That's a level of will-power I never hope to achieve.

2004-07-21 05:29:14 PM
I was expecting a different story.

Some people need to be shot immediately.

2004-07-21 10:17:11 PM
These people belong in an insane asilum for thinking that they could get away with taping themselves chokin chickens

ive learned in my experiences that you dont tape what you do

2004-07-21 10:20:02 PM
Odd. This story claims one worker suspended, 3 under investigation.

News.com.au claims 3 managers and 8 workers have been fired.

2004-07-21 10:20:43 PM
Don't worry, he already got a job polishing trophies.

2004-07-21 10:21:33 PM
But they taste so much better when they've had their beaks twisted off and tabacco spit down their throats when they're still alive..

2004-07-21 10:24:13 PM
Guess guys get a little crazy just killen' chickens all day.... every day.... makes em crazy I guess.... mabe they get into kind of a frenzy.

/myopic from choken' the poor thing ..not blind yet..

2004-07-21 10:24:32 PM
I'm going to KFC to get a bucket of chikun right now...FARK peta...

2004-07-21 10:25:23 PM
Yeah... because making minimum wage rednecks sign a paper saying they won't torture the chickens works so well.

2004-07-21 10:25:54 PM
cool Red Lobster coupon ad on that article.

mm..

2004-07-21 10:26:47 PM
Lotta testosterone morons on here. Especially Pock. It's funny watching these guys trying to be macho.

2004-07-21 10:33:33 PM
Skanky google image search for I feel like chicken tonight

NSFW no pops, sorry.

2004-07-21 10:33:54 PM
Great, another story of my beloved state of Tennessee.

If choking the chicken is a crime, I'd get 25 to life.

2004-07-21 10:38:38 PM
And just after the video was shot the workers picked up the chickens and put them in the chicken processing machine that prepares them for the KFC's near you.

Wonder if cows are treated this same way before I slap them on the grill.

/finger licking good

dooder0001, If by "lotta" you mean one then yes.
It's hilarious watching these sensitive guys trying to count.

As a PETA member, all i can say is:

MISSION ACCOMPLISH'D

2004-07-21 10:42:29 PM
oh crap, are these the secret ingredient....tobacco spit, flying bowel juices, etc.

2004-07-21 10:45:29 PM
Why do they care how badly the chickens are treated before they are going to be slaughtered?

Shouldn't they worry more about, oh, I don't know, the protection of endangered species or some shiat?

2004-07-21 10:47:15 PM
Just to let ya know, The chickens you see getting slammed against the wall are not for human consumption. They were pulled from the line for one reason or another, (too small, deformed, too ugly, whatever) and are destined to become pet food, fertilizer, and meat by-products. Their necks are broken on the line or on the way to the wall. And the wall treatment helps to keep the chickens from running about as headless chickens are wont to do.

2004-07-21 10:47:46 PM
I want to secretly tape what goes on at the PETA presidents house? Can I sneak in with a camera? Hmmm,,,,photoshop?

2004-07-21 10:48:09 PM
I'm no prize but DAMN!

you asshat, how do you think they get endangered in the first place? because of the way we treat them

2004-07-21 10:48:09 PM
Why do they care how badly the chickens are treated before they are going to be slaughtered?

Silly isn't it? Why do we worry about terminally ill people, for that matter. They're just going to die anyway.

2004-07-21 10:48:29 PM
an eye for an ... uh.... beak...

I would love for the chance to throw people against a wall...

2004-07-21 10:48:49 PM
[quote]Shouldn't they worry more about, oh, I don't know, the protection of endangered species or some shiat?/[quote]

dude I don't care if there are for example a million red robins on earth. There's no point if all the robins are being ripped open and stomped on.

/What are you, serious? Animal welfare isn't just about oooh "numbers"

2004-07-21 10:49:22 PM
Tatsuma

Chickens are endangered, you asshat?

Do you realize how little sense that sentence made?

2004-07-21 10:51:08 PM
I agree that terminally ill people, too, are "over-valued" if you want to use that word. Why keep 85 year old grandma alive for 3 more months at a cost of $100K when that money could be used to make a better life for the grandkids?

2004-07-21 10:51:17 PM
What? where did I said that. It makes little sense because it's NOT what I said.

I said: a specie becomes endangered because of the way we treat them

that is ALL i said and that means everything I have to say about why we should defend all animals equally

2004-07-21 10:51:18 PM
What are the PETA freaks going to biatch about now? KFC not moving fast enough? That the workers weren't tortured?

Oh well... What do you expect out of fringe groups with domestic terror ties dead set on scaring the hell out of little kids if it'll keep 'em from eating meat?

*sigh* Glad to see them taking action, anyhow.

/Time for a steak. Medium Rare. And a side of bacon.

2004-07-21 10:52:13 PM
I'm no Prize

Uh, you're the one not making sense. Read your post, read the reply. Get it?

2004-07-21 10:52:30 PM
do people that makes steak jokes in vegetarian/PETA related threads think they are funny? or innovative?

welcome to 1991, you unfunny biatch

2004-07-21 10:53:05 PM
thanks, whatshisname...

I really thought it was easy enough not to dumb it down, but who knew

2004-07-21 10:53:35 PM
Tatsuma

You said *they* not *species*. Protecting a bunch of chickens designated for death makes less sense than protecting endangered species. If these were Wild Chickens of the Yukon, then I would agree that they deserve some protection.

2004-07-21 10:55:12 PM
Tatsuma

You PETA guys go too far sometimes, in my opinion. But in this case you done good.

2004-07-21 10:58:57 PM
If these chickens have the information we need, maybe this is necessary.

2004-07-21 10:59:04 PM
I'm no prize

why does it make less sense? on some scale, it makes even MORE sense to protect them and let them have a life as free and painless, same as their death, as possible, because of the numbers....

they deserve protection even more because they are right under human supervision and we are supposedly moral creatures, not torturing animals!

no animal maims for the fun of having something suffer
thanks.. I like to say this, about them:

The paintthrowers are to Peta what hijackers are to Islam

now, right wing, southerner, meat eaters will automatically think that half of PETA is like that, but we'll never join them as a demographic anyway

2004-07-21 10:59:45 PM

... okaaayy then.. You got a bit too disturbingly specific there. I hope your grandma ain't readin this right now.!

Tatsuma

Would you care to prescribe a more moral way for these chickens to be killed for their meat?

2004-07-21 11:03:21 PM
I've raised chickens for years. I looked at the video and the "Thowing the ckikens to the floor and against the wall"Claims. What the guy is doing is breaking the chickens neck. He has probably done so many chickens that he is just real fast and it looks like he simply thowing them down. I have rung the necks of hundreds of birds myself over the years and believe me, once the chiken neck is broken although they flop and fly around; that bird is dead and feels nothing. They have very active nerves that continue to spasm for about 1-2 minutes after they die.

Now about the guy who is stomping up and down on the bird?
I have no excuse for that Asshat.

2004-07-21 11:06:06 PM
I'm no prize but DAMN!

very easy:

*not raising them in boxes that won't permit them to walk or turn around
*not raising them in boxes that are so populated, the air is sick and the only time they get fresh air is on their way to the slaughterhouse
*not raising them in boxes where they will break their legs twice because they are overfed
*not overfeeding them
*not submit them to random beating
*not stomping them
*not throwing them on walls
*not burning them or removing their feathers while they are alive

that'd be a good start

I'm not advocating an opinion, but I'm curious what others think of the following statement from the Pilgrim's Pride website -

"We're disappointed that the individual who surreptitiously videotaped the abuses did not report them to us when they occurred so we could have taken immediate action at that time," Goolsby said. "Had he reported the incidents to plant management and to the employee hotline, as he had been instructed during the company's animal welfare training he received on September 3, 2003, corrective and disciplinary actions would have been taken many months ago, and chickens would have been spared from suffering the types of abuses shown in the video."

http://ir.thomsonfn.com/InvestorRelations/PubNewsStory.aspx?partner=10408&stor yId=117724

ASSUMING PETA didn't try to report this immediately, choosing instead to work up their show for the press... justified or no? Will PETA acknowledge and answer this charge, and if so will the answer be something in the "greater good" vein? Is this hypocrisy?

2004-07-21 11:06:29 PM
mmm chicken

2004-07-21 11:07:50 PM
It's just like if you saw a video of a puppy or kitten being stomped on, in my opinion. It is sickening.

Maybe it will make people think more about what's really on their plates?

the point why they made it public was to raise awareness as what is considered an industry "standard"

sickening, yes

Well we have to tenderize them somehow...

So you're okay with the whole breaking their necks and killing them for food aspect? Even though they haven't had time to fulfill their lives' goals of being the best chickens they can possibly be?

I think if PETA had reported it immediately, their representative would have had their cover blown, and likely would have been fired. The abuse would have continued.

According to the video, PETA has complained about this before and nothing has been done. They had to get videotaped proof and make it public before anything happened.

I do not know enough about PETA to defend everything they do, but in this case, that's the way it looks to me.

2004-07-21 11:12:38 PM
We're all for the ethical treatment of animals, I think...Except people like the ones mentioned in the article. However, they're still food.

Bottom line: Fark PETA and fark the ALF.

Penn & Teller fans will know what I'm talking about, for sure.

2004-07-21 11:15:04 PM
I'm no prize but dammit:

let me explain it to you that way. In my priorities, as a peta member:

1.Animal cruelty
2.Endangered Species
63.Meat eaters
64.Derived products eater
