Ah... Always refreshing to know that there is going to be more air for me with people like this trying to eliminate themselves...

gotta match?

So first a "fan" spits on Lance Armstrong, then a "fan" steals a band's gasoline. We going for a trifecta of shiatty fans to start off the day?

2004-07-22 01:02:41 AM
While Squad Five-O's fans are burning with excitement, Fortson admits sales of the band's new album, "Late News Breaking," are not so hot, which is why the band will be touring until the end of August.

Probably also why he's providing a sensational anecdote, not a story with any witnesses, in the hopes of getting some national attention.

/not an anti-punk troll, just a thought.

2004-07-22 01:12:11 AM
That seems more metal than punk, to me.

He reminds me of the Vietnamese monk who set himself on fire...only this guy didn't do it to protest anything.

2004-07-22 01:22:02 AM
mojofinger, what band you in?

This band sounds familiar to me, too. I see they're playing with Further Seems Forever later this summer, and I've definately seen them at the Metro. Shrug. Who knows. too bad they won't be at Tweeter on Saturday to see if they're any good.

2004-07-22 01:22:31 AM
Maybe they could still sue Jackass...

2004-07-22 01:26:46 AM
Not a big fan of Squad Five-O. Went to a scary fundamentalist christian school and alot of kids there were big fans.

2004-07-22 01:33:51 AM

2004-07-22 01:36:21 AM
This is exactly why punk music should be outlawed.

You know, there was this one time I was walking down the street and this kid shot a slingshot at a cat. The rock bounced off a car's windshield, setting off the alarm (pissing me off).

Luckily the rock then went straight up, hitting a helicopter right in the rotor. That exploded in a shower of metal shards that impaled the kid. Then the helo fell directly on the car, silencing the alarm. That was the coolest thing ever.

Oh wait, you don't believe me? Hey, it's not like I'm trying to publicize a record here...

2004-07-22 01:38:42 AM
or... He shoulda been on the cover of Maximum Rock 'N Roll

2004-07-22 01:40:32 AM
Yeah, I thought SquadFive-O was a christian band for the longest time because kids in my 7th grade class were big into them. Heritage Academy was a scary, scary place.

2004-07-22 01:41:48 AM
On the topic of punk, anyone else made the warped tour yet this summer?

The submitter threw the "punk band fan" in the headline just to show how much of a dumbass he was.

Eh, it's better than Ky in some respects but I grew sick of the day-glo orange sky at 11:30pm. I went back home to be able to look up and see the stars.

Bathysphere,
I totally agree with that.
I just got back from a trip to an obscure part of VA. I was amazed that there were stars in the sky.
SO PRETTY!

New Age Retro Hippie
Came this close to picking it up. I'm asuming i made a mistake by not getting it?

Nocternal

Yes. "Let Them Eat War," "God's Love," and "Los Angeles is Burning" are all awesome tracks. It's getting good reviews, too. Main reason I finally bought it, though, is because I was forced to listen to eight hours of country at work--Bass Pro Shops Gurnee. (I'm the only Chris in the front end, if anyone wants to say hi.) I walked straight to Circuit City and bought it as soon as I punched out.

/wanted to go to an independent music store, but this is Gurnee. We don't know the meaning of the words "small businees"

squad five-o is a terrible, christian band... they are on a major label, but have shiat for draw... the only people that go to their shows are the people that have been with them ever since their SKA days...

my band played with them once and it was a sad sight... i really do feel bad for them, because they seem like nice guys and they're out there touring, which is super hard to do... but, seriously... if they played better music, they wouldn't have problems selling cd's...

bad religion is good, but they really need to stop ripping themselves off... it's cool when a band develops their own sound and you can hear a song for the first time and just by the music, you can tell it's them... but, when they keep doing the same beats, the same melodies, the same 4-part harmonies and whatnot, it gets old really fast... the new album is nothing new...

/cynical

New Age Retro Hippie,
DAMN YOU! I can't afford any more cds this week. But i'll buy it somehow.

And i'm sorry about the country music. Luckily i can listen to anything i want at work. (yay!)

aaaah... that's where I heard of Squad Five-O before. One of my friends is a Christian Ska fan/ex-member of band (The Amazing Impeccables).

2004-07-22 02:20:14 AM
ha ha ha ha, squad 5-0. they're cock-rock not punk. when they were first starting out they were in my home town a lot. i'm pretty sure the founding members are from michigan. they played a lot of "salem rock" shows, it was a christain punk place but you didn't have to be christian to play there. i remember their ska days, i may even have one of their patches around here somewhere. i've only seen 1 good christian punk band, that's only because i was friends with them and had to be nice.
