If he is so super-jazzed about getting more spies, why dis he constantly vote in the Senate to cut the budgets of the CIA, FBI, and Army and try to eliminate the NSA completely?

Pardon my ignorance, but what exactly is the purpose of a 'czar' in the context of American law? I feel like I should know, but then again, perhaps I shouldn't...

ArkAngel, why did Bush had those voting being done for, btw?

This doesn't surprise me.

Kerry is NOT a good liberal, he is Bush-lite.

Well, last year when Canada wanted to change its pot laws, it sent its justice minister to ask the U.S. drug czar for permission. Permission was denied, and the law was shelved. So apparently the czar has more say in Canadian politics than canada's senate, population, and deputies.

Can't wait to not-see what the spy czar can do! S'gonna be some sneaky shiat right there!

Actually, most Conservative groups label Kerry one of the biggest liberals in the Senate. The American Conservatives Union rated him a 6 and Hillary a 13.

I have no idea what you are trying to say. Why don't you take more English classes?

We need an authority who can biatchslap the CIA and FBI at the same time and be as removed from the political . 9/11 wouldn't have happened if (a) Bush had actually been on the freaking job instead of vacationing, and (b) the FBI and the CIA were communicating & sharing intelligence.

The competition between those two agencies costs lives. An intelligence czar is a good thing, I don't care WHO proposes the idea, Bush or Kerry.

Do you oppose the war?

HIllary a 13?.. listen, if Bo Derek is a 10, Hillary is a 5.. 6 on a good day

One reason the FBI and CIA can't share intelligence is because of a law that was repealed by the Patriot Act. If the two shared intelligence, they had to make it entirely public. So there you go: either get better intelligence or let the terrorists know the CIA and FBI are on to them

"Drug Czar" has been an abysmal failure, but that doesn't necessarily imply that an Intelligence Czar would be a similar failure. The drug czar thing doesn't work because it is attempting to deny a lot of people something they believe is their right and which harms no one else. In other words, the war on drugs is a victim of massive civil disobedience - just like Prohibition (and with all of the attendant failures, like a high crime rate and people criminalized for harming no one but themselves).

An Intelligence Czar would not face such opposition, and might work. However, it sounds more like just another name for Tom Ridge's job - assuming Tom Ridge actually had the power to coordinate intelligence objectives as he should. As it stands now, his is a completely impotent political position. Maybe Kerry's version will be better.

Do you think the troops can just pack up and leave, and everything will fall into place? It won't happen. Bush has put us so deep that the only way out is to wait it out and support the new government as much as possible. Leaving would only cause great unrest and breed much more terrorism, exactly what we don't want. Kerry isn't Bush-lite.

2004-07-17 01:06:53 PM
I know a lot of people are going to vote for him as, in their opinion, the lessor of two evils....but seriously, does ANYBODY like this douchebag? Or believe anything he says?

Wouldn't he just be better off shutting the fark up, and not speaking a word about anything?

I, personally, think the upcoming debates are going to be the funniest thing ever to happen.

2004-07-17 01:07:22 PM
I'd have to think that the drug czar thing is by far the most dubious of Bush I's legacies.
For Kerry's part, this sounds like he's just throwing out an idea to guage approval. Normal presidential candidate stuff; nothing to see here. I don't know why Kerry (and Bush I before him) used such a silly word for it though.

Actually, most Conservative groups label Kerry one of the biggest liberals in the Senate. The American Conservatives Union rated him a 6 and Hillary a 13.

Actually, McGovern 72 is an ashamed-to-admit-it Bush supporter who, in desperation, has resorted to hyping Nader in the hopes that he will suck enough votes from Kerry to make a difference.

2004-07-17 01:09:08 PM
Kerry isn't very exciting, but I agree with him on a lot of the campaign issues.

2004-07-17 01:10:41 PM
If the Democrats want to win, they might want to nominate someone who has an ounce of charisma.

I mean, come on. Al Gore and John Kerry?

Actually....technically, I think he agrees with you....until polls show you're wrong. Then he's never heard of your opinion.

Buck Futter:

you know I think that was probably Kerry's original intention(to keep his head down)
and we can be sure that he's still getting a good amount of votes running on the "I'm not bush ticket," but that's just the paradigm for this election,
the right has to convince the nascar dads and soccer moms that Kerry is in fact worse than Bush (which isn't really a bad place for Kerry to be)...

That's why I think the Bush people are trying to change the elections, the big issue next election might just be gay marriage... If bush can get that to be the hot button, then he's no longer trying to make himself seem like the lesser of two evils.

2004-07-17 01:12:33 PM
Actually....technically, I think he agrees with you....until polls show you're wrong. Then he's never heard of your opinion.

So which is it: Is Kerry one of the most liberal senators, or does he flip-flop and follow the polls?

Obviously you can't have both.

2004-07-17 01:12:48 PM
Funny. Ha ha. At least Kerry is willing to change his mind and admit mistakes, something Bush and Cheney have a hard time doing, especially when it comes to Iraq.

That's the thing that makes him (and Hillary Clinton and a whole host of other Dems) so despicable...they don't CHANGE their mind because they don't SET their mind. They won't take a stand on what they "believe" on an issue unless it's the popular opinion. Which would actually be an admirable quality if they would come out and say "We want to please our contituents, so we're going to see what they want us to do, and try and work with that"....but they don't. They listen to the polls, then act like that is what they wanted to do all along (even when their own comments often times contradict that).

Fecal Pandora

He was more conservative when he began his career. He actually stood for things.

Xaxor

That's because the war is the right thing to do. And Bush doesn't always run from things when they become unpopular like Flip-Flop Kerry.

Lurch vs. Dubya. Yeah, that's gonna be a show.

I agree with someone's earlier statement. Kerry should just shut up and wait for the election. He doesn't have to win voters... there's enough anti-Bush sentiment out there to get him in. He just has to avoid scaring any of them off.

I can't wait for the SNLs (Hopefully they can get Will Farrell back, because the guy who does Bush now sucks)....because the Gore/Bush debates were some of the funniest skits they ever produced.

So when are Bush/Cheney 04 going to come out with their platform, beyond "You are safer, live in fear, 4 more years!"?
