That would be like saying "It's clearly a Special Olympics because there is a large gathering of congresspeople."

Or would it be "There's clearly a vote going on because there is a large gathering of congresspeople."

Oh, nevermind, they both are the same thing.

Astrocat, democrats.com...now there is a source for unbiased news - heheheheheh

Did you ever read the "fules" associated with being a member of their forums? Something to the effect that "you must agree with us or you will be banned!"

Also, the bozo that set it up is an ex-Clinton staffer.

LMAO

1. You have a very dumb name also, thanks for not liking mine.

2. You must be one of the stupid liberals I was refering to, chump.

2002-02-07 01:56:26 PM
Skinner: So, I'm assuming the point you are making is that the article merely recounts the reporter's story. It's not proof Bush lied.

Here's a better article for those who are prepared to look at this objectively. All politicians lie. Right wing and left wing. If you are too pig-headed with your political stance to realize that, you can't be helped.

"Here's a better article for those who are prepared to look at this objectively. All politicians lie. Right wing and left wing. If you are too pig-headed with your political stance to realize that, you can't be helped."

No shiat. The American public couldn't take it if they actually told them the truth, and they certainly wouldn't elect them. You'll notice earlier I said they are "all" slimy once they reach that level of power in this country (especially the elected officials). I did not say all Republicans or Democrats are slimy. They all have to suck some dick of big money to get where they are. Then once they get their they owe their souls to the money interests.
My only reason for pointing out when a Republican lies is that they are the ones that always claim the moral high ground. They preach about how they and their families are above the "other" side and their immoral conduct, so it's always funny to catch them in the act of hypocricy.

Oooooh, I guess you showed me, Archie. I am oh so chastened...

Skinner: Are you completely retarded? Bush admitted he was arrested once he could no longer hide from it. And notice, Bush's campaign immediately went on the offensive after the news surfaced. Making a charge that the whistleblower was an insider for the Gore campaign, and this was all a dirty trick conspiracy by Gore and the Democrats.

Get your head out of yer' ass, dude. He lied. Get over it.

That doesn't change the fact that Dumbya is a lying, alcoholic, cocaine sniffing, weak, stupid, sorry ass draft dodging, pretzel choking bumbling fool, who doesn't belong in the White House, much less anywhere near the red button should he get drunk again(which he will)and fall down and blow every blessed thing off the face of the earth!

It's like when our wonderful Indiana Representative, Dan Burton, went on and on about how immoral Clinton was. Then came the news that Danny boy had an illegitimate child from an extra-marital affair. You didn't quite hear as much from him after that. So really, it's the hypocricy that bothers me the most.

2002-02-07 02:10:06 PM
Of course Bush's budget has pictures in it. How else are Florida Democrats going to be able to understand it? These people are already confused by big black arrows, imagine what numbers would do to their puny brains.

If we want to turn this into a pissing contest over whose President lied least, Reagan lied about selling arms to Iran, so the proceeds could be used to free a country (Nicaragua) from a tyrannical regime. Reagan's motives were pure.

Clinton lied to Congress about getting a hummer from Monica when he should have been executing the office of the United States President. Bad Billy.

W lied about getting a DWI years before. BFD. So what? Driving drunk is not going to seriously impair his ability to execute the office of the Chief Executive. Clinton was too busy getting laid to realize that maybe he should have kept a better eye on the Middle East. And Reagan is my hero. Happy Belated Birthday, Ron!

Die liberal pigs.

2002-02-07 02:10:46 PM
speaking from a designers stand point, Bush prob. included pictures to get a better reaction from those who would read it. the layout and design of a publication, no matter what it is, can greatly effect it's meaning. a good design can evoke emotion. in this case, Bush is prob. looking to push the image of ground zero to make people feel bad and ignore the large amount of money going to "homeland security"

end rant . . .

2002-02-07 02:13:04 PM
OK - Reagan lied about Iran contra.
Clinton lied about getting a blow job.
Dubya lied about his alcohol history and refuses to talk about his coke habit.

I'm thinking lying about a hummer is the least of these "crimes".

Dubya - millionaire rich kid alcoholic cokehound until his forties, briliant enough to become president. Clinton - child of a poor single mother in Arkansas, becomes Rhodes scholar and two term president. OK, you're right Bush must be smarter - he could have been raised in poor surroundings, been an alky for 20 years, done a shiatload of coke and become president... riiiiigghhht. Without daddy's money he'd have been a street bum and Laura wouldn't have given him a second look.

Archibald: "No, being popular does not make you smart. Thats where becoming president of the U.S comes in, that makes you smart." OK so Bush Sr., 4 and out. That makes him not so smart as Clinton, right?
Now Dubya, he has yet to prove whether he can do the 8... we'll see.

Just to clue everyone in, there's a lot of jokes about Dubya being a bit dim in the brain department. Ask yourselves why? No-one thinks Cheney is dumb, its just GWB, he's such a farkin' idiot - he actually IS pretty stupid, in reality, for real... I don't believe all Republicans are bad, or stupid, or whatever, just GWB - he's a twit (Oooh - python reference... Upper class twit of the year.)

And why is that wrong? I'd rather feel safe knowing that terrorists aren't going to be able to waltz into Yankee Stadium and bomb the World Series this October than continuing to piss money away on social programs. Let W get as much emotional sympathy as he can to get this budget passed. At least the money will be used for all Americans, and not just baby factories and rug addicts.

/end rant

Ok...

The Bush DWi was covered in a "Frontline" piece on PBS several weeks before it was picked up by the national news outlets.....it seems that it was only "news" to them.

Astrocat, "...I'm biased, so what? You're not?"

Biased is one thing...

'Reagan lied about selling arms to Iran, so the proceeds could be used to free a country (Nicaragua) from a tyrannical regime'

oh yes, the Ortega regime was SO tyrannical.

the fact is, the USA was just pissed off at Ortega because he spearheaded the popular movement to topple Somoza

Kenneth Lay's political contributions since 1989:

LAY, KENNETH L MR & MRS
Total: $882,580
Democrats:$86,470
Republicans:$793,110

Just to throw more fuel on the fire...it was getting smaller and the flame-war was just getting good.

2002-02-07 02:19:09 PM
What do Ken Lay's political contributions have to do with anything?

What exactly did Bush do with Enron that's the problem?

2002-02-07 02:19:17 PM
"Reagan lied about selling arms to Iran, so the proceeds could be used to free a country (Nicaragua) from a tyrannical regime. Reagan's motives were pure."

Of course, since he went around Congress to do so making it extra-Constitutional there is no conflict of interest in that lie--all pure and wonderful for the Republic.
I'll grant you that Ronnie was a pretty great guy--very pure soul I'm sure. I'll also grant you that his acting and communication skills were excellent. He made the country feel all warm and fuzzy inside and made Americans feel good about themselves again. Great. 'Cause a great actor that can make us all feel all warm and fuzzy inside instead of looking at the world for the shiathole that it is (but that would make us feel sad inside) and trying to fix it is a great thing. Right?

Chewer-

Point taken. However, The fact remains, all politicians lie, cheat, and bulls.hit their way into office. The real question is what they doi when they get here. W has proven himself to me. He's handled this whole mess like a pro. Clinton lobbed a few missiles at a patch of dirt to deflect attention away from him. What he should have been doing is keeping Iraq under his heel, and monitoring the Palestine-Israel thing.

As for the severity of their respective lies, Clinton, poor white trash or not, still lied to Congress and he lied to teh independent counsel appointed to investigate his improprieties both in the bedroom (or Oval office, Rose Garden, back of Air Force One, etc.) and financially in Whitewater(federal felonies). W drove drunk and obstructed justice (at a stretch), both misdemeanors.

REMIEL: "President Reagan "lied to the nation about his covert and illegal support of the contras in Nicaragua during the 1980s. He lied about the importance of Grenada in order to justify the 1983 American invasion of that little island."

You're supposed to LIE about covert operations, thats why they are COVERT. DUH!

Kenneth Lay's political contributions since 1989:

Gee, I guess Global Crossing's millions donated to democrats don't count, eh?

Eschewing Gum, you forgot to include "white trash" in your fawning description of Clinton.

2002-02-07 02:23:47 PM
WorldCitizen-
He really did not have to go through Congress for this. He went through the CIA and under the blanket of Executive Priviledge. He may not have benn 100% up front with the American people while he was doing it, but I'm damn sure glad he did it. Keep in mind, here in America we need to know every little thing that's going on, even if it endangers sensitive operations or people certain areas and situations. I feel he did less wrong than Clinton did lying to Congress. For Clinton it was 8 years of partying. For Ronnie it was 8 years of dealing with asswipe countries like Lybia and Iran (and putting them back in their place) and beating the Commies. If he wants to lie a bit to cover his ass, let him.

2002-02-07 02:26:57 PM
What do Ken Lay's political contributions have to do with anything? What exactly did Bush do with Enron that's the problem?

Nothing at all, but since the Democrats can't disparage Bush for the volcano erupting in the Congo, Enron will have to do.

2002-02-07 02:27:37 PM
you're supposed to lie about them AFTERWARDS?

you're supposed to lie about breaking the law?

the actions of the contras were illegal under international law. Reagan, who knew about these actions, LIED about that knowledge. He not only lied, he broke the law.

I think this is a little more serious than getting a blowjob

2002-02-07 02:28:01 PM
"Driving drunk is not going to seriously impair his ability to execute the office of the Chief Executive."

I am sure two decades of looking a the world through the bottom of a bottle really helped his 'abilities'.. Let's be honest, you can look at the guy and tell he is still hitting it hard some evenings.

If we wanted a drug snortin', boozin' lush..What about Hunter Thompson for president. At least he make sense.

2002-02-07 02:28:45 PM
Back on 9/10, resident drunk and lazy was floundering in the midst of a horrific recession, with record unemployment, a blown budget surplus, a crashing stock market and a 44% approval rating.

Now here we are on 2/06 and our deserter-in-chief is floundering in the midst of a horrific recession, record unemployment, a blown budget surplus, a crashing stock market and a 90% approval rating.

To say that this Bush benefited greatly from the nation's crisis is an understatement.

A casual observer might suggest that Bush prayed for and received the 9/11 disaster.

It's no wonder that shortly after the 9/11 government sponsored-terrorist attacks he joyfully exclaimed "I hit the tri-fecta!"

And 90% of the people actually buy into all his sorry ass lies and bullsh_t.

No wonder America is the worldwide object of scorn and ridicule.

2002-02-07 02:29:08 PM
I don't think Cheney is dumb at all. I think he's a very intelligent man. I think that Rice is a very intelligent woman. Rumsfeld also no dummy. I might disagree with their ideology, but I think all of them are smart enough not to shoot us in the foot. Bush Sr. was not the biggest brain to occupy the White House, but, again, I wasn't worried about his intelligence. Dubya on the other hand...I can tell a hell of a lot by looking in someone's eyes. Dubya kinda has that same look as Puff Daddy.
