I think Bill on SNL would be one of the funniest things ever.

/has a crush on Bill

The military trained me use the title of "Mr. President" when addressing any person whoever held the office. This was before Clinton became a former President, so maybe they've changed their expectations since then.

2004-08-04 01:27:56 AM
Anyone else remember the commercial Clinton did just before he left office? Honestly don't remember what the hell it was for- I just remember them talking about how the president was still "buisy during these last few weeks..." then spent the rest of the time showing him playing golf, cruising around in a golf cart, and stealing drinks out of the soda machine with a good "Fonzy"-style whack...

Bonus points if anyone still has a copy of it hiding on their hard drive and can hook me up. :D

CaptainFatass - "another example of the right wing's blame-America-first mentality."

Another great and coherant example of political tolerance ~ I hate to believe that people like CaptainFatass really believe blanket statements like, "another example of the right wing's blame-America-first mentality."

That's a big fat brush you're painting with CaptainFatass.

I hope your mind is more open that is reflected in that statement.

Never saw it, but it sounds outstanding. If you get "hooked up", send me a copy.

untrustworthy, I guess perhaps my post should have had a sarcasm tag, but I didn't think it was necessary. I wasn't painting with a broad brush; I was poking fun at the broad brush that the right wing paints with, e.g., their constant mantra that the left is the "blame America first" crowd. I find that ironic, since most of the people that I've heard who blame America for 9/11 tend to be right wing--Jerry Falwell, Ann Coulter, and our friend Lawrence Person.

Ah yes... Clinton. Brings back good memories of the old days, back when the economy rocked, employment was up, wages somehow managed to keep pace with inflation, we were respected abroad, religious loonies were put in their place and our president could speak in fully formed sentences with actual thoughts behind them.

Yeah, them wuz the good ol' days, alrighty. Back then, the worst thing a president lied about was getting his presidential knob polished... and hey, we actually impeached him for lying about that, but simultaneously pushed his approval ratings through the stratosphere. What, were we all high or something? Must have been because when he bombed mid East countries harboring terrorists, we accused him of wagging the dog.

Oh yeah... the good old days.

2004-08-04 01:53:25 AM
CaptainFatass - Sorry if I bit your head off. I didn't catch the sarcasm (May I suggest the Sarcasticon ~ ?) Poke fun all you want. But you have to admit the Left is just as guilty as the Right. It's the fundamendalist radicals that have closed their eyes and ears to any input from anyone they see as having a contrary opinion that I really have a problem with. It is pathetic, time wasting, ego bashing BS that none of us really needs. And both "Conservative" and "Liberal" claiming people are guilty of all of that crapola.

I am still not sure if he thinks he got away with it or if he was or is genuinely sorry for what he did, both cheating on his wife and lieing under oath and by extension to the American People. (The cheating is between him & Hillary, the lieing between him and the American people).

I'm certain he thinks he got away with it. Because he did. Remember, impeached but not convicted? You can thank the Democrat members of Congress for that one. I can tell you, what little respect I had for the Democrats went right down the tubes when they decided to put party loyalty above moral and legal principle.

And they say Dubya is the divisive one...

2004-08-04 01:59:34 AM
So what would have happened if Bill came out and responded:

Yep, That biatch gave me a blow job alright! What of it?

Instead of denying it?

2004-08-04 01:59:34 AM
pstone67, I remember those days fondly as well, but I would hardly give Clinton all of the credit. Times were good, and that was that. But I think we are paying now for a lot of overconfidence that was built in the 90's, but I think now we know we were living on borrowed time. We will have better days, but for now all we can hope for is to live and learn.

2004-08-04 02:01:48 AM
I don't know of a law prohibiting a President from getting a BJ from an intern....

2004-08-04 02:02:07 AM
well, yeah, untrustworthy, I don't really have much time for zealots of any stripe. But in this particular case, the right-wing owns 100% of the hypocrisy. Unless I missed it when the left decided to tar the entirety of the right as blame-America-firsters.

22nd amendment needs amending. It should allow a 2 term president to serve again after sitting out for 4 years. That way, when we get a winner like Clinton, we can bring him back after a loser like Bush!

2004-08-04 02:08:39 AM
Lamune-Baba, it wasn't a commercial. I can't remember who did it, but they were just goofing around, and yeah, it was cool.

Letterman won't be on here in Seattle for another half an hour, but now I know what to expect. Feels like a time warp.

2004-08-04 02:11:38 AM
CaptainFatass - "the right-wing owns 100% of the hypocrisy"

You can't lump all of the people who are Republicans or Conservatives under a label of "Hypocrisy" unless you are willing to lump all Democrats or Liberals under the same label. People from both political polarities are equally guilty of the same folly. Broad statements of any group of people is inaccurate and unproductive.

I don't want to harp on argumental tones, but this is a syndrome that is all too common among Fark threads lately.

Amen! On the one hand, it's important that we don't get entrenched power in the Whitehouse. But on the other, Clinton was a damn good President (and I love saying that because I know it makes the social conservatives (otherwise known as "paleoconservatives"), fiscal conservatives (who have forgotten that there's anything worth actually spending money on) and neoconservatives (who want to keep things as they always have been...except for that whole invasion of non-threatening countries thing) absolutely crazy), and I'd love to have him back as president.

Hooo... That was one sentence? Obviously, I need some sleep...

2004-08-04 02:17:20 AM
The Bruce Dickinson,

I have thought about that concept as well. I don't see it as a big problem if a president is only allowed 2 consecutive terms, and then possibly re-elected after the presidency is filled by another candidate. Why not? Makes sense to elect someone who already has experience and has shown that they can do a good job.

I know one thing for sure. There are definately some past presidents that I would rather re-elect into the position than some of the current candidates that are on the ballot right now.

untrustworthy, please don't truncate my quote to make your point. I said, "In this particular case, the right-wing owns 100% of the hypocrisy," and if you think I'm wrong I invite you to show me where. I'm not even saying that everyone on the right is hypocritical on this matter, only that, where there's hypocrisy in this matter, the right owns it all the way.

Let me put it this way: I can point to several specific right-wingers--Michael Savage and David Horowitz come to mind, though there are many others--who castigate the entire left wing as the "blame America first crowd" with regard to 9/11. Yet there are many on the right themselves--again, Falwell, Coulter, Robertson, etc.--who chose to blame America, or certain segments of it, for 9/11. That constitutes hypocrisy.

Now, certainly, there were some fringe left-wingers who did blame America first--or at least American foreign policy--for 9/11. But they didn't turn around and claim that the right-wing are the "blame America first crowd." Hence, no hypocrisy there, just woefully misguided asshattery.

Are there issues that the left is hypocritical about? Yeah, probably, but not this one.

Hope there are no hard feelings here, untrustworthy, and I half don't blame you for jumping down my throat. The partisanship has gotten so heated in this country (Farkistan included) that anytime anyone says "Dem" or "Rep" most people tend to go on the defensive and revert to their battle positions.

Reagan Sleeps Thru Funeral

2004-08-04 02:37:11 AM
Yeah, I guess I feel that Michael Moore's concepts that leads people to believe that Bush was responsible for 9/11 directly returns the hypocrisy of the Left. I don't think any American is responsible for the actions of those "...19 fanatical cowards with a misguided agenda." That I was talking about before.

I just think that saying one side is more fanatical or irresponsible than the other is, in itself, hypocritical.

People have opinions.

Some people are idiots.

These people are equally distributed among the Left and the Right.

darvijen,

Yeah, but you have to admit. If he ever did host it (before he died) he would have been outstanding.

And you alsmo have to admit, that if he did host it (after he died) that reality television will have definately turned a very ugly corner.

Congratulations on proving my point. At least Hyde had the manhood to admit to his mistakes, unlike Clinton.

Fun Fact: Clinton and SNL both reached their peaks in 1993.

caseyscrib.com: Wow. I never knew the drinking age was raised to 21 in 1984.

Anyway, if your only reason to despise a dead man is because he prevented your minor ass from drinking, you need to get a hobby or a girlfriend or something. Do you realize that Reagan was instrumental in ending the Cold War? If not for the fall of the USSR, we might be a C-hair away from nuclear destruction right now, and you're more worried about tipping back some beers. Get your friends to buy you some, I don't care. Just don't be an asshat and go driving. And if you're over 18, vote.
