Nobody was wearing a touque?

I must be thinking Ottawa....or Regina....

2004-08-09 11:19:37 AM
Did Mishka type "sociable!" up there? Well, it's a darn good thing I'm not working today...

2004-08-09 11:20:06 AM
sacre merde.

When do you get into town? I'll throw together a Fark party sometime thereafter.

2004-08-09 11:20:50 AM
If Drew stops by here, I'd like him to tell the truth and admit that poutine is the best junk food he's ever tasted.

He's lucky they went easy on him too - if they'd given it to him with Montreal smoked meat on it, he'd be packing his wife and child up for a new life Montreal as we speak.

2004-08-09 11:22:08 AM
Sounds like I signed up just in time to miss the first TO party.
Story of my life.

Then again, I must have been asleep when Nug "Mustard Man" suggested one last year.

2004-08-09 11:22:08 AM
Drew would be a meat smoker?

2004-08-09 11:22:45 AM
I'm definately down for a Toronto Fark party ... theres a great pub near where I work that has a big room we could use, but it's in scarb (sheppard/vic park) so it's kind of out of the way. Guessing something on the subway would work better?

any suggestions and I'll try and get things going ...

2004-08-09 11:23:06 AM
Guys, that was a FARKING great party. I really liked everyone that was there, EVERYONE.

I don't think there was that much sexual innuendo aimed at the girls (especially Mishka) during the party, not that they weren't hot, it's just that Montreal Farkers know how to behave and how to make everyone feel comfortable.

Wow... lots of envy in this thread. I know it must suck to know that we had a blast with Drew's cool company and that the closest you'll get to that is if you're going to print out and stare at his pic while drinking your 6 pack of watered down "beer" sitting in your pick-up truck listening to Garth on the radio.

I thought Drew was a very cool and interesting guy. It's just too bad I don't have enough money for Ultra-Fark.

Curious as to how the Atlanta party will be.. I hear that the Clermont Lounge isn't a place that you want to arrive at early...

2004-08-09 11:26:10 AM
Its too bad Smokeless Joe's is so damn small. Their beer menu is astounding.

bork3: I'm thinking east end is a little too... well. east. Something central.. maybe a Firkin pub or something or one of the places on Queen W or the Richmond/King areas.

2004-08-09 11:27:38 AM
Mishka

Very good idea BarkingPumpkin, I'm actually moving to TO soon, is there a large FARK contingent there?

There's a bazillion of us!
Not a day goes by that I don't spot a new Toronto farker.

I nominate the Madison for the next party.

Hyernel

Nobody was wearing a touque?

I must be thinking Ottawa....or Regina....

Nothing but shorts and t-shirts in both of those cities, I'm afraid.

We're right in the middle of our annual six days of summer up here, a nice little rest before all the lakes freeze over and it's time to make snow blocks for the igloos again.

2004-08-09 11:29:08 AM
Present!

/T.O. Farker roll-call

2004-08-09 11:30:02 AM
What about having it on a weeknight so there would be a better chance of getting everyone in?

2004-08-09 11:31:06 AM
Also, you all JUST missed Nug, the Mustard Man performing in Evil Dead 1&2 the Musical at Just for Laughs.

/missed it too

2004-08-09 11:31:15 AM
Please tell me somebody visited Club SuperSexe in the name of FARK?

2004-08-09 11:33:47 AM
SuperSexe is overrated, compared to other places in Montreal.

2004-08-09 11:34:28 AM
Where's the Madison, sens?

Any of the Firkins sound good, as well.
There's one not 3 minutes from where I work near the airport.

Hell, I'll go anywhere.

2004-08-09 11:36:20 AM
Hey everyone.

I had a great time, and I'm really enjoying the UltraFark account that Drew hooked us up with.

Droooooo!

Oh and btw, The Doors were playing at the Bell Center and we went on Saturday night - what an awesome show! Anyone else catch it?

2004-08-09 11:36:25 AM
The Madison is on, of course, Madison, just north of Bloor in the Annex.

2004-08-09 11:37:21 AM
Killroy69, agreed Supersex is vastly overrated, but its an institution. Everyone who visits Montreal in the name of partying must visit there once.

Mishka is right. Quebecois strippers rock hard.

BTW, i recall FARK parties being held in Calgary and Toronto previously. My question is: for it to be an official FARK party, does Drew have to show up?

/still bitter I never thought of the idea of FARK going back to my BBS days.

2004-08-09 11:39:17 AM
Montreal? So where's the Cinquante?

Not that I'm opposed to Sleeman, since I'm from Guelph, the home of Sleeman, but you know... It's Quebec, you gotta blend, right?

2004-08-09 11:40:18 AM
Mishka
We'd definitely need to find a place on the subway - I don't know much about locations though

If you drink on the subway, they throw you in jail.

And the Madison would be good as long as it's before September, when it's overrun with the new batch of U of T students.

2004-08-09 11:40:45 AM
I also wanna thank Bernie for the photo-gallery. While we were having a blast shmoozing and shiat, he was diligently taking pics, making sure we had a nice souvenir.

Bern, do you intend to take those pics down from there ? If so, I'll save them.

2004-08-09 11:42:02 AM
Mishka

Probably a random kidnapping. Got a trunk and a tank full of gas?

/free beer might work too

2004-08-09 11:43:02 AM
dogfather_jr: Very good points.

Maybe the Duke of York? I know they do reserved parties.

2004-08-09 11:44:53 AM
Why aren't these comments bilingual?
Pourquoi ces commentaires ne sont-ils pas bilingues?
Damn crazy Qubecois laws.
Fichues lois folles de Qubecois.

2004-08-09 11:45:00 AM
The Spotted Dick is always a good option, right outside the doors of the Yonge/Bloor subway.

Good food, a pool table or two, and nice cold beer.
Mmm, beer...

It's also usually fairly empty around weekends as far as I know - usually more of a business crowd, Monday-Thursday only type of thing.

2004-08-09 11:50:42 AM
Sooooo-ciable!

/did this a lot in high school and college.

2004-08-09 11:54:37 AM
"Why do my parties always end up like Oktoberfest? Beer and sausages!"

2004-08-09 11:54:47 AM
Aaaaaaaaaaand she's done it again. Cheers!

2004-08-09 11:54:56 AM
Heh If anyone wanting a TO farkparty is interested you can get free tickets for a BlueJays Game. Check out this link.

/wants a Buffalo Fark Party, but can drive QEW for a TO FP.

2004-08-09 11:56:17 AM
The patio at the Maddy in the summer is pretty sweet, but it's full of U of T kids come September.
I'm definitely in once we nail down a location.

/Tdot. (hate that short form)

2004-08-09 11:56:39 AM
You couldn't pay me to watch a Jays game, let alone free tickets!

I do like the Duke, Yokes...

The patio at the Maddy in the summer is pretty sweet, but it's full of U of T kids come September.

Hey, you could always walk down the street and go to the Brunny, that is, if you like recycled beer and puke-covered benches.

2004-08-09 12:01:56 PM
...walk down the street and go to the Brunny...

*shudders*

My therapist and I have finally expunged memories of that place from my mind and here you are bringing me flashbacks.

/I'm in for pre-September at the Maddy

2004-08-09 12:04:41 PM
For a toronto party may I suggest
Bier Markt on Esplanade?

2004-08-09 12:05:43 PM
Another TO Farker here.
Another vote for the Maddy.
A strong vote against the Brunny. I went a couple weeks ago, and was pretty sure I was the oldest person there (I'm 29) - aside from three old cougars on the prowl...

2004-08-09 12:06:02 PM
peetah: That's a nice place, though a little far from a subway stop vs. the ones in the Annex. Great patio, though.

2004-08-09 12:06:39 PM
Hey Killroy69

Had a blast and it was no problem taking the photos. I'll keep them up for a few months and I do have all the high resolution files on my laptop and will burn them to CD for anyone who wants a copy. Just send me a blank CD, return envelope with postage paid and I'll burn a copy for you.

For the Farker asking about the green ribbon comments, ask Claudia934 for that. It was a joy to bug her about the ribbons all night.

Mishka - your've leaving us?!?!?!? Just when some of us finally meet you? Merde! That sucks! When you leaving? Must have a goodbye party!

For those of you who are in the shots but aren't aknowledged, drop me an email and I will update the captions after I get home from the day job.

Cheers to all Montreal Farkers!

Ding ding ding...

I think we have a winner...

2004-08-09 12:08:21 PM
or failing the Bier markt, I would totally support a Duke of York or Maddy pub nite.

not firkins, though. too bland.

Drew falling prey to the dreaded poutine. Montreal supremacy.

Do the the kids still go crazy and rush the dance floor when they play that Spirit of the West song?

Is Rockin' Irene still there?

Those are two of the few hazy, disjointed memories I have of that place from when I was 19-20.

When I first started going, I don't think there was a dance floor. You were pretty much encouraged to sit down and drink while the same mix tape (Zepplin, Miller) played over and over. Good times...

2004-08-09 12:19:37 PM
Oh, Rockin' Irene! How I miss thee!

Never again will I enter the Brunny.

Decision? Maddy?

2004-08-09 12:20:03 PM
GuyCaballero - I didn't stay long enough to find out (I was too creeped out), but my guess would be that yes, they would indeed have gone crazy for that song.
I don't know who Rockin' Irene is, unless she was the fifty year old cougar I mentiopned before.
My general impression of the place is that it's just packed with 19-20 year olds who can't handle their liquor. When my friend and I went, even the bouncers gave us a look as if to say "what are you guys doing here?

I am a huge fan of the Madison though (moreso in the summer or on a school night, when there are fewer youngsters). Less than two blocks from the St.George Subway station...

2004-08-09 12:21:51 PM
Too bad Duff's Famous Wings on Bayview and Eglinton is too small. Great food and amazing beer list.

But I'm up for anything provided I can get either Creemore Springs or Guiness on draft.

/Gone to get malted beverage

2004-08-09 12:23:01 PM
Let's say it were to be the Maddy - In general, does one contact the bar and try to organize having a room set aside for theses things, or does one just announce that that's where it'll be and just hope everyone gets in and finds each other?

Look at these two pics: you can see the two photographers opposed to one another, the moment seperated by maybe one second tops.
