I just can't believe the IOC is talking about dropping baseball as a medal sport and synchronized diving is in no danger.

"We are going to put security guys around the field of play," said Marton Simitsek, an Athens 2004 executive, told The Associated Press on Tuesday.

Security Guys? Yeah, that would make me feel safe.

Ladies and gentlemen, an example of how amazingly useless security is. How many billions of dollars did they waste paying people to stand around in uniform and look agressive?

Arrrr! :O has tv commericals on comedy central.

Good forethought on security,$$holes.

2004-08-17 09:26:49 AM
so does this raise the terrorism warning color to red, or does the presence of a tutu lower it to mauve?
2004-08-17 09:27:25 AM
From today's sbb:

The LONDON DAILY MIRROR's undercover reporter Bob Graham faked a job as a driver to enter the Athens Olympic Stadium "with passes in the names of Michael Mouse and Robert bin Laden, and to get near world leaders at Fridays opening ceremony."

During the Opening Ceremony, Graham "got within 60 feet of dozens of heads of state, including British Prime Minister Tony Blair."

Graham: "Security is absolutely disgraceful. The Games are a terrorists dream come true."
2004-08-17 09:27:25 AM
"Tommy, have you ever spent time in a (Greek) prison?"

/shirley you can't be serious
2004-08-17 09:27:55 AM

i thought i heard the stat that there were seven security people for every athlete? nice going, guys.
2004-08-17 09:28:21 AM
Dish, synchronized diving is an awesome sport well deserving of being an Olympic event. Seeing two people performing identical dives right next to each other from the 10m platform (33 feet, or a 3 story building) is amazing! I myself am a diehard baseball fan, but I nevertheless think your comment was way off base (no pun intended).
2004-08-17 09:28:29 AM

The color would be set to lavender for "fabulous".

2004-08-17 09:30:01 AM
What exactly will the increased security be looking for? Tutu's?
2004-08-17 09:30:13 AM
I just can't believe the IOC is talking about dropping baseball as a medal sport and synchronized diving is in no danger. though baseball fits in with the pansy sports other than racing...

More balls than the Iranian boxer . . . though he had any say in that decision. (PS, judo isn't boxing, fyi)
/here's your hoop, now jump

Ladies and gentlemen, an example of how amazingly useless security is. How many billions of dollars did they waste paying people to stand around in uniform and look agressive??

Unheralded Greeks Nikolaos Siranidis and Thomas Bimis won the gold. It was the host country's first gold of the Games.

Wait, wait, it was all just a conspiracy!
