I'm old enough to remember when Nixon was on Laugh-In and said "Sock it to me?". So I see nothing wrong with it.

2004-08-03 09:15:02 PM
wrong? it's 900 kinds of right.

someone tell bill i'll buy his book if he does it.

2004-08-03 09:19:55 PM
Damn Picklehead I watched that show. You do know it was before 75% of the farkers were born?

2004-08-03 09:30:36 PM
I'd TIVO that sh*t AND watch it live.

2004-08-03 09:36:20 PM
I've never had a better reason to visit NYC. I'd love to see this live and in person.

2004-08-03 09:37:54 PM
Ahem, EX-President Clinton.

That is all.

2004-08-03 09:38:20 PM
He should host it, then they should cancel it, cuz it's not gonna get any better than this.

2004-08-03 09:38:43 PM
It'd've been better if he'd've done it while he was still President.

2004-08-03 09:39:17 PM
Ah, Former President Clinton.

That is probably not all.

2004-08-03 09:40:56 PM
Er, all Presidents get to be called President for life.

That is absolutely all.

2004-08-03 09:50:57 PM
and bloody, as he is the last president to actually EARN teh title, he gets to keep it until someone else actually gets elected president AND takes office. (kerry by a landslide!)

2004-08-03 10:02:17 PM
I doubt Bill would do any worse than these politicos that have hosted SNL.

Julian Bond
Steve Forbes
Rudy Giuliani
Al Gore
Jesse Jackson
Ed Koch
John McCain
George McGovern
Ralph Nader
Ron Nessen
Al Sharpton

That's a Murderer's Row of comedy, I tell ya.

2004-08-03 10:08:23 PM
God I wish he was still president.

2004-08-03 10:12:01 PM
He may or may not have been the best president, but he was definitely - and remains - the coolest president ever.

That man rocks.

2004-08-03 10:17:52 PM
I bet he brings his sax.

2004-08-03 10:23:08 PM
I want to see his cigar.

2004-08-03 10:23:29 PM
Yeah, but the Urban Golf skit with George McGovern was absolutely priceless.

/Sock it to me Tricky Dick!

2004-08-03 10:38:03 PM
Imagine it with me: A skit with Bill Clinton and the Ladies Man...

/that is all

2004-08-03 10:40:36 PM
Teve Torbes!

Actually, it would be good to see Clinton take the place of Christopher Walken in "The Continental".

2004-08-03 10:40:48 PM
OH MY GOD CLINTON IS THE GREATEST OMG!!!11!!!111 HE IS THE GREATEST OVER RATED PRESIDENT IN HISTORY OMG !!!!11!1!11

2004-08-03 10:40:54 PM
I'd watch if they make a new Mr. Bill episode just for the occasion.
Ms. Monica and Mr. Hand would be great.

2004-08-03 10:41:45 PM
Darryl Hammond as Bill Clinton vs Bill Clinton as Bill Clinton.

Heh...now that would be a skit. =)

2004-08-03 10:41:58 PM
I'm waiting to see his rendition of Tommy Flanagan.

2004-08-03 10:41:59 PM
I liked McCain. I liked Trump even. Clinton ought to be fun...

"What I really was saying was 'Suck on it.' Suck. On. It."

2004-08-03 10:42:50 PM
There can be only *one*...

Steve Forbes hosted SNL? Where was I?!

and who in god's name is Ron Nessen? Was he "Deepthroat" or something?

2004-08-03 10:43:34 PM
Might as well, the frickin' show has been an extension of the DNC for years now anyways. Go ahead and preach to the choir Bill.

2004-08-03 10:44:31 PM
Nice list, bawanaal... I seem to remember someone from the Carter Administration on the show once, but I can't find it, and maybe now I'm imagining it. Someone like Jody Powell. Or maybe it was a skit with someone playing Jody Powell. It all blurs together.

I don't think they'll be bringing Molly Shannon back that night to play Monica.

Meanwhile, : Clinton's going to be on Letterman tonight (Tuesday).

2004-08-03 10:44:42 PM

I think it is fine that Mr. Clinton is going to host SNL. SNL stopped being worth watching in the late 80's.

However persons who held office may be referred to by their highest titles: Governor Smith, Senator Jones. The only exception to this is when only one person may hold the office at one time, such as the office of President. Since there is more than one governor, more than one senator that usage is appropriate. Since there is only one president or vice-president that usage is improper. The correct usage would be former president, or Governor Clinton, or even Mr. Clinton, but since Mr. Clinton is no longer the only person in that office he is no longer correctly referred to as President Clinton.

All of the major style manuals show this usage.

Attention Whore much?

To infinity and beyond!

2004-08-03 10:45:43 PM
John Goodman should make an appearance-

2004-08-03 10:46:12 PM
SNL is still on?

2004-08-03 10:46:40 PM
Isn't it former president Clinton?

2004-08-03 10:46:55 PM
Nuke, Ron Nessen was press secretary for Gerald Ford.

Peaceboy, thanks for the reminder, I forgot about tonights Late Show appearance.

2004-08-03 10:49:15 PM
So why is that COOL? What is the appeal of that snooty elitist dirty politician? Was he some kind of great leader to you guys?

I don't dig him any more than I do Bush...

2004-08-03 10:49:31 PM
Well, Al Gore was farking hilarious on SNL, and he theoretically had a potential political career left. Clinton should be a hoot.

BTW, the one thing that pisses off Republicans the most is that if Clinton could have run in 2000, he'd be president now, and probably next year, too.

2004-08-03 10:51:01 PM
Well it doesn't sit any better with this non-Republican either, Fred...

Slick Willie was an apt monica--er MONICKER...

2004-08-03 10:51:18 PM
Would Bush ever consider anything like this?

2004-08-03 10:51:35 PM
I think technically Clinton is still the President since our last election failed to actually 'elect' anybody.

Bush's Sex Scandel

2004-08-03 10:51:58 PM
http://www.clintonpresidentialcenter.org/ - looks like it is President Clinton

fingers crossed that he appears the Saturday before/after the RNC.

2004-08-03 10:52:23 PM
Sax a ma fone.... Sax a ma fone.....

I second the immediate cancelling of SNL after Clinton hosts. Might as well go out with a bang.

2004-08-03 10:53:33 PM
I'm a Republican now, but I have to say...

I'd hit it.

2004-08-03 10:54:29 PM
All of the major style manuals show this usage.

Er, sources? Links? According to a reference (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/President_of_the_United_States#Former_Presidents ) I found online, former presidents retain the title President.

2004-08-03 10:55:27 PM
I'm putting this down as a $15 bet.

If Bush wins, Kofi steps down and Clinton named UN Secretary General.

Helps two-fold : UN regains faith in the american people and Bush won't be in NYC for the next 4 years.

2004-08-03 10:56:00 PM
I hope they get Monica to hummmm a tune in the band for that night.

Really, if "Greatest President Ever" means "Best To Suck Europe's Ass" then Clinton is the new Son of Man.

2004-08-03 10:58:06 PM
You are (mostly) all garbage. He is called "President Clinton." Just like G.H.W. Bush is "President Bush."

No more 'tards on the computer.

2004-08-03 11:00:35 PM
feckingmorons: Then why for the month and a half of mourning for Reagan did they call him "President Reagan". Style Manuals are for uptight editors. And being most Editors don't give a crap for the truth (See Times, New York and Post, Washington) or even accuracy, I don't see why style should matter.

2004-08-03 11:02:35 PM
Get the whole title folks...

The Impeached Former President Clinton

2004-08-03 11:03:57 PM
Original Flavor Bush made an appearance SNL once , so I see nothing really new about this. I think it'll be a gas.

And I remember Nixon on Laugh-In , if only in reruns

2004-08-03 11:04:31 PM

UN regains faith in the american people

Which UN would that be, the UN that puts Khadaffi in charge of the Human Rights Commission and Saddam in Charge of the Disarmament Commission or the UN that is involved in the biggest kickback scandal in the history of the world(Iraq's money for oil scandal) or is it the UN that did nothing in Rwanda and is doing nothing in Sudan?

Why exactly would we care if they had faith in us or not?
