Now THAT is a headline to be proud of. Bravo sumbmitter.

2004-09-23 04:26:32 PM
Ground... didn't get it on the first pass... re-read...

Brilliant! hehehe

2004-09-23 04:33:50 PM
Thanks. :)

2004-09-23 04:45:08 PM
Hee. I got it the first time, very funny.

If I may LadyL, that could have been shortened a tad without losing its zing.

2004-09-23 05:00:06 PM
I read the headline hoping that the kid got electrocuted so the headline would be funnier. That's kind of depressing.

But, what a great headline. I give it the thumbs up.

What's with the lurking, LadyLazarus? Damn Lurkers! :)

2004-09-23 05:13:48 PM
closeminded, I thought of that after I hit the submit button... perhaps making a joke of something so awful wasn't a bit much. Sorry if I offended anyone.

2004-09-23 06:02:57 PM
i expect so much more from drug users.

2004-09-23 06:09:26 PM
Where was this at, Omaha?

Yeah, sounds about right.

/great headline btw!

2004-09-23 06:26:04 PM
I'll keep that in mind, submitter! :)

2004-09-23 06:26:49 PM
Read the article.

I want to hunt down these imbiclies, and sterilize them. With a cattle prod plugged into a 220V supply.

Who leaves a 2 year old unattended?

2004-09-23 06:27:59 PM
sick sad circumstance.

great headline.

2004-09-23 06:28:12 PM
My guess was Oklahoma. Close, but no cigar!

2004-09-23 06:28:28 PM
This is pretty funny because I just watched Trainspotting again for the first time in about 6 years

2004-09-23 06:28:34 PM
This is a followup not a PSA.

2004-09-23 06:28:48 PM
I think the PSA tag is more overused than the Ironic tag lately.

2004-09-23 06:29:11 PM
What!? Apologizing for offending someone? What kind of farkette are you?

/jk, sorry if I offended you.

2004-09-23 06:29:54 PM
So the kid got a buzz?

2004-09-23 06:30:26 PM
Wow. One of the most farkin' depressing stories I've read in a while. Prison's too good for the parents/caretakers. I think they should be fed to fire ants. Good job on the headline, but jeezus, what a horror story.

2004-09-23 06:30:55 PM
Is there any way I can sue the electrical utility over this?

2004-09-23 06:31:23 PM
When I was a three year old kid my dad was building a house. He ran inside for a minute and came back out to find me standing on the porch sucking on the business end of an extension cord. The other end was plugged into the wall. Luckily he got it out of my mouth before my saliva ended up shorting out the socket. Strangely enough, I ended up becoming an electrical engineer.

2004-09-23 06:31:39 PM
Awesome headline.

2004-09-23 06:31:44 PM
Best. Headline. Ever.

/cliche
//even more of a cliche since I did the little "slash cliche"
///It's a trap!

2004-09-23 06:32:51 PM
Lovely.

2004-09-23 06:33:00 PM
I find it convenient to be a little more prepared when I'm about to read about an abused and/or deceased child. Being a father thins the skin.

2004-09-23 06:33:04 PM
What an awesome headline!!!

2004-09-23 06:33:09 PM
This is pretty funny because I just watched Trainspotting again for the first time in about 6 years

That bit was sooooo sad. I mean, I actually liked these characters despite them being total fark-ups, and they go and let the baby die. The only guy I really despised in that movie was Begbie, sick fark, and he was the straight one. I guess that was intentional.

2004-09-23 06:33:49 PM
Ha!! An electricians joke!

2004-09-23 06:34:28 PM
sick farkers.

2004-09-23 06:35:05 PM
It's death by electrocution.

/nit-pick.

2004-09-23 06:35:16 PM
Farking twisted. These people need to have their skin peeled from their bodies, dipped in boiling oil, rolled in salt and hung on meat hooks for a few days, then driven slowly through a meat grinder.

/Really hates people who hurt kids

2004-09-23 06:35:19 PM
Wtf is wrong with people?!!?!

2004-09-23 06:35:33 PM
Hot damn, thats a good headline.

2004-09-23 06:35:37 PM
warpedo

So the bit in the headline about locking your kid in a room so you can smoke meth didn't give you a hint that something bad was about to happen?

2004-09-23 06:35:42 PM
Oh, you can tell the the guy in the cartoon is an electrician because he's carrying cables PLUS he's got lighting bolts shooting out of his body.

You just know he's a serious electrician!

2004-09-23 06:36:12 PM
When I was two or three I stuck a paperclip in the wall socket in my room. Seemed like the thing to do at the time...perfect fit and all. Burned the shiat out of my hand and explains my bizarro mindset today, I'm sure. I distinctly remember thinking, "Must let go. Must let go." And finally it either kicked me off or the circuit breaker flew. An hour or so later over dinner, my mother smelled my hand...which I was sitting on to conceal, and she asked if I'd been playing with matches. I started crying and she got mad thinking I had been. When she finally saw my hand and figured out the truth, I'm not sure who bawled more...me or her. How a paperclip found its way into my room I'll never know.

2004-09-23 06:38:04 PM
Am I the only one who's wondering what movie she watched?

2004-09-23 06:38:04 PM
Oh, and getting off the asshat post, I would think a staple would act more like a fuse then a closed circuit if it were placed in an outlet. I dropped a staple on some exposed tongs before, and the damn thing pretty much exploded into smoke.

How thin does a fuse have to be to blow on a 20amp/120volt circuit?

2004-09-23 06:39:18 PM
crisp

The comedic tone of the headline combined with the lack of 'sad' tag made me put my guard down.

2004-09-23 06:39:29 PM
I am shocked.

2004-09-23 06:39:45 PM
Wtf is wrong with people?!!?!

Shotty evolution. That and degenerative DNA, would be my guess.

2004-09-23 06:40:56 PM
shoddy.

/lowers head

2004-09-23 06:41:05 PM
Leroy-B

He also appears to be wielding a massive vibrator of some sort. This electrician comes prepared.

2004-09-23 06:41:16 PM
That's why you lock the kid in the trunk of the car. Nothing bad can happen that way. Duh!!!

2004-09-23 06:41:41 PM
Abused little kids dying painfully -- teh funnay!

Electrocution isn't some instaneous "he never felt it" thing. A dumbshiat 12-year-old bully in our neighborhood climbed an electrical pole on a dare and on the way up reached for something he should have tested with the back of his hand, not the palm. That way, when the heavy voltage coursed through his nerves like Galvan's severed frogs' legs, his hand would have involuntarily shut around nothing.

Instead, Brian was locked to the live current, frying him from the hand to the body, until he was literally blown off the line, falling twenty feet to the pavement and even then living just long enough for it to be miserable. I didn't see the body but the adults at the scene were ashen-faced.

Care to come up with a funny headline for that one, people?

/but when it's stupid adults, I have to admit it's hilarious. Nonsmoking, please

2004-09-23 06:42:04 PM
nice headline, although at that point he WAS the ground

2004-09-23 06:42:23 PM
LeroyB, you're my kind of humorist.

2004-09-23 06:42:34 PM
Best Headline Ever!

the news makes me sick.. :(~

2004-09-23 06:43:05 PM
Last time I checked a paper staple stuck in a wall outlet burns up with a quick pop and shower of sparks.

Must have been a packing staple.
