Hehe...Tybee.
Ever been there? It has nicknames, like...
Redneck Riviera.
Ticky Tacky Tybee.
Any publicity is good though, right?
If you're into real estate "investing" you might want to
out Tybe though, all the doublewides are being crushed
to make room for seaside McMansions.

I always suspected that marijuana causes lesbianism, at least it did for me.

A lot of parents don't bother giving their kids The Talk [TM] at all (e.g., mine). How can we expect children to even know what rape *is*, let alone that it's wrong?

I have a feeling that these girls will have the opportunity to eat all of the carpet they desire for the next 20-30 years. Good news is, they will only be mid 40's when they get out.
I am all for the manditory sterilization for anyone convicted of a violent crime before the age of 16.

This has been all over the news here in Alanta, pretty crazy stuff.

FWIW, I think that it's wrong to try minors as adults when they aren't legally adults.

Wanna buy some beer? No, you're not an adult
Wanna vote? buy porn? smoke cigarettes? run off with your lesbian lover? No, you're not an adult.

Kill someone? Oh, NOW, you're adult enough for the chair.

There is no law against publishing the names of juveniles, but most papers don't do it out of respect. I assume since these girls were wanted and on the run, they kind of had to print the names and pictures.

At least that was the way it was when I was in j school.

2004-08-06 11:11:32 AM
crazycooter - hahahahaha nice. i was kind of thinking the same thing.

anathma: I dont pray much, but when i do, i pray there are judges that smoke as much weed as everyone else, so at least there is SOME sanity in the system.
Oh anathma...there are. I work for a law firm and this judge my mom works for on occasion wanted her to smoke pot with him, but my mom doesn't do any drugs now (but in the 80s, everyone did she says) so yep...also went to a private high school and talked about it with kids who had prominent parents; they often said they do.

god i hate being on probation. i want to smoke so bad.

2004-08-06 11:15:36 AM
Yah, I'm in ATL too... and the news here has had updates about this case every 5 minutes (seemingly) since it broke.

Also, I grew up in Fayetteville, where you were either a rich suburbanite, a really poor black person, or a hick. (Later we got some pro football players, etc.)

Now this is all back in the early 70s... for those of you in Fayetteville now, I used to ride my bike up a gravel road & through a HUGE pecan grove where the Home Depot is now.

And now, on topic, this is farking sick.

2004-08-06 11:23:55 AM
Leecifer

I used to hide my porn stash in the trunk of one of those pecan trees near Banks Road. Moved there in 1965 when they still had farms, poor people and dirt roads.

2004-08-06 11:27:52 AM
Yeah, it was Banks rd. You win a cookie (or a brownie?)

Where are ya now?

2004-08-06 11:29:59 AM
I moved out in 1983, lived all over, moved back in the 90's. Now I live south of Fayetteville.

2004-08-06 11:36:35 AM
My dad lives down near Griffin, a bit northwest. My uncle lives about midway between Fayetteville and P'tree City, My cousins live just south of Fayetteville... and I could go on this way for about 40 more relatives. :)

2004-08-06 11:37:11 AM
So imagine that you've lived a nice, long, full life. And you raise a child who grows up, gives you grandchildren and then goes to jail. So you agree to raise the grandchild. You're getting along in years, you're reaching the end of your life, after having given so much to this family you obviously love, even if you don't understand all their motives and actions...and the way you go out, the last thing you know, the last thing you feel is a member of the family you dedicated your whole life to plunging a knife into your flesh. I'd be PISSED.

2004-08-06 11:40:13 AM
It's all one big incestuous family. My folks and my sister are both about 10 minutes from where I live, which is way too farking close.

My family has learned the hard way not to come over without calling first, especially if they want to maintain their mental image of me as a nice, moral person.

2004-08-06 11:40:37 AM
This is some farked up stuff.

And the token weed reference is just pointless.

2004-08-06 11:44:23 AM
Sad just very sad. Clearly some mental illness there.
"The girls allegedly smoked marijuana just before the slayings." Heck girls couldn't you at least have been drunk. No one would have had a problem with that.
Who needs a list to remember four things under the age of 50 anyway? Especially if you where planning a murder & robbery, it may not slip your mind. "Grandparents killed, check. Keys, check. Money, check. Worthless costume jewelry everyone's grandma has, check. Should we grab the priceless silver set or the 17th century century vase collection?... nope not on the list. What about cleaning all the evidence up?... again, not on the list. (1 hour later while on the run) Honey did you remember to turn the stove off? DAMNIT, I knew I left something off the list!"

And thank you Holly Harvey, for destroying the hot young just legal lesbian fantasy all us pervs have on fark but most won't admit.

2004-08-06 11:45:16 AM
Damn, somebody else from Fayetteville knows how to use a computer? I thought I was the only one.

Also, I grew up in Fayetteville, where you were either a rich suburbanite, a really poor black person, or a hick. (Later we got some pro football players, etc.)

I'm from Griffin, where these two apparantly stopped by and spoke with friends and changed clothes before heading off down for a beach weekend that was abruptly interrupted by guns in their faces. Fayetteville is okay, I guess, but I still hold strong ties to Griffin. Don't really get down to Fayeteville that much.

Hell ElVee, we might even know each other or our families might... Lee Clemmer here, & we lived in "The Ponderosa" off Banks Rd. just past the Muskedine vinyard.

My relatives are all "Blalocks" "Jacksons" & "Harpers" down there. Don't think any of 'em are Babtist tho... I don't talk religion with any of 'em.

2004-08-06 11:47:11 AM
I went to Tybee over the 4th of July a couple years ago and enjoyed the hell out of myself. We went to that bar Fannies and got shiatcanned on frozen drinks every night. (I didn't think it was possible to get hammered on frozen drinks but Fannies proved me wrong!)

The beaches were great and yes, the real estate was reasonable. I wouldn't mind being down there if I could figure out what the hell I'd do to make a living.

Now to stay on topic, I hope that little brat pays in one way or another for what she did to her grandparents. Dang, the thought of saying a mean word to my grandparents makes me sick to my stomach, let alone pulling off what this psycho did.

I went to high school with a Blalock. Our ten-year reunion is next Saturday.

...too bad these two in the article won't even see graduation.

I'm going to have to agree with gttim. I think they should interrogate these girls so they know which hotel owner should be compensated.

2004-08-06 11:57:08 AM
Uhm, there isn't a hotel owner TO be compensated.

They met a 22 year old, I believe it was, and a teenager on the beach. These two were apparantly renting a beach house and the girls spent the night with them.

leecifer & elvee:

I used to go to the Hwy 85 drive-in movie across from the Home Depot where the Kinko's now is.

Fred

That post makes it look like you just argued against yourself and lost :)

Just messin, but really, comparing the purchase of smokes and alky to murder doesn't really make sense to me

Tara field...I swear I know where that is, but can't think of it at the moment.

2004-08-06 12:00:30 PM
Hmm... FarkingLikeIts1999 Tom or Shane Blalock?

2004-08-06 12:01:30 PM
Tara field's the airport right next to Atlanta Motor Speedway on 19/41.

2004-08-06 12:06:11 PM
Leecifer: Neither one. It was a Heather Blalock.

2004-08-06 12:06:42 PM
Whoa.. I'm having flashbacks. BuzzBoy, I used to work in the lumber yard next to that old drive-in. It was a blast to wander around back there. The speaker stands and projector house were still standing. Sorta.

I used to go parking in The Ponderosa before it was finished. That last road on the left, all the way down on the end. Lost my virginity on that road. Good times, good times.

I lived off of Gilbert Road in Blakely Woods. I'm one of the Voyles clan. The lawyer clan, not the fruit stand guy.

2004-08-06 12:32:09 PM
oh, and on second thought: being a 16 year old male, I would not hit it.

Being a 16 year old male I don't think you would know HOW to hit it.

I agree with DISH
""Call me crazy, but I think smoking marijuana probably lessened the urge to kill a little bit. If anything, the media should blame the marijuana for the fact that the list was still on the arm.""

When I get high - the very last thing on my mind is doing anything that would require effort or knifes.

It's gotten a lot of media play over here in the Atlanta area. All the news stations are going ape over it. The Macon and Central Georgia affiliates aren't really tapping it but that's probably due to location more than anything else. You should have seen the media hysteria that was going on while the girls were on the lamb. Scary stuff.

2004-08-06 01:07:24 PM
Let's just accept that combining sapphic lust and marijuana inevitably leads to murder. Everybody knows this is true.

Seriously though, I think the complaints about including the pot smoking in the article are baseless. If they had been drinking whiskey beforehand I think they would have noted that as well. It seems relevant to the general context and state of minds of the alleged murderers and there's no inference suggested that it contributed to the actual plot or execution of the murder.

crazycooter

pretty sweet mullet on that bailiff

This comment made me spit coffee onto my desk. Luckily, the keyboard was shoved way back.

Oh, and yay, Heavenly Creatures!

As for these young ladies, I certainly believe they're old enough to stand trial as adults, and I absolutely believe they deserve it in light of the brutality and premeditation of their crime.

Someone else brought up a valid point about not being old enough to drink, smoke, what have you...the thing is, though, that if you're 15 or 16 years old and dont know that it's wrong to kill someone in cold blood and without being able to use self defense as your excuse, then you belong in therapy if you aren't actually developmentally handicapped.

Has nothing to do with the legal drinking age...premeditated murder is always illegal, and everyone over the age of, I'd say, five years old knows that hurting or killing things is wrong. If they don't, well then the folks raising them need some serious parenting classes.

These lil gals are the worst kind of murderers...and there are different "levels" of murder even though the results are the same...and at least one of them is apparently a cold hearted, vicious, unrepentant little hell spawn. They both deserve nice, decades-long jail sentences so they can have time to think over what they did. This story made my skin crawl.

And the shot at marijuana use was cheap and without any kind of journalistic integrity. Big surprise in the media these days.

Maybe if they'd just smoked a couple more bowls they wouldn't have done it. Great argument for legalization!

/too stoned to be a slaya

Lace Valentine - I remember from Political Science classes that yes, that's pretty much what happens. Extreme left and Extreme Right are both totalitarian states with much more in common than seperating them - Nazi Germany and Stalin's USSR being good examples.

I for one would like to stop labeling everyone as "liberal" or "convservative".

Yeah you liberals would love that, wouldn't you.
