"I lived in Moore till I graduated at 17 my parents signed the papers and I joined the Navy. I couldn't wait to leave the state."

Um, that's because you lived in Moore.

I'm enjoying all the defenses of OK. I've lived several places and my husband and I are quite happy to have settled here in Norman.

NimoyNeuman:

Not sure what you require in the way of entertainment etc. to meet your "habitability" standards, but I think you're talking to hear the wind through your teeth (or the keys beneath your stubby fingers). I'm an Okie from birth, but have traveled extensively across our great nation, and spent a great deal of time in the northeast specifically. I'm always glad to get back to Oklahoma for a variety of reasons:

- the cost of living is reasonable
- red dirt music
- generally decent, hardworking, friendly citizens
- incredibly diverse terrain (no matter what some of these mouthbreathers say)
-a nice balance of urban areas and wide-openness
- there's a reason they tell stories about farmers' daughters

Oh, and also because it's my home and I love it here, so go ahead and shut up. It's actually kind of nice to be ignored by the coastal-elitist population, and to feel like some of us have a good thing going here. Fark'em, and fark you too if you're going to make those kind of remarks. I like living out of the way of all the crap that goes on in the rest of the country, and away from people like you.

No, I am from Ars, unless you share a username withsomeone there and have the exact same name. Earlier this year you talked about possible hiring, if of course you are the AnakinOU that I know from the Ars forums.

People that have not spent time in Oklahoma don't understand
what it is like here.

Ignore the pukes eventually they'll shut up!

Ahhh yes. THAT MrBigglesworth. There was a guy here at work who went by the nickname "Biggles"...

Anyway, yeah. WAY too many OKC peeps here and on Ars. Oooohhh...Arsmeet in Bricktown the same night? :)

I spent the first 80% of my life in red-dirt land. I will return someday: unfortunately, not in time for the FARK party.

Have a round for me.

whoever made the comment about nothing but barren plains must have just been around western oklahoma (not dissing you folks out there) shoot, what is it in western oklahoma, alabaster caverns or something? I have been to robbers cave and climbed those rocks out there and been in the caves, been down to beavers (he he i said beaver) bend state park, seen talemina drive (very beautiful) fished and boated on Eufaula. Every person has something to gripe about no matter what state they live in. And as far as 2am used to get out of the bars and stumble over to the local Mr. Quik (anybody remember those)and buy another 12 pack.

but hey at least we have drive through windows now so you don't have to put down your open container to go inside to buy more.

ANY number of other choices? Please name those other choices. I want to hear about how sophisticated and cosmopolitan Ponca City, Stillwater, Pauls Valley and Ardmore are.

Hey now, no reason to bring us poor souls in Ardmore into this.

/Any others near here?

Okartguy:

I'll give you the part about the farmer's daughters. Oklahoma really has more than its fair share of hot girls.

And maybe it's a bit unfair of me to just say that it sux, but the best I'd ever give it is OK(like the license plates used to say).

- the cost of living is reasonable
You get what you pay for. And you probably can't pay a whole lot, because there are no damn jobs in Oklahoma.

- red dirt music
Sure. Not my thing, but if it was I guess I'd be jealous. However, I can go see at least 10 top notch acts for free-to-cheap every year. I can also go see a great band of just about any variety on most nights if I care to. I would say that I'd trade that anyday, but I already did.

- generally decent, hardworking, friendly citizens
Where is this not true? Some locales offer a little less in the way of small talk and please/thank you's than you'll find in the midwest, but do you really need the checkout clerk at Target to be kissing your ass?

- incredibly diverse terrain (no matter what some of these mouthbreathers say)
Yes, the eastern portion of the state is beautiful, and the Ouchitas rock, but the rest of it is flat and the lakes will stain your undies red so that your Mom will KNOW you skipped school to drink 3.2% "non-intoxicating beverages"(which you can still get a public intox for drinking) at the lake. Don't get me started on the beer, either. I know all of you hate that shiite. And what's with the 2:00 cutoff nowadays. Christ.

-a nice balance of urban areas and wide-openness
I think everyplace but New Jersey has this.

Oh, and also because it's my home and I love it here, so go ahead and shut up.
Good for you. In a way, I envy you, because I just plain couldn't farkin' wait to get out of there, and my life would undoubtedly have been simpler if I stayed.

You wouldn't catch me saying these things to a non-Okie audience, but I feel like I have a duty to remind folks that they CAN just get up and leave and their lives will probably turn out the better for it.
I'm actually very proud of the fact that I'm FROM Oklahoma.
I defend it at least once a week, since I live in Texas now.

Love,
NimoyNeuman

I'm an ARS n00b, as I've only really posted in the game forum and on the ARSclan boards. Now that I actually have a tech job, i'll probably be posting more.

Anyhow, I'll see if I can drag TreL and Orgy (aka CasualT) to the party. Since TreL and I actually work in downtown OKC, getting there and parking shall not be a problem.

This is going to rock. :)

I'll probably have "RoadBlock" on the back of my shirt, so I'll be easy to pick out.

Just to defend Tulsa, my home town, one thing it does have going for it is the huge Oktoberfest they have every year. I've been every year for the past 10 years and gotten drunk every year. It truly is a drunk man's paradise.

Other than that, everything y'all have said is true.

LOL Crusader!!!! The oktoberfest in Tulsa was the biggest joke I have ever attended. I mean, what kind of GERMAN festival has only ONE German beer? And it was crappy beer too!

I will be there, since there is nothing else to do here in OKC.

That's the movie they were filming in El Reno? Orlando Bloom was in OKLAHOMA?

My sister is going to crap her pants.

Thats the one. KFOR or channel 9 should have it on at 10. To bad its just a few shots and nothing too major.

Wow, what an honor--Fark comes to the Land of the Red Man (and that big yellow construction worker thing at the Tulsa fairgrounds). I've said it before and will likely say it again: Oklahoma is a nice place to be from. Haven't lived here since high school, but am back for a few days.

My dad designed MAPS, so I'll pass along the Fark thumbs-up, or maybe that's illegal in this state. Doesn't matter, I cross the border back toward more diverse locales in about 12 hours. Enjoy the party.

Q: You know why Texas has sink holes?

A: Becaus Oklahoma sucks so much.

Enjoy that 3.2 beer guys...

OKC native here. Just got back from the riverwalk down in San Antonio yesterday...makes our Bricktown canal look pretty pathetic in comparison. Wouldn't want to live down there though... way too hot and humid and way too many traffic jams. Every highway in San Antonio is under construction and traffic is horrible all the time. OKC might not be the most exciting city, but it sure is easy to get around town.

What kind of wit DO you expect from a guy named NOTBUSH04?? Therefore, I find it unnecessary to do a battle of wits with an unarmed person.

HEH

Oh, and the dude who points out that OU is made mostly of TX players....ever wonder WHY these players choose to play OUT OF TEXAS???

Damn, I'm on a roll this morning.

PS: We should wear some dorky nametags or sumthin with our Fark names.

PPS: Offer still stands on free beer to anyone I used to work with at the hellhole. You know who you guys are (Tard and Tard)

If anyone still reads this thread, have a GREAT day!

2004-08-06 10:54:30 AM
And I am extremely cute, so I'm not worried.

"Some statistics for you. While there is probably not a Division I-A school made up of entirely students from its own state, most have a majority from that state:

USC - 82% from California
Texas - 90% from Texas
Texas A&M - 95% from Texas
OU - 27% from Oklahoma (53% from Texas)"

No surprise that most college players come from Texas and Cali, but instead of just naming Oklahoma as another team on your little percentage list, try looking at other teams as well.

2004-08-06 04:10:05 PM
Meh, I guess I'll show up.

2004-08-06 04:16:31 PM
I am in tulsa as well, and I am seriously considering driving to OKC for this

2004-08-06 04:29:15 PM

2004-08-06 06:03:32 PM

lunatic - i want to see pictures as proof!! don't know if you are cute, but you are entertaining

c ya guys there

2004-08-06 06:48:47 PM
I'm cute, but I'm also a geek.

2004-08-07 04:41:53 PM
At least Oklahoma didn't spawn our current President.

And no, Tapwerks DOES NOT serve 3.2 beer.

If memory serves, they even have a 10.2 beer on tap.

Egyptian or something.

See you buttholes then.

Farked_In_The_Head (like your login btw)
Althoug I am unfamiliar with her work, I understand that Kacey acts in "art" type films.

I do believe I'll be there, not a huge Bricktown guy though...
Sound like fun.
