This should be [SAD], actually. A weakened Russia is a bad Russia. It is in our (the US's) best interest to see Russia succeed as a capitalist democracy. If they fail, they could plummit back into Communism or worse, facist dictatorship. That would be a very BAD thing. Not unlike crossing the streams.

Do you guys remember a few days ago when Harmonia was sighting the Russian Space Program as one of the successes of Socialism? Hah Hah,

Sorry, I had to through that in there.

At least they don't have to make payments on that POS space station Mir any longer . . .

Capigula, excellent point.

All a big indicator that it's high time for private-sector involvement in space exploration. $20 million to visit the space station? You could build an extra bunking cell on the side of the International Space Station just for those rich yabos, and help finance the otherwise bloated thing!

I agree with Daz

Every Russian I've met/worked with has been very intelligent and I feel sorry for them, coming from such a mismanaged, sinking carcass of a country.

"Shutting off the facility impacted its operation and could have led to the loss of spacecraft costing hundreds of millions of rubles." </i?

Is that enough to buy a Big Mac?It's sad how the country got so farked after finally giving up communism.
Oh well. Soon, the news coming out of Russia will all be good though, because all the channels are run by the government now!

They will continue to find a way to blow shiat up over there. Nothing cooler than launchpad explosions!

I agree it's sad that Russia is in such a state. However, now that they are moving to a capitalistic economy things will get better. Russia has always had intelligent people, talented people, and innovative people like every country. The two things they did not have were the two things socialism can't provide, motivation and opportunity. Now that they have them the cream will rise to the top. It will take time but provided they donít give up on capitalism prematurely it will happen.

well you certainly can't expect a country to do a 360 overnight and not hit any speedbumps

Did anyone check that last line about the utility shutting off power to a base near Moscow, so the troops invaded the utility and turned it back on?? LOL, only in Russia!

There was a time when you could buy a Soviet T-72 Tank for 400 bucks US CASH. (100 per crewmember) And for that they would even teach you how to drive it and work the weapons. After you shoot up your ammo supply, your on your own to get reloaded.

I want a spaceship! Hey Cosmonauts - How Much?

Capigula

Actually, Russia has been moving steadily towards a fascism ever since that Putin guy took control. He's already shut down all non-state owned media outlets, and he's moving back towards a police state kind of affair. Very disturbing if you ask me...
