This guy I knew back in high school would store his stash under a slow leaking pipe in his bathroom for a month or so to get it moldy. It seemed to make it more potent, but I really can't remember.

I'm looking for a job. Is this the line to apply for the marijuana destroying job? You can pay me with cookies and Cheetos! I'll even work overtime.

There was 4 of them living in a single room. Two of them were male, and the other two, the other two were female. And Lord only knows what they were up to in there. And furthermore, Susan, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to find that all four of them habitually smoke marijauna cigarettes....reefers.

You can easily pick the mold off the buds. No reason to waste all that dank. Oh well, it was probably schwag.

"Does anyone know if the mold thing is actually true?"

Probably a species of Candida, which can cause respiratory problems. No real way to tell from the context of the article.

Anyone remember Paraquat?

Here's a little diddy that I remember older heads singing when I was a little Hammer;

I like pot
I like it a lot
Please dont spray it with paraquat

Your bud only gets moldy if you store it improperly. I've kept pretty decent amounts for up to six months, and never gotten any mold. But than a guy I know, who thinks good storage means a ziplock baggy, gets the stuff on his pot after a couple weeks.

That's dumbocracy for ya. Majority rule, no matter how stupid the rule or retarded the majority.

On the contrary...

One of the main reasons that marijuana is still illegal is because of the influence wielded by lobbyist that represent the tobacco, alcohol, and prescription drug corporate interests.

Just watch your t.v. during a sporting event and you will see that these entities want none of the competition that legal marijuana would bring.

Today in California the value of an ounce of Indica is more that gold...with the proper tax schedule combined with the demand we all know is present, the legal sale of marijuana could actually help some of the problems we now possess.

Probably when there's more people in the country who think it should be legal than illegal. Currently it's overwhelmingly leaning toward "illegal".

There was likely a time when most of the people in the US would have said oral sex should be illegal too. That doesn't mean it's right. It's called the tyranny of the majority (see: minority rights, women's rights, the right to religious freedom).

Bottom line: as long as I'm not hurting anyone, the cops should STAY THE fark OUT OF MY HOME!!!

But than a guy I know, who thinks good storage means a ziplock baggy, gets the stuff on his pot after a couple weeks.

What's your suggestion for better storage (seriously)? I usually use a ziplock but then again, it never seems to last more than a couple weeks anyway.

I once had a friend that threw away a bag of dank because it smelled *so bad* - I chided him mercilessly but now I'm starting to wonder if it may have been moldy.

/Never seen moldy buds myself; then again it's pretty dry (as in no humidity) where I live.

thor's hammer.thanks for the news flash.

How about adding some insight if you are so professed on the subject. Rather than the typical snid response that adds zero to the dialogue.

But you're probably a teenager so I shouldn't expect much...

But still airtight? And could one use a slice of bread instead (works great for chocolate chip cookies)?

Thor's Hammer

One of the main reasons that marijuana is still illegal is because of the influence wielded by lobbyist that represent the tobacco, alcohol, and prescription drug corporate interests.

I think a lot of people still fear the social effects of marijuana too. They are afraid not only of the laziness habitual pot use causes (which it certainly does), but also of the shift in mindset even occasional pot users experience, the mindset in which you have no taste for violence and generally have more empathy for your fellow man. There are a lot of people in the US for whom that minset is not "profitable."

if the pharmacutical companies could grow worthwhile stuff here in the USA, im sure it would be legalized, its just right now all the good stuff comes from other countries, before it was banned, marijuana was a part of 40% of patent medicines

Don't be a brick, Lincoln_L...

Most people I know don't give a damn about it.

If anything, YOU have to prove that the majority feels that way.

You made the asinine conclusion.

Apple slices work well, too. Not that I've ever had any need to keep reefer moist, haven't touched the stuff in years. I do, however, use apple slices to keep my tobacco moist. Nothing is worse than trying to roll dry tobacco.

I can tell you the small amount grown for research purposes (under the direction of the NIH) is quite the potent stuff.

the mindset in which you have no taste for violence and generally more empathy for your fellow man...

I couldn't agree more. The marijuana user has his senses heightened rather than numbed as do alcoholics. It is true that in some people marijuana use leads to sloth...but that's what moderation is for. I mean if you eat twenty twinkies you'll be pretty slothful as well.

It is scary to the government to think that rather than being drunk or sedated by some pill that the people would be smoking weed and trying to make sense of the madness of life rather than burying themselves deeper within it.

Yeah, but it's a chicken-and-the-egg thing, really. Pot doesn't make an active person lazy, but it can make an already lazy person not care about being lazy, so that they don't feel restless about their life and do something to change it. That's why pot should be used by adults only, and for recreation only (or to combat chronic pain/nausea in those who need it). Kids don't have a firm enough grasp on consequences to use pot.

Wake N Bake:

So is it too much moisture that causes the mold or not enough? I use one of those little humidifiers (which is just a stone encased in metal with holes in the metal). Still close it all up in a ziplock, but don't know if that is best or not.

fridge stops mold but will dry it out

2004-08-26 01:03:58 PM
For those asking, mold will only develop if the bud was not properly "cured" after being cut from the plant. If the stuff is moist and difficult to roll because of it, lay it out on a piece of window screen so that it doesn't actually sit on anything else. Don't let it dry to the point of being brittle, just check to see if you can roll it easily. Then put it in a ziploc freezer bag and keep it in the freezer. It'll stay healthy for upwards of 4 or 5 months.

BTW, if it's completely dry, it will never get mold no matter where you keep it.

tupperware is a great thing to use as a stash. if it will keep your food from getting mold, should work for pot too. (not that any amount of pot lasts long enough to get moldy around here)

trancemission, Apple peel or orange peel, into the zip-loc, zipped. You should replace it every 5 days or whenever the peel looks dried up. It'll keep it nice and moist and pleasant smelling. I too don't use this trick too often anymore, as I rarely buy these days, but when I do come across an eighth or something, using this trick keeps it fresh for well over a month.

I feel so much safer now knowing that the police are spending money and time destroying that evil weed...too bad there are probably real crimes going on that these asshats will never investigate

It's not the cops' or detectives' fault that it's illegal. They don't make the laws. I was arrested for smoking pot in public once, and as long as the cop arresting me treated me with respect (which he did), I treated him with the same.

"still has 3-year old kind in the freezer and is a-wondering"

If its in the freezer it'll most likely be ok, as the moisture is locked in with the ice crystals. If it was in, say your desk drawer, in an airtight container, it would rot and wilter just like any other plant. Hey, whip that stuff out and try it tonight, let us know how it goes!

Pretty much. If you put it in a Ziploc bag and burp all the air out before sealing it, that should be enough. What I do know for sure is that the THC is nearly indestructable and will last forever regardless of the condition of the plant matter.

Just noticed your post. I have to agree. In fact it's one of the main reasons I'd like to see decriminalization. As it stands now, I'm facing a far more complicated conversation with my kids when the subject comes up (and it inevitably will). I'll have to explain not only that the kids aren't mature enough to rationalize when and how usage is okay but also explain how certain laws are unjust and consequently have a whole new can of worms on my hands, ie. well then why isn't stealing small things okay? No one really gets hurt right? If simple possession becomes akin to alcohol, then my conversations with them about MJ won't be any more complicated than it's been about beer. It's against the law until you're 19, or whatever, and in the meantime we can rationally and non-hypocritically discuss under what circumstances it's okay to smoke.

Work really interferes with a coherant written thought.

That depends on the grade to I'm sure. I've seen schwag turn into practically dirt (forgot I had some, satin the bottom of my drawer for a couple of months), and it did nothing for me when I tried to smoke it.
