This is exactly the reason I help no one.
2004-08-30 02:48:17 PM

The crook entered the store with a knife wearing two plastic shopping bags with eyeholes as a mask and demanded money, police said.

All together now...
"She was a two bagger. One for her and one for me in case hers breaks.

Now he's going to steal their uncle's car and kill him, so that the samaritans can hem and haw about the cons of dating Mary Jane for two damn movies.
2004-08-30 02:57:00 PM
so what I'm wondering is what were the good samaritans thinking when they saw people restraining a guy wearing two plastic bags and wielding a knife?

Good Samaritan Law? I never heard of it. You don't have to help anybody. That's what this country's all about. That's deplorable, unfathomable, improbable.

I agree Biteableniles.
Beer, like information, wants to be free. The world benefits by having a free flow of beer.

The real hero was the guy trying to free the captive beer.

Damn, this might as well be fiction.

What journalism school is teaching editors to fail to describe criminals in a news article?

There is no hint of the identity of the interventionists, nothing, nothing for the reader, nothing for a witness, just nothing.

Fire the editors. I don't blame the journos, management is responsible.
2004-08-31 05:29:12 AM

Well, "wearing two plastic shopping bags with eyeholes as a mask" is both a description and a reason for the limited description.

I also can't remember many articles on crimes that had even THAT much. You can assume the suspect was male and not overly large or fat, since they'd have mentioned it. I don't remember ANY article about a 'funny crime' that goes into any detail that was not unusual. It will mention if they were dressed or not, and will mention if they were female (and will always mention if they were female and not dressed), but even then the articles scimp on the details about the level of undressed, or the quality of the undressed appearance. This is not America's Most Wanted, and no one thinks this will actually help the police catch the guy.
