Sad, but it was only a matter of time for someone who's favorite past time was standing up on his seat and balancing while riding down the freeway.

...and not surprisingly, it was that very stunt the killed him.

2004-08-30 02:39:43 PM
Darwin smiles.

2004-08-30 02:40:08 PM
i blame firewater

2004-08-30 02:40:45 PM
Not wearing a helmet?

2004-08-30 02:40:48 PM
That's too bad he seemed like a real good guy.

2004-08-30 02:41:07 PM
Have a heart, that guy was easily the best chopper designer. He kicks Jessie James' ass.

RIP

2004-08-30 02:41:11 PM
Would you mind if we balance this glass of milk
Where your visiting friend accidentally was killed?

2004-08-30 02:41:21 PM
Which is worse, standing on a motorcycle, or standing in the bed of a truck while your drunk friend drives???

/poll?
//still sad though....

2004-08-30 02:41:27 PM
That sucks. I met Indian Larry at a bike show once ... he was a cool dude. Definitely marched to the beat of a different drummer. RIP.

2004-08-30 02:41:42 PM
A bike building pioneer. Better than the Tuttles or any other crap out there.

2004-08-30 02:41:51 PM
He died doing what he wanted. Ok, he didn't die doing it, but at the time he was doing what he wanted and then he died.

He was not wearing a helmet.
Sounds like he wouldn't have lived anyway.

2004-08-30 02:41:55 PM
Now if we can just get the wheelie ridin' crotch-rocketeers to so the same thing the highways would be much safer.

Sympathies to his family, et al.

2004-08-30 02:42:00 PM
I'll second the 'sad, but hardly surprising' vote... anyone who made it this long while doing shiat like laying down (feet first) on a bike at 60MPH was lucky.

2004-08-30 02:43:00 PM
If you ride you have to wear a helmet, at least he might have had a chance.

2004-08-30 02:43:17 PM
Amazing chopper builder.

RIP.

2004-08-30 02:44:28 PM
RIP.
An artist of metal and pioneer has left us.
Sad, but not surprising.

2004-08-30 02:45:00 PM
Um... y'all... he fell off of a bike WHICH HE WAS STANDING ON, at speed. The helmet wasn't gonna help too much.

2004-08-30 02:45:16 PM

/one, please

2004-08-30 02:45:17 PM
It is too bad that he tossed his life away on such a silly thing as this stunt. To each their own though.

So please if you are stupid enough to not wear a helmet when riding your motorcycle the rest of us ask that you be kind enough to sign your driver's license organ donor section, and then it is a win-win.

2004-08-30 02:45:18 PM
I second JoshTheTech's statement...I ride a mountain bike and would never do so without a helmet. I can't imagine getting on a motorcycle, let alone doing stunts on one, without a helmet on.

Leisure Suit Larry unavailable for comment.

The inner ear, while veryprecise, is quite delicate and is adversely effected by even the smallest variation.

2004-08-30 02:46:08 PM
Ride on brother

2004-08-30 02:46:35 PM
I think he was being filmed for this...and guys like this don't wear a helmet anyways..much less while being filmed...

Not that it makes it right

/almost always wears his helmet

2004-08-30 02:46:36 PM
I'm sad...he was badass.

2004-08-30 02:46:42 PM
"He was riding and standing up on his seat," .... He was not wearing a helmet.

hmmm... not so much with the whole smart thing.
more [dumbass] or [obvious] than [sad]

2004-08-30 02:46:43 PM
that sux :(..he made sum sweet bikes

2004-08-30 02:46:49 PM
Add another to the 'sad, but not surprised' list.

2004-08-30 02:47:09 PM
Shut up helmet nazis.

2004-08-30 02:47:10 PM
Well the value of his bikes just went up.

Sad to say but he was lucky he lasted this long doing stunts like that.

2004-08-30 02:47:50 PM
Dances with Pavement

2004-08-30 02:47:58 PM
bummer ....

he was such nice dude (at least on TV), talented too

it only takes one slip up in his line of work though ...

RIP Larry

2004-08-30 02:47:58 PM
bummer.......hope God gives him a chopper shop in Heaven

RIP

2004-08-30 02:48:27 PM

Hoooboy, it's things like this that give all the rest of the motorcyclists a bad name. The ones I know wear helmets, and these are the guys that make most of the rallies, Daytona, Sturgis, ect.

Okay, maybe the guys riding ricers deserve the bad rep, farking popping wheelies in the middle of Tremont Street in Boston. Morans.

2004-08-30 02:48:42 PM
Ive seen him do this stunt.. on the freeway when him and Jessie James were riding cross country to go to a bike thing.. Fricken nuts...

2004-08-30 02:48:47 PM
I bet if you'd asked him right before he did that stunt "Hey Indian Larry, how would you like to die?", he'd probably have said "Man, if I could bite the pavement while pulling off a rockin' stunt, that would be cool". RIP, man...he died exactly like he would have likely chosen. How many people can say that?

2004-08-30 02:48:59 PM

/sad

2004-08-30 02:49:00 PM

2004-08-30 02:49:20 PM
the first time I saw him do this on tv me thought that was what is going to do him in...........sad god bless

2004-08-30 02:49:22 PM
Now how is it that I live 5 miles from this place yet didn't hear a thing about it? Oh yeah...shiatty local newpaper.

2004-08-30 02:49:50 PM
Great minds, Guy!

2004-08-30 02:49:58 PM

2004-08-30 02:50:15 PM
Too bad. He was one of the best bike designers I've seen (especially if you like the "classic" 60's look to bikes).

I much preferred his stuff to the things on "American Chopper."

Oh, and wear a helmet. It's okay that he died doing what he loved, I guess, but c'mon...

2004-08-30 02:50:17 PM
re: Dances with Pavement

haha. most excellent.

2004-08-30 02:50:28 PM
Should have asked this guy...

2004-08-30 02:51:00 PM
" And if I'm called away and it's my turn to go,
Should the blood run cold in my veins,
Just one favor I'll be asking you,
Don't bury me here it's too cold,
Take me back,
Carry me back,
Down to Gasoline Alley where I started from"

2004-08-30 02:51:06 PM
So he was "Discovery Channel's" Indian Larry. "Best known" for his appearances... Maybe to the unwashed four wheel masses. RIP.

2004-08-30 02:51:42 PM
He was just on the biker build off on friday DSC. I think it was a repeat, but good show. They showed him smoking the rear tire by gunning the engine and having some guys lift the back end, looked cool as hell. Too bad, the guy seemed nice.

2004-08-30 02:52:40 PM
MAD skillz he had - - definitely a unique guy.
At least he died doing exatlly what he loved doing.

Dosen't make it SMART - but at least he went out with on his own terms.

. . . and yes Brewmaster - WAAAAAAAAY better fabricator and builder than Jessie James

2004-08-30 02:53:11 PM
Agreed Wizzywig.
