Heh.. Barnes and Barnes. Very strange guys. My other favorite songs by them are "Boogie Woogie Amputee (Early Version)", "I Had Sex with E.T.", "Party in my Pants", "Swallow my Love", and "There's a Penis in my Butt."

Classics.

I love this song.
Reminds me of when I was 14 listening to Dr. Demento late on Sunday nights right after I watched Monty Python.
Dr. Demento used to play it ALL the time.
To those who don't know, This song was written and performed by Bill Mumy aka Will Robinson from "Lost In Space"
I'd sent Wil Wheaton an E-mail once that he should do a cover version of this song but change the lyric/chorus to FARK heads.

If you can ever see the original Fish heads video again, look at the guy with the fish head (it is Bill Paxton).

Game over, man.

Why is there so much evil in the world? Why? Good GOD MAN!

Hey SLAYERSWINE, remember those songs on Dr. Demento, "Take A Walk on the Kosher Side" and "Matzah Man" by Gefilte Joe and the Fish?

I was addicted to that show when I was a kid. The complete shows were archived on LP for radio use. A station I used to work at had them.

I actually do remember the original fish heads video. It was quite disturbing - yet hilarious at the same time. GOD WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

This just may be the greatest web site ever created, single-handedly justifying the creation of the Internet.

Or not.

As for Bill Mumy being written and performed by Bill Mumy, I don't think so. But don't take my word for it, check out Bill's web page (which, incidentally, looks awful).

For those too tired to click on the link, he wrote the liner notes for the album.

"Wrote liner notes" does not equal "wrote and performed the music". At least, not where I live.

2002-02-03 12:48:02 PM
Speaking of stupid, the third paragraph in my last post should start with the words "As for Fish Heads being written and performed by Bill Mumy..."

Man, that's one heck of a typo.

Can't stop thinking about them fish heads. Mmmm.

"We have three kids homer, three kids."
"Yah, three NOSEY kids!"
I'm sure you know the rest...

2002-02-03 01:03:19 PM
I love this song. I think I first saw it on TV (Sesame Street? Electric Company? 3-2-1 Contact?) when I was a wee lad.

2002-02-03 01:04:30 PM
Yeah, Slayerswine, I'm with ya on the Dr. Demento flashback. Fish Heads is indeed classic, along with that other song that occasionally rises unbidden out of my subconscious memory: Bicycle Seat! ("Life would be oh-so-sweet, if I was a bicycle seat; Ride, ride, little cheek, sit on me, I'm a bicycle seat...")

2002-02-03 01:04:46 PM
That song should be banned by some international organization. Kind of like how they outlawed nazi's only this time they should be more forcefull.

SNL (The Original cast) did a skit or you could say one of those hilarious commercial spoofs.

Timothy,
That isn't what Dr. Demento said.
And that isn't what IMDB's profile of Bill Mumy says either.
See for yourself.

So, what planet you live on ?
(Nothing better than correcting an old school FARKer)

Actually, it appears he did write and perform it, with the other half of his Barnes and Barnes duo, Robert Haimer... at least according to his biography.

Interesting.

Entertainment-TV events on December 6th
In 1980, "Saturday Night Live's" Joe Piscopo offers viewers the chance to "yuk it up like the king of second bananas at the Ed McMahon School of Laughing."
In 1980, Bill Paxton presented his long-form video of the Barnes & Barnes demented tune "Fish Heads" on "Saturday Night Live."

Of all my submissions last night, this one. Wow. I'm so proud. ^_^

Yeah.

Oh, and happy belated World Wetlands Day! (It was yesterday.)

2002-02-03 01:30:17 PM
Someone find me the fish heads video.

2002-02-03 01:33:17 PM
Waita sec. It says I have 5 posted? I only remember 4.

1. The cricket article
2. Jeremy Hax returns to school
3. The one about the volcano in Africa
4. Fish heads

2002-02-03 01:37:55 PM
Trowshep:
Thanks for the submission. Delightful. Sorry to have missed the occassion yesterday. It would have been bittersweet, as I am visiting a suburb that was the controversial conquerer of a wetlands a few years back.

Why is that song still playing? Even after I've come back to the comments section? (No, it's not in my head, I swear.)

2002-02-03 01:45:58 PM
BenJeremy: Thanks for the link; it appears I was wrong and Bill Mumy was involved in the creation of the song and video.

It just sounded like an Urban Legend to me, like the one that claimed that he (or Jerry Mathers -- The Beaver) was killed in Vietnam.

2002-02-03 01:46:23 PM
Dr. Demento was great, back when Weird Al was considered cutting-edge. Used to listen to it on KMET in LA on sunday nights. There's supposedly a website with the playlist of every show (episode?).

2002-02-03 01:46:27 PM
Danger, Will Robinson! Fish!

2002-02-03 01:48:56 PM
You'll never see a fishhead, drinking cappucino, in italian restaurants, with oriental womennnnnnnn,
(yeah)

This is old hat, yo. I saw this.. last year, maybe year before that. Damn.

2002-02-03 01:58:06 PM
Timothy,
Don't want to give credit where credit is due ?
I mean my post WAS before BenJeremy's by 2 minutes.
I bet it just kills you that I was right and you were wrong.

2002-02-03 02:04:52 PM
I think the confusion came cause his site does say he wrote the liner notes. He wrote them because it's a greatest (worst use of that word) hits album of his and his partners work. Hope this helps.

2002-02-03 02:13:11 PM
Well, I had tried to post just after I saw it, but my browser farked up... when I returned to the page I noticed it hadn;t posted and resubmitted.

So, technically, I did post before you, but I have absolutely ZERO proof I did so :)

2002-02-03 02:18:42 PM
BenJeremy,
Ummmm, are you from the same planet as Timothy ?

2002-02-03 02:21:22 PM
Jeez, Slayer', looking for another vacation?

2002-02-03 02:40:03 PM
Cardinal,
I didn't know you were on the FARK board of directors ?
I like to bust balls, especially when people try to demean me without knowing what they are talking about.
Am I gonna get kicked off for correcting Timothy ?

2002-02-03 03:14:43 PM
Ok, Farkheads, here's your answer:

Those familiar with Dr. Demento surely know Barnes & Barnes, the comic parodists who rose to fame in 1978 with The Chipmunk-inspired "Fish Heads," touting the merits of this - uh, delicacy. Other albums contain similar quirky material. Who are Barnes & Barnes? Los Angeles musician Robert Haimer and Billy Mumy, the same Billy Mumy who appeared as Will Robinson in Lost in Space.

Looks like we were both right, SLAYERSWINE

2002-02-03 03:29:12 PM
Yawn.

Hamsterdance was funny. Cripplingly funny.

Its sequel, and the eleven hundred other imitations, are not.

But you can't shoot people just for being un-funny.

Unless they're taliban.

That was in case they were taliban.
