And it would appear most of them post on Fark, as well.

/hey, who wants and orderly personality, anyway?

2004-08-03 09:19:32 AM
do "character flaws" qualify as a disorder?

2004-08-03 09:19:34 AM
God knows they aren't in a hurry to serve you.

2004-08-03 09:21:48 AM
yes!
15%!

now everyone, quick! take these drugs!

2004-08-03 09:25:21 AM
Good headline!

2004-08-03 09:25:50 AM
15% seems kinda low. How are we keeping all those therapists in business?

2004-08-03 09:31:53 AM
Does that make the rest of 'em garden variety assholes?

2004-08-03 09:38:33 AM
Dan, I think it just makes them boring.

/part of the interesting subset

2004-08-03 09:44:48 AM
haha - good headline. My ex works for the DMV...

2004-08-03 09:45:22 AM
I've been to hell.
I spell it...I spell it DMV
Anyone that's been there knows precisely what I mean
I've stood in line and waited near an hour and fifteen
And if I had my druthers I'd screw that chimpanzee

Its the crazy ones you have the best sex with.

Mmmm personality disorder goodness.

2004-08-03 10:27:06 AM
Wow, I feel so included now. It's nice to belong to so many diverse groups.

2004-08-03 10:34:48 AM
This is why I've opted to have no personality whatsoever. No personality = no personality disorders. It's like abstinence from the mind-fark.

And now, as I do often times;
relapse and write some awful rhymes.

2004-08-03 11:30:34 AM
Hm, if having a personality is the "default" state, wouldn't the lack thereof BE a personality disorder? Like lacking an arm is a handicap?

2004-08-03 12:12:36 PM
Use to be that being an intelligent, well-adjusted individual was a good thing.

In the age of functionally illiterate highschool graduates, it seems the opposite is true.

Not withstanding the need for pop psychologists to create jobs for themselves by pigeon-holing everyone in existence, having a disorders is a fashionable. Pretty soon people will proudly sport around tags like 'Lefthandedness Disorder', 'Normalcy Disorder' (must be hiding something), 'Can't Colour Coordinate Disorder', and more.

2004-08-03 12:40:19 PM
I know I have dated a good percentage of them too. I'm not really complaining, cause likeatreebranch is correct.

/would hit it agin, knowing the consequences

Its the crazy ones you have the best sex with.
100% damn true..
perfect. well said. on point.

2004-08-03 01:33:35 PM
If I have multiple user accounts on Fark, does that mean that I have a personality disorder?

2004-08-03 01:35:41 PM

" More than 9 percent have a mood disorder such as major depression or manic disorder, while more than 11 percent have an anxiety disorder."

Yeah, but how many of us have both?
/proud minority

2004-08-03 01:37:52 PM
it is Bush's fault?

2004-08-03 01:37:53 PM
A lot of "personality disorders" are normal human behaviors that are no longer acceptable by society. Too many people are being medicated for natural evolved behavior.

2004-08-03 01:38:16 PM
SherKhan, I prefer to state that my lack of any personality whatsoever is in itself a disorder. That's besides the paranoid schizophrenia, mind you.

2004-08-03 01:39:35 PM
Barjockey counts as three.

2004-08-03 01:39:55 PM
I'm waiting for the farkers with OCD or Bi-polarism to whine about the headline.

2004-08-03 01:40:47 PM
I don't know, 15 sounds way low. Maybe it's higher if all your friends are "artists."

2004-08-03 01:40:52 PM
I do not have a split personality.

Oh, yes I do.

2004-08-03 01:42:43 PM
About nine percent of Americans abuse alcohol

I don't abuse mine. I hug it and talk to it and take it to the movies.

I'm waiting for the farkers with OCD or Bi-polarism to whine about the headline.

When I first read the headline, I was really sad. But then I laughed hysterically at it. Then I was sad again.

Quick1
If I have multiple user accounts on Fark, does that mean that I have a personality disorder?

That depends, is one of your Fark personalities a democrat and the other a republican? Do you argue with yourself in political threads? If the answer to either is "yes", then you are definately screwed up.

2004-08-03 01:44:25 PM
Roses are red,
violets are blue,
I have a split personality,
and so do I

All_Farked_Up

I don't think it's so much that these behaviors are suddenly unaccepted, as much as modern technology increasingly enabling these traits- esp. with severe introversion or social anxiety. When it's so much easier to just stay at home and occupy one's time with entertainment or be anonymously 'social' on the inarweb, these tendencies that would otherwise be subdued in many people go unchecked.

2004-08-03 01:44:30 PM
I'm stoned right now....what? what? what did I do? why are you looking at me like that?

2004-08-03 01:44:36 PM
As All_Farked_Up noted, "personality disorders" are simply a way to pathologize socially unacceptable behavior.

2004-08-03 01:46:53 PM
Some days we do not let the lines move at all. We call those days, WEEKDAYS!

2004-08-03 01:48:51 PM
"Personality disorders", psht.

In my day we just called them "farked up" and got on with our lives.

I don't abuse mine. I hug it and talk to it and take it to the movies.

ROTFL man, you just about made ramen noodles come out my nose! That's the funniest thing I've seen in days!

Not me, I'm perfectly normal!

2004-08-03 01:53:19 PM
Prolly been said before but 15% sounds awful low to me.

I would guess it would be more like 47% - as in the % of people likely to vote for Kerry.
