I don't agree with you. While real-life violence is wrong unless used in self-defense, there's nothing wrong with fantasy violence used in moderation. In fact, I'm willing to bet that fantasy violence and play fighting are how children learn to cope with anger and other "negative" emotions.

And, quite frankly, I find that a half-hour of simulated ULTRAVIOLENCE ('cos plain old violence ain't good enough) after a long day at the office helps me be more sociable after work.

I'd suggest reading "Killing Monsters: Why Children Need Fantasy, Super Heroes, and Make-Believe Violence" by Gerald Jones.

re "some opponents argue that excessive use of pornography can lead some men to view women as objects"

Nonsense, women derive their sense of self esteem from the objectification and commodification of THEMselves. Then, they blame us. They won't even leave the house until they've spent 3 hours in the bathroom painting their faces and teasing their hair "until I'm ready"

Jeesh, even 89 year old ladies still blow their pension in the 'Beauty Parlour' getting hair and nails and all that crap done until they look like the Cryptkeeper in a wig.

Why do they do it?
Vanity

How is that mens fault?

S'cuse me ma'am,
I'm having this plumbing problem...

I still haven't forgiven Playboy for that "Women of Sumo" series.

Some of them think that dolling up like that makes them more attractive to men.

The Adventures of Drew Curtis at Home Depot

DREW: S'cuse me, miss? This stud-finder I bought doesn't work!

CLERK: Maybe you're standing too close to it.

Hi...radio DJ here, getting MUCH mileage from the Home Depot story.

A listener called in this one:

"Home Depot...our flooring department will get you laid the same day.."

This is just another scam/angle to seize control of the internet. Terrorism and porn. (adjusts tinfoil hat)
If they can get all the countries on board for the terrorism thing, say bye bye to the net as you know it now.

I'm pretty sure nerds invented all this internet stuff ONLY for the porn access. They just told everybody it was about science and military projects and all that jazz.

re: "Some of them think "

Some of them seek to establish 'blame' when there isn't anyone to blame, there is no crime and there is no victim and there is no injured party.

We call that Religion.

Can one of you wonderful farkers tell me what the name of the chick is that works at the STERLING, VA home depot and which set of pics are hers?

2004-08-06 11:41:11 AM
...Of course hot beautiful blondes like working in a warehouse for 6.00 bucks an hour.

....and of course girls have pillow fights in skimpy underwear and feathers flying everywhere!

I think that's the funniest part about it. It doesn't happen. Ever...but then again, a lot of stuff displayed in form rarely does. Hmm...interesting art form. Taking the daily routines of our lives and turning then into SEXUAL interesting things. I like it...

Beerden writes:

Violence (war, guns, greed) does nothing good for anyone.

So when a woman beats an attacker off her daughter to prevent her from being raped, she should have just offered him lube and a condom, right?

So when the Nazis started rounding up people and declaring the 1000 Year Reich, the other countries of the world should have bowed to the wishes of the superior Aryan nation, correct?

I'm sorry if the world doesn't work like Ghandi told you it should. "Nonviolence is the greatest force at the disposal of mankind. It is mightier than the mightiest weapon of destruction devised by the ingenuity of man." Ghandi wasn't being marched off to a German gas chamber. Ghandi wasn't in a Japanese prisoner of war camp. Ghandi only survived as long as he did because the British lost the stomach for surpressing the native population of India (as they had frequently in the past), and the prescence of the British Army in India in World War II. In other words, he got lucky and got over...well for a while. Eventually he was assassinated by his own people.

I'm not saying that one day Earth might not be a place that allows people like Ghandi (or Jesus for that matter, taken the the strictest sense of his teachings) to be models for our behavior. Just that early 21st century Earth isn't that place. Here and now, we must arm ourselves against those who would hurt us, and be prepared to commit acts of violence for the greater good.

Only the construction industry could bring such wonderful company and product names as Ridgid, Snap-On Tools, Ditch Witch and Schwing.

Although Wang is pretty funny, too.

Damn it, hdhale, you were doing so well until you in dragged the "greater good" argument. In your place, I would have said, "Here and now, those who hold life and freedom sacred ought to be willing to retaliate with force against those who initiate force."

To all of you who protest against pornography, please remember...

Every major hotel chain profits from porno. Almost every 401k plan has mutual funds that include hotel stock.

In other words, virtually every worker in America is profiting from pornography.

Your protests are the cries of hypocrisy.

Pornography should be shown on broadcast TV. Never mind reality TV, let's get some gonzo porn.

It's a bit early for Godwin, doncha think?

Before this thread dies a horrible death, can't ANYbody find reliable linkage?

Playboy's suits appear to triumph.

I have a huge problem with people that can't pick their battles. I mean, Playboy? Even with its attempts to keep with the times, Playboy is, like, quaint compared to actual pornography. The "role it plays in sex crimes?" Yeah, you get reading some Playboy and the next thing you know you're irresistably compelled to buy a really cheesy robe, smoke a pipe and buy an overpriced stereo system. Society could end!

2004-08-06 01:22:41 PM
I wanna "nail" em....OK , seriously, when is Playboy going to do "Women of Wal-Mart" ?? I need more material for Kitten Killin'

...Shouldering a roll of synthetic turf, shopper Bruce Reinhart, 57, of Baldwin, said he couldn't care less about the photos. "There's enough other problems in the world."

Wow, I'm impressed. That's a pretty insightful comment.

Excellent.

2004-08-06 05:56:02 PM
what does home depot even have to do with these women deciding to pose in playboy ... isnt that between the women and playboy... not like home depot is saying do this porn shoot or your fired. Stupid protestors someone needs to smack them upside the head to knock some common sense into them.

2004-08-06 06:58:22 PM
i sure am upset that home depot's image of being a boring, saw-dust-smelling, house of ceiling fans and caulk has been tatterred by smut
