proving once again that if you're a woman it doesn't matter what you've accomplished in business or athletics all that matters is if you have nice boobies and are you willing to show them.

the WNBA? is that still around? wow..
i so thoroughly enjoy the lashings the ESPN/Fox/Sporting News hosts give the WNBA.

i think there may be 5 decent looking women in the WNBA.

very few rather tall cuties.. i'd like to meander up her back like a cat and whisper the lyrics to "Erotic City" in her oversized ear canals. Then perhaps take it to the hole?

theres a joke about group sex, WNBA players and a triple double somewhere.. i cant piece it together.

It's been a while since we have a hottie in fark personal... <<<<howyadoin <<<<

I still won't watch.

2004-07-27 12:35:12 PM
Those women could play topless and I'd be bored before the first half was finished.

2004-07-27 01:32:57 PM
Hey, brooks, since you apparently have the picture... How about you link to THAT instead of that ESPN article?

I couldn't care less about what her boss or the league thinks...

Trunks - proving once again that if you're a woman it doesn't matter what you've accomplished in business or athletics all that matters is if you have nice boobies and are you willing to show them.

Yes, and your point is...? That perhaps you're jealous?

why? why do they do this? augghhh!

/and Dr. K, I'm very tall and my ear canals are not oversized :-)

May I speak for the rest of us by saying:

I demand pictures!

/don't want to wait 'til Playboy comes out, I want them now.

2004-07-27 01:49:49 PM
If they played naked, that might actually boost ticket sales.

2004-07-27 01:50:06 PM
hooray for boobies!

If Sue Bird took a flyer and posed nude in Playboy, I'd buy season tickets in the cheap seats for a season.

I just gotta ask, why?

And,

are you a neat dresser, have a tidy apartment, and like show tunes?

2004-07-27 01:53:58 PM
Ok, for the surreal pic of the day, I give you Drew, Brooks, and famous big breasted Dodger wife Melissa Lima hanging out together.

2004-07-27 01:55:49 PM
Not gonna help

2004-07-27 01:56:56 PM
Wow, that's a great use of the 'Cool' Tag.

Women posing as fapping material for men they'll never meet - with the worthwhile goal of trying to help out a big business enterprise? Very empowering! What's next... hooking for Microsoft?

Why doesn't she just offer blowjobs to anyone buying season tickets to WNBA games?

/Ah dignity shmignity...

2004-07-27 01:57:16 PM
And of course it's some broad from marketing...go figure.

Wonder how much she's been on her knees to get that job.

With what, a boob job?

[Scene: Outside Basketball Pitch. The group watch an Amazon bounce a basketball.]

Thog: Here stadium, where our women basketball teams play.

Kug: We no can dunk, but good fundamentals.

Ornik: That more fun to watch.

[Zapp, Fry, Bender, and ju66l3r laugh.]

So it's a marketer? Why, are liars hot? ;-)

It's sad that the majority of men who watch sports won't pay any real attention to female athletes unless they're showing off their naked bits. It's even sadder that organizations like the WNBA are going along with this sort of mindset. Who can take them seriously if they're going to resort to flashing their breasts for attention? This isn't Mardi Gras. Do the responsible thing, please.

Of course, I don't take any sports seriously, but I still find the atmosphere around female athletes pathetically sexist and just flat-out disappointing.

This thread needs more Sue Bird Pics.

It's also sad that boa constrictors eat cute little bunnies, but that's just the way it is.

I hear the frogs are persuing legislation to permit them to fly and thus prevent bumping thier arses on the ground.

Wow. I picked up the nickname "Bird" or "Birdy" this weekend at the hands of a sports-obsessed friend. Now I see that it is kind of a nice compliment.

2004-07-27 02:04:39 PM
it will surely boost Playboy sales ... won't do jack shiat for the WNBA though.

"Do the responsible thing, please."

Yeah like close up the wnba. Its a waste of money.

"but I still find the atmosphere around female athletes pathetically sexist and just flat-out disappointing."

Because female athletes in a NFL, NBA, or MLB setting are a joke. No one wants to watch it except other females and the number in that group that really enjoy sports in general is really small. The talent pool for any kind of large scale female sports is so small that it just makes the whole thing a waste of time.

2004-07-27 02:05:28 PM
Goldeneyed,

Well said.

2004-07-27 02:07:16 PM
Man, try refolding that centerfold.

2004-07-27 02:07:22 PM
If we were to encourage our young girls to play sports, we might see some really great atheletes. Sadly, playing sports makes you a "tomboy" or a "dyke".

2004-07-27 02:08:23 PM
i've seen the picture. the girl is pretty hot but she only is nekked from th waist up

2004-07-27 02:08:40 PM
I'd hit Sue Bird like it slapped my mama.

Every team (ok, by every, I mean the one or two I've seen on tv) has at least one bona fide hottie. I forget the one here in Phoenix, but it used to be Lisa Harrison - she was mulling posing in Playboy too. Now it's some white chick.

Jennifer Azzi was yummy too.

Oh lighten the fark up. Guys dont watch sports for the uniforms or the complexities of the game, they watch sports to see the best athletes of a given sport compete. And, sadly, women are simply not as good at many sports (not all, by far) as men are. HENCE, women's sports arent as fun to watch.

/wonder what bill simmons thinks of all this?

2004-07-27 02:09:16 PM
There's nothing wrong with posing for Playboy, it's actually kind of an honour.

Sure, it won't do anything for the WNBA, but there's still nothing wrong with her doing it.

I don't think the WNBA should have to close down, just minimise, or perhaps have some collaboration with the NBA?

2004-07-27 02:10:09 PM
Wanna know how to increase ticket sales in the WNBA?

Drop the "W", duh!

2004-07-27 02:10:16 PM

I suddenly have the urge to whupp your butt at basketball.

No point in encouraging them to play sports because there is no market for it and there never will be.

Sports meaning, football, basketball, or baseball. Yeah there are other sports but this is what we are talking about here so don't go saying, "what about soccer or tennis or curling..."

2004-07-27 02:12:24 PM
What the hell is a Director of Tactical Marketing?

2004-07-27 02:12:25 PM
To me WBNA is in between the NBA and either special olympics basketball/wheel chair basketball. It fills a niche but unlike the special olympics et al. the marketers of the WBNA don't realize it's just a niche. So unless I get some kind of incentive like Sue Bird's ta-tas, why would I want to watch an inferior product?

2004-07-27 02:12:25 PM
As long as it's treated as wrong, there won't be a market.

/why do I bother

"As long as it's treated as wrong, there won't be a market. "

I don't know anyone who says "girls in sports is wrong". I know plenty of people who say "girls in sports is boring, I won't watch it."

There is a big difference.

2004-07-27 02:15:09 PM
I have a feeling this chick isn't just taking one for the team.
She probably called playboy trying to get a spread using this angle.

Don't buy the hype, and it's all hype.

2004-07-27 02:15:22 PM
and I say again,

why do I bother?

2004-07-27 02:16:27 PM
But why is the idea of women playing sports automatically considered "boring"? It's the same game, with the same rules. The only difference is that the players aren't men.
