I think I might barf.

Please dont mess with ice cream. Just give me vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate.

With a cherry on top.

Haagen Dazs made a dutch chocolate ice cream with german chocolate cake crumbles in it with coconut pecan icing swirled thru it. They discontinued it. I wrote to them. They told me basically, "Waaaahhhh, crybaby consumer, eat what we give you".

I love BlueBell Ice cream...

Please dont mess with ice cream.
Amen. Just give me strawberry ice cream with chocolate syrup and cherries on top. Mmmmm...

I had the immense pleasure of consuming vast quantities of homemade, handcranked ice cream this weekend. Oh, yes, it was made with fresh cream, sea salt, sugar and strawberries. None of that monosodiumglutimate bullshiat, just wholesome goodness.

Public Service Announcement: The Amish do not like having their pictures taken.

Please dont mess with ice cream.

Double amen.
And Ben and Jerry/Unilever can stop with the pretentious ice cream names right about now, thanks.

/they be messing with the ice cream

I haven't seen Haagen Daz Carob in decades.
Life is grim.

Beh.

Bluebell has Key Lime Pie ice cream. It totally KICKS ASS..

I like cookies and cream ice cream. My old lady likes Mint Chocolate Chip.

I don't know how any other ice cream can exist, sitting there next to the cookie dough ice cream and knowing that no matter how much effort they put in to it, they will always clearly be inferior to its cookie dough-ey greatness.

It sounds funny at first, but if you like Stout, try a Stout Milkshake:

Take 2 scoops chocolate ice cream (no chunks/nuts) and put in blender with one bottle sweet stout (I've found Mackeson's to be pretty good). Blend.

Belive it or not, the chocolate and the roasted barley in the stout are delicious...

They can't keep their economy stable for 15 minutes, but they can come up with over 800 ice cream flavors.

Venezuela, she needs to prioritize.

2004-09-08 12:34:32 PM
Yes, but do they have 'grass', 'ear wax', or 'booger'?

2004-09-08 12:34:39 PM
i'd try them.
but i doubt any of them could ever come close to ben and jerry's oatmeal cookie.

/causes orgasms

I dunno, the Cuba Libre ice cream sounds like a pretty solid deal to me.

I'm amused by flavors like those. Here in Milwaukee, The Chocolate Factory has this thing called the Double Dare Flavor of the Month.

They're surprisingly not too terrible, considering some of the options. There was Salsa, Barbecue, Mango Chutney (this month's) and my personal favorite: Lobster.

They've been working for months to perfect their Macaroni and Cheese ice cream.

/hates custard

I have been cooking up some frozen stuff recently. I am going to freeze a beer sorbet tonight and see how it turns out. I found a recipe somewhere online:

1 1/2 cups sugar
2/3 cup water
16oz light color lager
Juice from two lemons.

Bring sugar and water to a boil and simmer 5 minutes to make a syrup. Add lemon juice and beer. Chill overnight. Freeze in an Ice cream Freezer.

Mine's not frozen yet but it tastes like it's going to come out OK. Very suprising, acutally...

Also found one for an easy chocolate/coffee stout ice cream:

1 qt. coffee ice cream
1 cup dark chocolate shavings
1 cup any brand stout

soften the ice cream for 15s or so in the microwave. Put it in an overhead mixer and blend in the stout, mix thoroughly, then add the chocolate shavings and blend just enough that the shavings are distributed evenly through the mixture. Re-pack it in the freezer and let it re-freeze for a few hours.

"You can spot little chunks of white tuna in the tuna ice cream, and the meat ice cream is made from something akin to mashed filet mignon."

Ew ew ew ew ew ew ew...

I'll stick with the vanilla, thanks.

That would be nasty if they had vagina flavored ice cream.

2004-09-08 12:40:08 PM
there's a place in east van with 181 flavours including some very bizzare ice creams.

beer
avacado
halvah
durian
sesame seed
corn
..are all quite yummy, surprisingly.

gorgonzola & pear is gross, though, along with a few of their other "specialties".

2004-09-08 12:40:56 PM
I've had Guinness-flavored ice cream before...

It was pretty good, but it didnt really taste like Guinness.

Maybe next time I'll try a Guinness "float".

2004-09-08 12:41:23 PM
Baskin Robins might surrender... but then again, I guess there's a reason they don't have ice cream that tastes like french fries...

2004-09-08 12:41:44 PM
this guy better keep coming up with flavors, i would imagine the novelty of spaghetti and cheese ice cream, etc. would wear off pretty quickly

2004-09-08 12:43:59 PM
Woah, that kicks azz. I want some steak ice cream. Seriously, I do.

Is no one open to trying new things? Freakin' Puritans.

My wife actually visited this place. She said there were about 20 men in line to try the Viagra ice cream. No joke.

2004-09-08 12:47:23 PM
I ask you, my dear friends...

If we are what we eat... does that make me a pussy?

ha ha ha, or they could just serve the meat ice cream with little curtains on it....

the possibilities are endless...

Anyone remember the old Whose Line is it Anyway scenes from a hat skit:

Scene: "Failed Icecream Flavors"
Ryan Stiles: "Mmm. Have you tried the pork?"

When I was a kid, a local ice cream place had a flavor called LSD.

Lemon-Strawberry Delight. It was pretty good, too.

I though it was terribly sandolous at the time, and loved to order it loud and shock my parents. "I'll have some LSD, please!"

My fiance lived in Guatemala for five months a few years ago, and he saw a few places selling things like tomato ice cream and meat flavored ice cream. He didn't try any of them, I don't think.

2004-09-08 12:52:21 PM
Saw gork & Tentacle and others posting about beer ice cream and thought I'd add, note have not tried it yet.

1 cup water

2 tablespoons cornstarch

1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk

1 1/2 cups evaporated milk

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 cup Guinness stout

In a heavy saucepan whisk together the water
and the cornstarch and simmer the mixture over
moderate heat, whisking, for 2 minutes.
Add the milks, the salt, and the sugar, heat
the mixture over moderately low heat, whisking,
for 1 to 2 minutes, or until the sugar is
dissolved, and remove the pan from the heat.
Let the mixture cool completely, stir in the
Guinness, and freeze the mixture in an ice-cream
freezer according to the manufacturer's
instructions.

Makes about 1 quart

I've had garlic ice cream at this little place in Jersey. I ate so much garlic over the course of the meal that I couldn't taste it in the dessert, though.

My mom used to make this awesome ice cream using loads of rum, baileys, and frangelika.

2004-09-08 01:49:10 PM
Waiting for a flavor called "This Tastes Like Ass!"

2004-09-08 01:50:05 PM
That place in vancouver is actually up to 208 flavours or thereabouts now. Go there on any warm, sunny weekend afternoon. I dare you. It's a mosh pit inside for ice cream.

There is a place here in Chicago (on Division, just west of Western for those familiar) that is called Miami Flavors Homemade Ice Cream and Sweet Shop. They also have crazy flavored ice cream... tomato for sure, maybe the avocado? I don't remember for sure but I know the list was wild.

/was written up in the Chicago Reader a couple months ago

Grew up in Maine. Yes, there is a 'Lobster Ice Cream' . Chunks of Lobster in vanilla ice cream. ...more of a novelty than something that actually tastes good, but it is edible.

Just yesterday I had me a "curry and rice" ice cream at a nice little shop in Wanchai (Hong Kong). Not as bad as it sounds - kind of sweet, hella spicy, a bit raisiny... They also had "cheese cracker", "black pepper", "cabbage", "chili sauce" and "pumpkin" flavours on offer. Not up to Venezuelan standards, but getting there. Just waiting for the "dim sum" flavour to come out next month. Mmmm - char siu bao ice cream!

Saliva-flavored ice cream.
Cactus-Juice Ice cream.
Xylitol Ice Cream (Xylitol is a natural sugar-alcohol which tastes like sugar, digests slower than sugar, converts into normal glucose like sugar, but gives a cooling sensation when consumed). Super-Cold Ice Cream.
