The tag should say "moron"
You figure the 30Mil stock was worthless but 8Mil?? For a worthless domain name.. I would have given it up in a heart beat.
2002-02-04 02:46:35 PM
Putting multi-million dollar values on domain names stands out as one of the Internet's stupidest moments.
2002-02-04 02:47:54 PM
I think Steve Miller said it best: go on take the money and run.
2002-02-04 02:48:11 PM
Without hindsight there is no regret...

And I regret not buying up loads of stupid domain names a few years ago.

I've got two words to say to him..... Mark Cuban--dumbass.

err..wait a sec. that's 3.
2002-02-04 02:52:34 PM

I remember Cool.Com a few years ago when the guy would just post logos that he drew by hand. They were actually pretty cool, but 38 million? Grow a brain my friend.

It was Enron stock.... and $8 million in Euros.
2002-02-04 03:15:57 PM
Yeah. He doesn't regret it but he feels like a damn fool.

hey, i'm selling who wants it? I'm starting the bid at 100million.
2002-02-04 03:33:41 PM
i would take $38 million over a "learning experience" any day.
2002-02-04 03:40:33 PM
He turned it down?
What a total goober.
2002-02-04 03:46:51 PM
Why did this fool purchase the domain name in the first place if not to make a killing on selling it off?

Obviously, he had plans in mind that were worth more to him than the offered $38 million. Let's see, he used it to ... um ... er ... um. Gee, I don't know what the fark he did with it.

It's the name, isn't it? Chicks just dig anything "cool", right?
2002-02-04 03:53:01 PM
I'll give ya a sack of nickles for it. Wooden ones.
2002-02-04 03:56:19 PM
Learning experience - riiiighht.

I'd pay $38,000,000 to learn i was the idiot I always suspected I was.....its a bargain at any price!

Lets roll!
2002-02-04 03:57:57 PM

got this one off of
Howcome Drew never posts anything cool like this?
I'm defecting!
2002-02-04 03:59:39 PM
"Learning experience"? Ben Franklin said, "Experience keeps a dear school, but fools will learn in no other" -- and old Ben never got to see the Internet bubble. Ben would be laughing his ass off at this guy.
2002-02-04 04:20:21 PM
Worst. Learning. Experience. Ever.
2002-02-04 04:22:20 PM
Isn't kindergarden through a college degree
supposed to be the "learning experience".

2002-02-04 04:32:39 PM
haha he turned down 38 mil? what a fruit.

Habeas, et al.: Agreed, is a very pathetic fark clone. I sense this type of site is part of a common 'net trend that fark did not invent, but merely do better than 99% of the competition.

Slow news day????? who cares??? You can't fix STUPID!!!!!
2002-02-04 05:49:49 PM
Yeah, a 38 million dollar learning experience.

What we need here is a "bullshiat" tag.
2002-02-04 05:50:25 PM
Hey now, I was offered $5,000 for just a month after registering it. And glad I didn't take it either. Turns out the guys wanting to buy it were making the same offer to tons of other places, getting the domains transferred to their ownership, and then skipping out on the cash side.

/me is heavily medicated for pneumonia right now, and tends to ramble...

2002-02-04 06:00:24 PM
I don't care what web project I had in mind -- if someone was dumb enough to offer me over a million bucks for a domain name, I'd sell it in a heartbeat. Then I'd think up another name for the project and carry on happily.
2002-02-04 06:15:05 PM
Anyone want to make a small wager that this guy hangs himself?
2002-02-04 06:54:07 PM
Well who were the idiots that offered him that amount? Evidently they are no longer in business and if they are I would advise to sell their stock if you own any.
2002-02-04 07:04:17 PM
you gotta have brains to be able to have regrets.
