Damn you Barinth, that Altoids game stole an hour of my life!

See I think they could have done away with the whole Ani as a child bit.
Have the first movie now more like the current part 2
Have the second one be like the upcoming part 3
Have the third one be a total Darth Vader bad ass Jedi killing mother farker for the new part 3.

The one thing George forgot is that we could care less about this other political stuff. Just show Vader kicking ass and lots of it!

Speaking of Jane Pauley, did you see the CNN article where she admits to being mad as a hatter?

These look a *lot* like the '70s posters. (Those first Star Wars posters were plastered on every chicken-shiat suburban mall triplex for something like a year and a half.) That first Star Wars was in theaters for so long that they kept putting up new variations of the posters ... I remember one that was printed to look like it was peeling and sun-damaged; you could see what looked like plywood behind it.

Weird to remember that, when the current Big Blockbuster movies are gone in two weeks. Blink & you miss another $200-million piece 'o crap ....

I think the problem is basically that Lucas spent *so* much time telling Espiodes I and II, he'll have to run through things very quickly plot wise with Episode III and the pacing of the film will reflect it. I fully expect to step out of the theater at the end saying "wow", yet being vaugely unsatisfied.

Really you could serious make the case for there being an Episode III, Part 1 and Episode III, Part 2 a la "Kill Bill". Given how quickly Lucas makes movies however, an angry mob would shut down production and stone Lucas to death before such an event could occur. :-P

Howd you get into the ALtoids game club???

Meh. The people biatching how Ep. III will suck/sucks/sucked, are the same ones who inevitably end up watching the damn thing 50 times, buy the merchandise, download the trailers, write in multiple forums "how Lucas screwed it up again", buy the DVD, then the stupid DVD "with extras", so they can look frame by frame for frickin bloopers and flubs...and yet manage to only barely hold on to the threads of their own miserable existence while telling everyone else how to manage their own personal lives.

Here's a hint. The movie is aimed at 19 and younger. You're not a kid anymore, and haven't been since the 1970's. Either write something better or shut up.

/it's sad seeing a man wear spiderman pajamas and living in their parents basement.

2004-08-20 05:02:18 PM
I long for the days when i was a kid...... its obvious the Star Wars movies were better when we were kids and innocent and not the jaded smart asses we've grown into. There was no way any movie would live up to the hype we generated for the Star Wars prequels.

Is that a flaming Jar Jar head behind Vader in the third one?

2004-08-20 05:21:36 PM

SUCKA!

2004-08-20 05:24:27 PM
Exactly hdhale! Only 20 minutes of Vader? What a rip off.
He should have been Vader at the end of part 2.
And another thing, I think we were also let down by the clone wars. So we get to see the first and final battles? The rest was a cartoon. Lame.

2004-08-20 05:38:36 PM
Gawd, those of you whining that your childhood was ruined need to get beyond this. There is nothing wrong with Episodes I and II that couldn't also be said of IV, V and VI. They're fun movies and that's all they have to be--live action comics come to life. The biatchiness of people on the Internet is astonishing. Do you people sit down with wine and cheese and judge these things like fine art or what's the farking deal?

"WAAAAHHH... Attack of the Clones didn't change my life and whisk me away to a wondrous world of joy where everything is perfect and my wiener is 5 inches longer. WAAAAHHHH... I HATE YOUR GUTS GEORGE LUCAS. DAMN YOU TO HELL!"

Geez....

2004-08-20 05:45:15 PM
Episode I sucked horrifically. I felt trapped in the movie theater right around the second podrace lap.

Episode II, I liked, except for the horrifically bad "romance" moments. Of course, my expectations were in the sewer at that point.

I think I'll like Episode III, just because there's a 10-year-old kid in me still, who demands to see Darth Vader on the big screen again.

I think it's the overwhelming shameless advertising/hype/pizza boxes of the prequels that sends the cynicism over the edge.

Did it for me...haven't seen either...

2004-08-20 05:46:29 PM
Well I still liked the movies and I don't think Lucas raped my childhood as so many like to say. I just thought it would be MORE action and adventure, not less than the orginals. I could care less about the political stuff, we get enough of that in real life!

Star Wars is a great story! A good person turns into ultimate evil during A rise of a dictatorship. Ya, Jar Jar wasn't that great but the hate was overblown. Lucus has created many many memorable characters! There are only 3 characters from the original trilogy that are in the pre-quels as we know them(R2D2, C3P0 and The Emperor who is only in the the two films so far for a combined 5 minutes). That means Lucus had to introduce us to a whole new introduction into what we thought we already knew. Not an easy task when you have created one of the greatest trilogies of all time. If you really think about the characters, weapons, combinations of mythology, history and Sci-Fi he incorporates into these movies you will see just how amazing a story teller Lucus is. The man knows his stuff! How boring would Vader get if Anakin turned into Vader by the second movie. VERY boring. It would turn into the Jason movies, or nightmare on elm street series.

'STAR WARS'- The name alone should tell you that its PG material. So stop complaining it is for kids!

...yes I'm done.

Moo! MOOO! It is SO good! You ELITISTS! It is So Good! MOOOO! YOU need to get a life! Jar Jar Binks is SUPPOSED to be annoying. YOU don't get it!!! Moo. YOU must be like Comic Book Guy. Moo.

2004-08-20 06:03:28 PM
Jar Jar hating is stupid. I don't see what the big deal is.... bunch of losers you all are if you ask me (and you do, losers!).

2004-08-20 06:05:06 PM
Episode 2 is unwatchable, I have tried several times on "on demand" cable. Still remember when the first one came out (episode 4) all of the questions in my college physics final had Star Wars in them (yeah I'm old)

this may have been mentioned and since the site doesnt work i cant be sure.. does it actually say those are for episode 3? because theres no "III" anywhere on them, they look more like posters for the upcoming DVD trilogy thats being released in septemeber (of the first 3 movies... horribly raped by george lucas and ILM)

2004-08-20 06:21:28 PM
I like to watch Star Wars movies.

2004-08-20 06:34:14 PM
I think the problem may just be all the focus on the CGI rather than the dialogue/story, as opposed to the first three (which also kind of sucked except for Empire). There was something cool about the "human-in-a-suit" creatures interacting with the main characters as opposed to the recent "human-in-front-of-bluescreen-talking-to-air" shiottiness. You know that when the Star Wars geeks are left commenting on how cool the landscaping in the film is, Lucas has let it all go to hell... except for the part when he makes a billion dollars on it.

2004-08-20 06:35:29 PM
Maybe the first three suck too...hmm

2004-08-20 06:40:11 PM
What is 'Star Wars'?

2004-08-20 06:40:52 PM
Word on the street is that Darth Vader is completely CG.

2004-08-20 06:44:35 PM
No, Vader is NOT CG. An actual Vader costume fitted for Hayden Christiensen was made and used for filming.

They'd look nice on the next series of special edition Taco Bell drink cups...

What true fans really want is hot Wookie on human sex.

Asher

Peter Jackson is supposed to be securing rights to make another Hobbit. And other internet rumors abound.

Point is, if he makes The Hobbit it will suck because it will not match the other 3 perfectly, and we'll have to endure Peter Jackson bashing threads.

Just pointing out how silly fans are today, and how we just can't enjoy stuff anymore.

Now...have you seen Leonard Nimoy singing the Hobbit song to launch his musical career in the 70's?

2004-08-20 08:11:03 PM
mmmmmmm hot wookie action

2004-08-20 08:15:48 PM
(same images as linked - just fudged with in photoshop.. which incidentally was created for EXACTLY the purpose of messing with star wars images... look it up!)
The third one is a bit crappy, but it was the worst of the source images.

all your nerd posters belong to.. ME!

Flawless_Knockoff

I have that one and most of the other original 70's and 80's posters, and they are almost worthless now. I know someone who knows, and they know that Lucas doesn't care. He knows the fanboys will come out no matter how crappy.

/used to be a fan

That link Nosehair put up is a fake. Jake Lloyd is in the creds, not Hayden Whosiwhatsis...

My lightsaber is the one that says "Bad Muthaf*cker" on it.

2004-08-20 10:40:37 PM
why would lucas do this to us? I'm not even a fan and I have this bad feeling in my stomach like a friend has cancer or something...

2004-08-21 12:42:27 AM
Is it just me, or is there a hidden pic of Darth Maul behind Vader in the "Vader in front of big flame" one?

I also see a duck.

2004-08-21 12:52:39 AM
don't vader hate.

2004-08-21 12:54:31 AM
this third film looks lame, but I hear the fourth will be a lot better

todangst

oh yes, it'll be interesting to see what happens after Ep.III

2004-08-21 02:07:16 AM
todangst: I found an advanced copy of Ep.IV on suprnova.org... all I can say is that it's brilliant. Lucas uses a filter on the cams so as it looks grittier, and almost old, which adds a nice feel to the coming war between the rebelion and the Empire.

5 stars!

2004-08-21 09:48:18 PM
Eurytion 8-21 2:07:16am. I'm sure its not to hard to find copies of Ep 4, especially ones that look old.

Well done, rere.
