"Deputies were unaware that the seven phone calls would be followed by the mass murders, according to the report."

I have no words to respond to this.

Guess what I cut to paste here from the article Karma?

Yup:
Deputies were unaware that the seven phone calls would be followed by the mass murders, according to the report.

...

911 is a joke.

2004-08-11 05:47:02 AM
The more I think about it and read that statement, the more it pisses me off. Who wrote this shiat and how did it get past an editor? They forgot to mention the fact that people that are beaten to death have no chance of recovery and are dead.

2004-08-11 06:03:02 AM
I see Ku_No_Ichi and Karmacidal are on the ball today. All I wanted to say in response to THAT quote was: No shiat, Sherlock.

2004-08-11 06:12:39 AM
Another example of why folks should not rely on others for the protection of their families.

If you don't like guns, take a self defense course, buy a big dog and/or start swinging a bat. Have a PLAN. Our society's reliance on law enforcement to protect them in every situation is staggering and very naive.

Sometimes public servants aren't enough. (duhr)

2004-08-11 06:20:16 AM
Theres not much a self defense course can do if someone beats you to death in your sleep.

2004-08-11 06:40:21 AM
After making 7 emergency calls, I'm surprised anyone could sleep. Having multiple run ins with strange homeless dudes who barge right into the house would freak me out to the point of insomnia.

They did have a dog. It was killed too.

The death penalty isn't harsh enough for the killers. They should get a taste of their own cooking ... beat them to death with baseball bats.

2004-08-11 08:15:07 AM
The police were probably too busy responding to asshat I-Hop managers who call 911 when their customers won't pay for pancakes.

2004-08-11 08:16:34 AM
Seven, lucky seven. Hey I heard the real number is 912.

2004-08-11 08:17:20 AM
Sometimes I forget to take the mute off the microphone, too.

2004-08-11 08:18:37 AM
GraphicAddition: no offense, but it's people like you that make me glad I live in Australia. By the way, have you ever been toe-to-toe with a burglar, even armed? I have - and it is NOT (I F&*KING REPEAT IN TRIPLICATE NOT NOT NOT) what you silly little "Internet Tough Guys" think it is.

Real violence is the most frightening, confusing, fast and adjective filled (who says I don't have a sense of humour) horror you should hope to avoid.

Those of you who believe that being armed is the solution to your problems may be in for a rude shock. By the way, how is that staggeringly high percentage of family members killed by their own in the home thing going, anyway?

</end anger based on actual experience rather than too much gun-fapping>

Again.... Was it Modded?

2004-08-11 08:21:10 AM
That is so farked up. I've never heard of someone stealing a house before.

You are correct. I know some cops and the shiat they have to go to for a 911 call is amazing. He said people call to settle arguments, etc. He said one time a single white trash mother called 911 because her son would not eat dinner and started yelling at her. Her son was like 5 and she said she was afraid. I think there should be a 912 number where the police just send a letter to you several days later: "So did the customer pay for the pancakes? No? Oh sorry you are out 9 bucks. I guess we should have wasted thousands of dollars responding to you"

Nobody's "gun fapping". All their saying, and I agree, is that in a similar situation, a gun would come in real handy for keeping your otherwise dead ass alive until the police get there. You don't have to play gangster, or show your gun off, or act hard and be a moran. Just keep it hidden, and hopefully you won't ever have to break it out.

It is going very well. More of our long-time family friends have died from slipping on gravel than domestic gun accidents. I guess we should ban gravel in these parts.

2004-08-11 08:23:47 AM
im normally not a proponent of the death penalty, but these people deserve to be set on fire and beaten with boards with nails in them.

2004-08-11 08:26:01 AM
paulseta: Fine, you've been (or claim to have been) in the real shiat. That STILL isn't a reason to NOT defend yourself. Hoping that the cops will show up and save the day every time is remarkably naive, regardless of what situation you've personally been in. And who says you need a gun? I keep a few kali sticks in my room. Some of us don't relish the opportunity to be helpless victims.

/I'm no "internet tough guy", but if someone farks with me I'm still gonna take one good swing while I can. It's called "survival."

These killers deserve to be skinned with Exacto knives, slowly, and then covered in kosher salt and fed to rabid boars while audience members baste the bastards with Tabasco-filled squirt guns.

2004-08-11 08:28:52 AM
I suggest before anyone else respondes they should RTFA, they were beat in there SLEEP. They called 911 before the incident, the cops responded and kicked the squaters out, later the squaters went the callers home and beat them in there sleep. There is nothing anyone could have done. It's very unfortunate, to say the least but the cops aren't to blame really, and being armed wouldn't have stopped the victims since they were beat in there SLEEP. Sorry to keep repeating this but geesh being armed would not have helped.

2004-08-11 08:30:02 AM
Exactly what kind of forensic examination determined they were asleep at the time of death?

2004-08-11 08:30:19 AM
If I lived in a dangerous neighbourhood, I'd consider keeping a gun in the house. But it's certainly not justifiable for the many of us who live in safe countries and/or safe neighbourhoods.

"Deputies were unaware that the seven phone calls would be followed by the mass murders...."

!!!

Sounds like the Condoleeza Rice school of law enforcement.

I didn't think this story was so messed up until I read that the Belanger girl was attacked so vicously she couldn't be identified by dental records.

That must have been an ugly scene to walk in on.

I guess if I lived on two small islands in the South Pacific where everybody looked like Ralph Fiennes and Kate Winslet, I'd be pretty set too.

Yes, I am still looking for that link to the farker who had a family member killed yesterday directly due to gravel.

Maybe, this is it.

/How about a link to that statistic?

Two points.

One: How does keeping a gun in the house prevent you from being bludgeoned to death in your sleep?

Two: I thought having the death penalty was supposed to deter people from this type of crime.

They were found in beds, maybe they were just doing the nasty but unless they slept with a gun under there pillow I think they would have only ended up letting the murderers get the guns

" If I lived in a dangerous neighbourhood, I'd consider keeping a gun in the house. But it's certainly not justifiable for the many of us who live in safe countries and/or safe neighbourhoods. "

Gee, that's ironic; my American neighborhood's safe BECAUSE we own guns. Check out the stats on crime in states where gun ownership is allowed for citizens. The more legally owned guns, the lower the crime. Criminals don't like to walk in and hear a shotgun pumping.

It only takes once, and then it's too late. BTW criminals prefer "safe" neighborhoods. Much easier targets.

I'd rather live in a place where you don't need guns for a safe neighbourhood.

2004-08-11 08:41:05 AM
Why do people constantly make the mistake of assuming the police exist to protect you and save your life? The job of the police is to process the crime scene after you are victimized and to find the person who did it to you.

How can the police protect you from an invader or rapist or anyone else if they can't get there until after the fact? Can you somehow convince a criminal to just wait 10 to 40 minutes for the police to get there before doing anything to you? Of course not.

If people would stop looking at police as preventers of crime and more as the post-murder-fest clean-up crew, more people would realize the value of self defense.

2004-08-11 08:41:10 AM
The bodies were found in their beds, therefore they were asleep at the time of death? Great detective work!

Six victims and a dog. Four suspects. Do the math.

At least half of the victims had to have been awake prior to their deaths.

2004-08-11 08:41:12 AM
I keep a gun in my desk drawer at work (bad neighborhood). May get one for home too (good neighborhood).

I'd rather have a chance to get to the gun before the beating starts than to have no chance at all. Some chance is better than no chance.

From another article:

'Ringleader' Nearly Beat Man To Death In '96

Victorino attacked Michael Stern, who was 20-year-old at the time of the attack, with a walking stick in 1996.

Stern's face and all of his teeth were broken in the attack. Also, his ear was ripped off, according to the report.

"When I saw him in bed, I couldn't ever recognize my own son," the victim's mother Carol Stern said. "They needed pictures of him to know what he looked like because his head was the size of a basketball."

At the time, Stern pleaded with prosecutors to charge Victorino with attempted first-degree murder. However, Victorino went to jail on a lesser aggravated battery charge.

He served six years for the attack, Local 6 News reported.

WTF, mate?

That baby under the arm of the parent who's firing the shot doesn't look too damn safe there.

"It's okay, honey! I might drop you with the force of the recoil 'cause I'm holding you unsafely anyway, but look! Daddy shot the intruder in the head! Oh, wait. Meterman. Damnit."

I'm not one to prepare for events which I deem extremely unlikely, such as being shot (or otherwise wounded) by a burgular (in farking Mairangi Bay). I don't have an airbag in my car either.
