fark name.

2004-09-25 05:56:13 PM
Okay, Never Odd or Even, you go and tell me all about it later. I'll check in on this thread in the morning, and hope for some good dancing on the bar stories.

2004-09-25 06:20:52 PM
I'll be there, I'll try to either dig out my Trogdor shirt or bring an Homestar Runner coaster. I'll be the short one who looks 15 but is legally 21.

/damn short parents

2004-09-25 06:23:46 PM
Went to school there, lived there several years (still love it), met my wife (a Boulder native) there... live in Lakewood now. I'd love to meet up with you guys but I've got a prior engagement tonight in Colorado Springs tonight :(

Maybe next time...

2004-09-25 06:24:52 PM
Another Virginian in Colorado. Since I've been here I've almost met more people from Virginia than native Coloradians, Coloradonians, err, people born in Colorado.

Come on - the Springs sucks a bowl of dicks. I should know - I lived most of my life there. I'm only going to be in the Springs tonights because I have to. You, on the other hand, should take advantage of this opportunity to get out of that God-forsaken town, even only for one night, to commune with your fellow Farkers in one of the last bastions of progressive thinking in this state.

2004-09-25 06:28:25 PM
Well, never odd or even, I've met many NOrthern VirginiAns (NOVA's) out here, but you see we Richmonders consider ya'll to be another state, much like West Virginia ;-)

2004-09-25 06:33:03 PM
Yay for NoVA -> CO migrations.

2004-09-25 06:36:07 PM
Hey symphonik or anyone else: Anyone want to host Fark Party Pictures for this thing? I plan on bringing my digicam along.

2004-09-25 06:38:21 PM
Yeah, NoVa isn't like the rest of Virginia. We don't consider ourselves southerners up there, although not really northerners either. You've got to be south of Manassas to really have it be called "The South."

2004-09-25 06:43:35 PM
I've decided the border depends on where you can still get sweet tea. Fredricksburg I think is the border between the north and the south based on that criteria. Just for you Farkers, i'll wear my UVa shirt tonight.

/done lurking and threadjacking

2004-09-25 06:53:10 PM
Love to be there, but I have to work. Have a drink for me.

2004-09-25 07:06:45 PM
Cool! I've been reading Fark for almost a year now, though i seldom have anything to post. I'm a proud Boulderite, the Dark Horse is a great bar (though I'm partial to the Reef myself), and I've been curious when I'd see a Fark party anywhere near where I lived.

Alas, I'll be in Ft. Collins playing poker tonight. Have fun though, all who make it. =)

2004-09-25 07:09:07 PM
I'd love to go, but I live in Golden and only have a bike for transportation.

/doesn't feel like riding the 20+ miles to Boulder.

2004-09-25 07:15:07 PM
So is this thing gonna end up at The Bustop? 'Cause it should.

2004-09-25 07:16:07 PM
astro716: I can host, sure. I'm also bringing mine, but yes, please do bring yours. I'm a really shiatty photographer. ;)

2004-09-25 07:34:59 PM
Say Hi to Mork for me, will ya?

2004-09-25 08:07:56 PM
Holy crapola! Both the Darkhorse and the Bustop are still open after the nearly thirty years since I moved to Boulder County? I was a wet-behind-the-ears teenager working at the McDonalds when the DarkHorse was being built. It seemed like it was going to take forever to open even though the exterior was finished pretty quickly. Once it finally did open I founnd out just why it took so damn long to do the interior. Back in the day, 18 year olds could buy 3.2 beer. The DH wasn't too stringent on enforcing the age thing, particularly when kids smelling like hamburgers, grease and onions came over to drink their lunch. Please, guys, take lotsa pics! I'd love to see what it looks like now. I moved back to Farkistan in the early 80s and haven't been in either bar since the late 70s.

/ol' fart, rememberin' the day

2004-09-25 08:29:38 PM
nooooooooo!!! there was never a Colorado fark party (that i knew of) when i lived in CO, and not that i'm gone, it is there. It is a sad day.

2004-09-25 09:24:08 PM
Just what I always wanted.. To hang out with right-wing Internet nerds.

2004-09-25 09:30:22 PM
Dare I ask, what happens at a Fark party?

As an Aussie, who just happens to be holidaying in Denver at this very minute, I am closer then I wil lever be to one of these things.

I have only posted once, I mainly read and vote in photoshops... But my brother (Veritas) may not forgive me for not attending...

2004-09-25 09:40:34 PM
JeZuS

Dare I ask, what happens at a Fark party?

16 men and 2 women show up at a bar, and the next day pictures are posted, 95% of which are of the 2 girls.

2004-09-25 09:48:44 PM
JeZuS, it sounds to me like you better hop a bus to Boulder or something lest your brother kick you right smack in your Hobart when you get home if you don't attend when you have the chance. Besides, there's probably some Boulder Farkettes that would enjoy a little raz-ma-Taz!

/tru dat (Veritas)

2004-09-25 09:55:32 PM
we will see if I can get there, if I hang around the two farkets then I may get my mug on the web...

2004-09-25 10:36:20 PM
Rats. Now I find out about it...

2004-09-25 10:42:03 PM
*I* am like, the hottest girl ever (this isn't my account, I'm mooching the Total), but was too much of a wuss to figure out where all the cool farkers were, and drove home defeated and feeling like the biggest loser ever.

I really need to get out more.

2004-09-25 11:07:15 PM
They are in Littleton, Denver (Apparantly that is where I am currently) :-)

2004-09-25 11:30:51 PM
Damn it, I would have loved to check out the action tonight, but I didn't get the news in time to find a sitter for the kids.

I have a Bike to Work t-shirt too, but I use it to wrap my Sig Sauer because it is soft, and a horribly ugly green color, so I can't wear it but don't want to give it away. Hence, Sig Sauer wrapper.

I love the Dark Horse and went there with my boyfriend (now husband and father of our many, many kids). Watch that Fat Tire ale, next thing you know you'll be married, have kids, and you'll be watching "Star Wars Micro Series" on Cartoon Network with the kids instead of partying at the Dark Horse.

Hm, come to think of it -- pass me another Fat Tire. My life is paradise. I'll try to catch the next party anyway.

2004-09-26 01:41:51 AM
I told you all I'd post in the thread when I got home, and I'm home, so I'm posting in the thread. I'm Chris, the one with the shaved head. And my email is my fark ID @ colorado.edu so if you all want to hang out later let me know. I had a great time and I can't wait for the pictures.

2004-09-26 01:52:44 AM
...Rats! I /would/ have an emergency come up just before I'm ready to go...well...c'est la vie! next time...maybe nothing stupid will happen to keep herr doktor fryngenstein from making an appearance.

2004-09-26 02:28:09 AM

Just got back from the Fark party and had a bunch of that sweet Fat Tire nectar. No marriage certificate or conception yet but I haven't come down from my buzz yet.

Also, what if some of you are my former students? I teach at CU...

Or your current students. But really, unless you teach in the classics department, you're no ex-teacher of mine. And if you *do* teach in classics, it'd have been nice to see you.

Catch you next time, maybe?

2004-09-26 05:12:00 AM
Boulder Farker here. Shame I didn't read this about 7 hours earlier.

2004-09-26 12:38:13 PM
Ya, maybe, unlikely. I'm not in the classics department, though.
Did you guys have fun? Where are the pictures?!
