Amusing?

What's ice got to do with anything. Charlotteans can't drive anyway. Those figures are probably an increase of 5% above and average clear day. Hey, Charlotteans, use a farkin' turn signal once in a while!!

2002-02-08 03:33:27 PM
Damn, it's about 60 degrees, perfectly clear blue sky and beautiful with no wind here in RTP area... sucks to be in Charlotte now I guess.

Obviously a terrorist plot. Has France surrendered yet?

Damn. I'm supposed to drive to Tahoe with a guy from Charlotte today.

Following a particularly long delay on the Billy Graham, French officials had this to say:

    "We Surrender!"

2002-02-08 03:40:34 PM
Could someone from the area please explain this to me? I don't get it. To me: ICY ROAD = SLOW DOWN.

Atlanta surrenders in sympathy.

what a bunch of winter whimps.
I'd like to see everyone south of the mason dixon
line try and survive a Canadian winter.
They'd surrender quicker than a bunch of Frenchmen at Octoberfest.

I'll be 90% of the accidents were caused by idiots in their big-ace SUV's...

"I gots 4 wheel drive, I can drives as fast I wants too."

Then get one of THESE, you rednecks.

ALL us Canadians have one...

I'm sure the same thing would of happened in Atlanta.

Nobody in North Carolina can drive. Add that to the fact jackasses think they're invincible in their SUVs and you get a lot of idiots smashing into each other. (Nobody in Atlanta can drive either, although I had fun getting in the left lane of I-85 and doing 115 mph when I was there last.)

2002-02-08 03:46:45 PM
StrongBad: Not in Charlotte. This city grew too big too fast and the roads are not equipped to handle it. Additionally, the average Charlotte native can't handle it because they insist on driving the way they always have. Then the newcomers have to try to keep up. Hilarity insues (if you're not in the middle of it).

2002-02-08 03:47:21 PM
I've driven in several different states.

North Carolina drivers are by far the worst I've ever come across. Especially around Chapel Hill.

2002-02-08 03:48:49 PM
Oops_all_berries: I'll bet you've never driven in Boston.

2002-02-08 03:49:51 PM
I live in Charlotte. The problem is that there was no snow, no sleet, nothing except maybe a little rain last night. Then it froze over this morning and it was complete black ice. The roads may have been icy but there was absolutely no way to tell where it was icy and where it wasn't. It a lot of places, people may not have even known it was icy at all until they skidded into something. It was actually kind of freaky...

2002-02-08 03:49:56 PM
can all of the yankees come out of the woodwork please and tell the southerners how you drive in 10 feet of snow and ice with one arm tied behind your back while eating lunch, smoking a cigarette, putting on your makeup and talking on your cell phone.

Cary(NC) drivers by far are the worst drivers i have ever had the misfortune of running for my life from.

and if you think they are bad on the roads, get them in a parking lot(they WILL try to kill pedestrians). 80% of them drive SUVs, they think they own the road and they are not afraid to cause a wreck to prove a point.

2002-02-08 03:54:43 PM
27 injuries and one death.

Yeah, farking hilarious.

2002-02-08 03:57:26 PM
That's right, Satanslittlehelper, farking hilarious.

I wished more southern simpletons died in car wrecks. The same holds for yuppies on cell phones, SUV drivers in general, and tailgaters.

What's wrong with that? They were stupid and they paid the price. Why are you feeling sorry for them?

I wouldn't call that hilarious...27 deaths and 1 injury, now THATS hilarious.

Say what you will about Charlotte's drivers, but NEW JERSEY drivers are the absolute WORST . Connecticut drivers are pretty bad too. They can't stay in one lane for more than 30 seconds before boredom sets in and they have to change lanes (usually without looking). And answer me this...

For the past year, there has been an area of I-95 at exit 2 where trucks park. Why must EVERYONE stop and look?

Truck-stop hookers?

2002-02-08 04:16:27 PM
Every morning on the traffic report there are massive tie-ups at the Hudson River Crossings. Know why? New Jerseyans that work in Manhattan refuse to take mass transit. The East River crossings aren't nearly as bad. The only reason the BQE backs up is those frigging Jersey drivers that come up through Staten Island and Brooklyn.

Take this NYC traffic situation and add a bad snow storm. Hilarity ALWAYS ensues.

Last winter there was a bad snowstorm that dropped about a foot and half of snow on Metro NY. 278 was backed up from the Bruckner Interchange in the Bronx down through Queens, Brooklyn, Staten Island, and into Jersey. 40 miles of fun, fun, fun. All because you Jersey assholes can't take a frigging train once in a while.

I live in Charlotte and I didn't even know there was any ice out there. The reason is simple, I try to stay off the roads here even on a good day. People here do not know how to drive.

Let me ask some of you people in other parts of the world...

When you're at a red light, and it turns green, what do you do?

People in Charlotte look at each other, as if they're waiting for some kind of advice.

What about when you're in a left turn lane, and you get a green arrow? Do you make the left turn? I always did until I moved to Charlotte. I can't now BECAUSE THE PERSON IN FRONT OF ME IS WAITING FOR SOME KIND OF SIGN... A SIGN OTHER THAN THE GREEN ARROW! And when the damn thing changes to a yellow arrow, everyone SLAMS ON THEIR BRAKES! Everywhere else I have ever been, at least a half-dozen people can legally get through the yellow arrow... BUT NOT IN CHARLOTTE.

I guess my question is this...

HOW ARE SO MANY PEOPLE HITTING EACH OTHER IN A TOWN WHERE NOBODY EVER MOVES?????

2002-02-08 04:22:25 PM
It's too bad about what happened in Charlotte; people should probably be more careful, but car accidents are never funny...you farking insensitive jerkwads.

What IS hilarious is how people from different states always claim that people in other states are "the worst drivers in the world." There are bad drivers everywhere, very few good ones anywhere, and we all make stupid mistakes on the road...probably without even realizing it.

If everyone would just farking relax on the road, driving would be a much more tolerable experience in general.

A-bomb-

I'm inviting you to personally watch the Cross Bronx Expressway from my apartment where many a retarded NJ driver causes many a near-miss and many a pissed off Aorlando . You up for it?

I work for a large computer company in Charlotte (MBI)spell backwards, and this morning it was patchy ice and they were telling everyone on TV to slow down and they were saying it on all the radio stations.

Archfiend: You are correct, it was freaky, I was going up I-85 this morning going about 55 and people were passing me doing 80-85. I have lived here for 3 years and pepole here do drive like maniacs. I was glad to make it there alive.

2002-02-08 04:29:25 PM
The only think I keep looking at in that article is the phrase "Billy Graham Parkway." How sad is it that he had a parkway named after him....YIKES.

2002-02-08 04:32:09 PM
They renamed the Interboro Parkway in Queens the "Jackie Robinson Parkway". Why? If it was because he was a good black baseball player who played on a New York team, why don't we have a Willie Randolph Parkway, or Dave Winfield Avenue? I hate how the left makes heroes out of ordinary people.

2002-02-08 04:34:22 PM
Aorlando,

I'm sure that there are horrible drivers on the Cross Bronx Expressway causing near miss accidents and many pissed off people. I don't doubt it for an instant. It's just that they're no worse than the morons on the 405 who drive in the EXIT ONLY lane and then swerve into the next lane over at the last instant. Drivers in NJ are no worse or better than the ones in CA...or AZ...or WI...or NC...or WY.

But seriously, what good does it do to get upset - the person you're mad at doesn't feel bad. You just waste mental energy.

A-bomb-

I see your point that bad driver exist everywhere. However, Jersey drivers fall into 3 categories.

A) Soccer mom driving a brand new (insert high end SUV here) up the ass of everyone in front of her, while bulls.hitting on a cell phone, applying make-up, disciplining her kids, drinking coffee, and smoking a butt all at the same time. Then slamming on her brakes the second a car 5 cars in front taps theirs.

B) Old man in the left lane doing 15 mph. He's the guy that keeps making the soccer mom above slam on her brakes

C) trashy teen in Camarobird/"sales executive" in BMW (essentially the same person, just 15 years apart) that weaves in and out of traffic without courtesy for side moulding, mirrors, bumpers, etc.

Combine this with the fact that at any one time on any given workday, there are over a million of these people in the 5 boroughs, and you can see that driving in New York is hard because of the Jersey drivers.

Aorlando New Jersey drivers are certainly better than new york drivers when it comes to fatal or drunk-driving related crashes. Check the stats my friend.

http://www.census.gov/Press-Release/statelis.htm

it's always the loser NewYorkers who didn't learn to drive until they were 25 that cause all the problems.

Doo dah, doo dah...

2002-02-08 04:52:48 PM
Aorlando - you know what would be great? If all the assholes who live in NJ and work in NYC would just move to
the city. BTW, everyone in NJ doesn't drive like an asshole - just those in close proximity to NYC. Hmmm, why do you suppose that is?

2002-02-08 04:58:21 PM
I lived in Chapel Hill for two years. It snowed for about a week one winter. My dad went to the store to buy a loaf of bread and some other things, and it was all gone. We were quite amused, being Alaskan and all...
