"Im rich biatch!!"
2004-08-03 11:15:52 AM
Guess he won't be needing to borrow money from Wayne Brady's hoes...
2004-08-03 11:17:28 AM
Isnt Ashy Larry going to comment?
2004-08-03 11:18:40 AM
comedy central should have spent the money on jon stewart. stewart has shown the ability not only to draw ratings, but to do it consistently, over time, and in a way that generates all kinds of free media attention for the network.

/chappelle is funny from time to time, but any one of the wayans brothers would have been a better choice (and not all the wayans are all that funny).
2004-08-03 11:19:16 AM
Damn... hes rich biatch
2004-08-03 11:21:36 AM
I thought that show was "ruining his life"?

I guess if you mean "getting richer by $50 Million" type of ruining then yes.

For $50 Million people can scream "I'm Rick James BIATCH" all farking day long at me.
2004-08-03 11:22:33 AM
I'm Dave Chappelle Biatch.

I heard it was for $35 million, not 50.
2004-08-03 11:35:56 AM
Is he still trying to impregnate Oprah?
2004-08-03 11:36:12 AM
I think it was for $35 million from the network plus a percentage of the DVD sales.
2004-08-03 11:43:39 AM
Am I the only one who thinks this guy is not really that funny? Or do people nowadays just really really like unfunny stuff?
2004-08-03 11:53:33 AM
You are not alone, PPL.

I don't get it either; he's okay, but there are 50 other "okay" circut comedians out there doing the same schtick.

"I'm tired of all the race-baiting, biatch!!"
2004-08-03 12:04:32 PM
nerfball: comedy central should have spent the money on jon stewart. stewart has shown the ability not only to draw ratings, but to do it consistently, over time, and in a way that generates all kinds of free media attention for the network.

They resigned Stewart last March until 2008. He allegedly made $1.5mil/year before the new contract, so he's probably sittin' pretty.
2004-08-03 12:38:00 PM
Like I said before, chappelle probably has more ratings therefore can get more money. I like both shows though. I've been watching the daily show since Craig Kilbourn (you know, before it was cool)
2004-08-03 01:17:25 PM
Quick, something is popular! Lets not like it so we'll be cool!
2004-08-03 01:21:29 PM
I don't like that Smookyfufu guy.

*puffs cigarette*

*admires his tribal armband tattoo*

*picks at infected tongue ring*

He finks he'th fo cool.
2004-08-03 01:49:02 PM

I never liked Chapelle even well before he made the main stage.

And no, it's not because he's black. ;)

Jon Stewart is far wittier and deeper (kind of like my humor-which is probably why I like his work).
2004-08-03 02:01:16 PM
Well deserved payday for Dave. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go home and put some more water in Buc Nasty momma's dish...
2004-08-03 02:27:49 PM
Chappelle Show has a better repeat value than the Daily Show. The Daily Show is excellent, but once you've seen an episode, you're not really interested in re-watching it.

Still seems like a lot of money for a cable show though. I'm assuming the figure isn't for Dave himself, but for the entire show. Either way I'm sure he's not poor by any stretch.

pee on you
2004-08-03 03:04:31 PM
i have the line "if it's popular, farkers won't like it, no matter what it is" in my profile.

i agree with you. people will like him.. then it'll be "oh he's too popular, we hate him, now we like some (insert totally obscure art-house comedian here) instead.

if people dont like him because hes not funny to them, fine. however i find that hard to believe...some of his stuff is just damn hilarious.

ps: i hate you because u bash my Red Sox.
2004-08-03 03:32:40 PM
I'm Rick James biatch!
2004-08-03 03:32:48 PM
the only issue i see with this: the last half of the second season was REALLY REALLY weak. Unwatchable even.
2004-08-03 03:33:33 PM
Yeah, this makes sense. Dave Chappelle is now making 10X what John Stewart makes. There is no justice.
2004-08-03 03:33:56 PM
Didn't RTFA. DId it mention the two guaranteed seasons of TCS, PLUS one season each for two other shows over which he has creative control?

Dave Chapelle kicks ass and has since long before this show. Good to see him finally getting the respect he derserves.

Now let's tax his ass. That is entirely too much money for one nubian to possess.
2004-08-03 03:33:57 PM
While the Daily show is funny and popular, it just doesn't have the same boom of viewers as Chappelle show.

How often do you hear people quoting Jon Stewart? How often do people recognize a Stewart joke? As much as I love him, he just doesn't have the same power in that 18 - 24 demographic.
2004-08-03 03:34:04 PM
Congratulations beaaaaaatch!
2004-08-03 03:34:20 PM
I've tried to watch it but it just isn't that funny. Waste of $50 million if you ask me.

I'll stick with Jon Stewart and Tough Crowd (and of course South Park).
2004-08-03 03:34:29 PM
I find him pretty funny, but slightly overrated. I think his humor is a bit repetitive. How many more "white girls all want black guys" and "black guys got big dicks" jokes do we need?
2004-08-03 03:34:30 PM
Good for him. Isn't his show one of the highest rated on Comedy Central? That $50 million is nothing compared to the advertising revenues CC will be taking in so he's entitled to his share.

Please inform me when I can laugh in the future.

Cue the 'poor people spending their money' Chappelle clip.

Dave Chapepelle is the scheiss!

/"If I could just slide a finger down the crack of that ass..."

He's very hit or miss. But when he hits, its farking hillarious.

The Blind Black Klansman: funniest sketch ever.

My submission: "He's rich, biatch!" (not the filtered version)

I see all y'all commenting and shiat, saying my man Dave ain't that funny... to you, I have only one thing to say.

2004-08-03 03:41:19 PM
Cocaine is a hell of a drug.

/already said everything else - got nuthin
2004-08-03 03:41:19 PM
Yellow.. that and the nubianr Family
2004-08-03 03:41:23 PM
I for one welcome our new dark skinned, funny-as-sin overlord.

"When we's gonna get us some of that freedom"

"How about now-ish"

"If it were up to me, I'd shoot a slave master on every show"
2004-08-03 03:41:27 PM
Not that anyone cares- but I think he is very funny.

What is not funny is when you are leaving a concert and have some schmuck yell "I'm Rick James biatch" and then have 400 other fools start doing their own impressions of Dave doing impressions. It got out of hand quick. Just shows you who his real fan base is: Young WHITE males.
2004-08-03 03:42:06 PM
watch it sometimes, but I also find him hit or miss. Prefer Daily Show, Curb your Enthusiasm, shiat, even reruns of Absolutely Fabulous over the stuff that misses...

Still , kudos for him. He's getting Payyyyed.
2004-08-03 03:42:14 PM
He makes the moneys on the DVDs. That's probably the one reason Stewart doesn't make more.
2004-08-03 03:42:40 PM
My submission was: "I make $50 million, biatch!"
2004-08-03 03:43:09 PM
I didn't submit this with a funnier headline because I didn't know about it until now. So there.
