"Diagrams, while crude, describe essential components." I'm picturing a black circle with the word 'BOMB' on it and a fuse coming out of the top...

Those wacky terrorists! Will they ever learn?

BTW,

To those farks that say "Why don't you just go live there?" or the like. fark off and take a logic course. The fallacy is called "Love It or Leave It".

Look it up, it might just save you from making an ass out of yourself.

You know, the space needle IS pretty ugly...

Maybe I need to practice reading for comprehension, but I didn't notice any mention of pinball in that story. Or, was that just embellishment on the posters part?

2002-01-31 07:31:45 PM
run for it marty

2002-01-31 07:31:59 PM

Side thought: wonder if the terrorists ever whacked that Journalist... yes, that is how much I care about this story (you get use to it when the media crams down your throat, from day one until infinity, that there could be a nuclear attack at ANYTIME in the form of a dirty bomb... have to love the media: where would the terrorists get all their ideas without them?)

2002-01-31 07:33:13 PM
Skidnuts, I thought the exact same thing! Hahaha... pinball parts.

I'm still confused as to how they thought they would "blow up" LAX.

I live in LA. I fly out of that airport all the time. It's not one damn building! It's a huge complex! OK, so they blow up, say, the America West terminal. First of all, no great loss there, but secondly, there's a hell of a lot of airport left!

I guess I just don't understand the target selection.

Seems like these guys need to start a creative think tank. Get some new ideas. Bombs are so "yesterday's terroist". The plane thing was good, but how ya gonna follow an act like that.shoe bomber...come on...get creative

Just don't allow the terrorists to get their evil hands on Macgiver.....

So let me get this straight. Religious zealots are such dumbasses that they don't know a nuclear bomb from a sack of rocks?

If they were intelligent, would they really be religious zealots?

Heh. Can't find my Back to the Future video and everyone beat me to it anyhow!

2002-01-31 08:56:21 PM
Hello...this is already a back to the future reference. no need to pollute this discussion with further references. If you saw the movie, you got it. if you didn't, you didn't get it.

2002-01-31 09:14:45 PM
i don't know anyone that hasn't seen back to the future...i'm waiting for it on dvd..

2002-01-31 09:20:54 PM
I saw BTTF twice, but didn't recognize the reference. Did you guys memorize it like Rocky Horror fanatics do, or what?

It's good to see that former Enron executives have found a better use for their... uh... 'talents'.

Instead of swindling their employees out of cash, they're applying their skills to the 'War on Terrorism'.

How patriotic! Guess I'll get a big 'E' tattooed on my forehead next to my '911 US flag' tattoo.

Jjorsett: Perhaps you just weren't a child of the 80's. I was and yes, I could probably recognize any line from the movie. Never could stand the sequels though.

2002-01-31 10:35:30 PM
Like I did with Star Wars, I watch Back to the Future enough times during my youth to remember just about every single line ad nauseum. Yes it is pathetic, but you should see all the chicks I have no because of it, well...if my mom counts.

2002-01-31 10:36:18 PM
The Space Needle, eh? Good thing these terrorists have such a good handle on well loved American landmarks. I heard they were going to try to unravel the world's largest ball of twine in South Dakota (shudder).

As for blowing up LAX, apparently they've been watching too many scifi/monster movies. Godzilla steps on power lines -> Tokyo explodes. Crash plane into runway -> airport explodes.

What's the difference between a Mechanical and a Civil Engineer?

The Mechanical Engineer builds weapons, the Civil Engineer builds targets.

...:)

2002-01-31 11:47:11 PM
Yes, but do you know the Back to the Future drinking game? That, my friends, separates the true geeks from the.. um, ordinary not-quite-as-geeky geeks.

or something like that.

In "Back To The Future" there's an Oedipal insinuation, because Marty's mom is attracted to this handsome, suave man from the year nineteen hundred and eighty five or so,WHO JUST HAPPENS TO BE HER OWN SON IN THE GODDAMN FUTURE!And Marty, much like Oedipus, goes to pains to deal with the sick fascination his own mother has for him,by hooking his future dad with his future mom.Plus he (nearly) gets his father killed by Biff, much like Oedipus.

SICK SICK SICK.

I submitted the link. When I read:

"Richter concluded that al-Qaeda operatives tried to buy such weapons several times, paying cash for items that turned out to be worthless. "

The terrorist scene from Back to the Future popped in to my head. I'm glad I wasn't the only one.
