Good thing Fox cancelled it in favor of "Reality Dipshiat Video".

Rupert, you ignorant slut.

i want futurama back. i'd give up simpsons for new futurama. was one of the funniest shows ever.

Why I hated Futurama: U.S.S. Utopia. Tom Oling.

No one has a clue what I'm talking about, do they. *sigh*

2004-07-15 01:56:43 PM
I'd kill someone to have Simpsons, Futurama and Family Guy running back to back 24/7 on the Fox Channel.

I keep finding it ironic that the broadcast company known for pushing the limits of taste also has the most conservative news organization. Seems like those don't go well together.

"Americans should not be exposed to the smut being peddled by the liberal media. Now, watch these two idiotic skimpily-dressed rich sluts drive across the country, followed by shocking video of a secretary peeing on her boss's desk chair."

Futurama, best animated show ever. Just an observation, but I think Zoidberg is Matt G's favorite character. He's the lowest of the main characters and get constantly pummeled by the others, but I think Groening has the most fun with him because of that.

"I'm on break" - Scruffy the Janitor.

I've seen one episode of Futurama, and sadly, it depressed the snot out of me. It was the one where Fry finds his dog and decides to clone it...the ending was just a downer...

2004-07-15 02:39:54 PM
that indeed was a horrible ending. *sniffles* poor waiting doggy.

2004-07-15 02:47:09 PM
My thoughts exactly. Family Guy kicks much ass though. I'm sure Futurama is awesome as well, but I'm gonna have to work my way back to it.

2004-07-15 02:47:21 PM
Yeah, that was a real downer of an ending. But that's the only real downer of an ending I can think of through the entire series. The rest of them are much funnier and leave one with a sense of strange optimism for the future. Too bad Fry couldn't pick him up during one of his time-travels and save him from that long wait.

2004-07-15 03:04:43 PM
Meh...I'll go check it out tonight on Adult Swim. :)

Small world, man! Small, small world.

2004-07-15 03:47:29 PM
The pertinent question is: Is there a repository of U.S.S. Utopia online so that when people ask me what I'm all cranky about I can show it to them and say "THAT! Futurama ripped THAT off so blatantly that sometimes the scripts are word-for-word!"

I guess it's too much to hope for.

2004-07-15 04:53:08 PM
The one ending where Fry thought his brother had stolen his lucky four leaf clover had a depressing ending as well.

The only Simpsons with a depressing ending that I can think of is the one where Homer's mom comes back and then runs off again.

Not a good idea for a cartoon to have a sad ending.

No, the best bit ever is the episode where Fry finds the planet where all the Star Trek characters have been banished - and they play Jeopardy. And Kirk randomly stands up in the audience and screams "KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!"

/oops my comicbook guy side is showing

2004-07-15 08:23:11 PM
*sigh* i miss that show.

2004-07-16 01:02:06 AM
haha now the flamewar from the simpsons thread earlier can continue! muahaha simpsons for teh win, futurama eats posterior excretement for breakfast!

2004-07-16 01:03:58 AM
Do that many people watch Adult Swim? I'm assuming that's why all of this is still popular.

First new Family Guy episodes, and now this.

2004-07-16 01:06:13 AM
Man, I miss Futurama. Poor Seymore (Fry's dog).

2004-07-16 01:07:02 AM
And adultswim on Cartoon Network was created to keep us all happy. If only they also showed the good simpsons shows. Anybody remember when Fox had like 4 different cartoons goin? Back in the day Fox was an awesome channel, but unfortunately 6 months working at Blockbuster and crappy cable tv have pushed me to watching CMT, Comedy Central, and Cartoon Network. Oh yeah, and the episode about Fry's dog was really sad.

Quick, retreat!

"Here's your pizza" I'd say
"I didn't order any" They'd say
And off I'd be, on my next adventure!

I think the writers at Futurama really loved science-fiction and refused to be limited by the typical animated formats. The episode in which Lela is in a coma and dreams that Fry is dead (you know the one) was brilliant because it tugged at the heart strings abit. And I loved the Simpsons ending of the episode in which Homer's mom comes and runs away again, and the South Park which ends with Stan's girlfriend telling Cartmen she didn't like him and he walks away sadly.

Some mod around here loves LongDong.

2004-07-16 01:19:01 AM
I don't mind Futurama having 'downer' endings, because the were GOOD downer endings that sorta fit in with the 'twist ending' of some science fiction.

Don't forget the "Globetrotter's" downer ending--Fry finally figuring out how he got Leela to love him just moments before seeing it destroyed.

2004-07-16 01:19:16 AM
Another downer ending was the one with the chronotons, where Leela blew up Fry's love letter in the sky to her, without realizing it.

That was an awesome episode, though. "Sweet Clyde! Laugh derisively at him for me!"

2004-07-16 01:19:21 AM
had to be done.

2004-07-16 01:19:47 AM
Futurama was the best cartoon on TV period. Fox really gave it the shaft. But I guess Fox had to give Andy Rictor a TV show so they kicked it to the wind....

2004-07-16 01:20:39 AM
I only have one mouth sir.
Really? How interesting...

Man, it took me like a year, but I finally got my 25th post submitted! Huzzah!

SCREW FUTURAMA AND SIMPSONS.

It's all about Family Guy for me.

2004-07-16 01:23:39 AM
In all honesty I'd like some snoo snoo about now... Oh I guess a boobie link will have to suffice for now.

2004-07-16 01:23:48 AM
I used to think that Futurama was stupid. See one or two episodes, and it just seems stupid. Then I downloaded episodes from the college network I was on and came to understand and appreciate the humor. As a side note, I will mention that despite having downloaded copies of the episodes, I still bought the DVD's. Listen up RIAA, MPAA: if you produce something decent, people will still buy DVD's even if there are ripped copies on networks. In fact if it's good enough, networks can promote your product.

Things that fox has done wrong:
1. Not realized how much younger adult males like cartoons, especially if they have intelligence and are aimed at adults. Sure they have the Simpsons, but they still don't recognize the potential for more such shows (which would hit the most lucrative demographic for getting advertisers). Instead they idiotically think that copying other networks reality shows is the way to go.
2. When they have played with such cartoons (other than the simpsons), they have not given them decent and stable time slots.

2004-07-16 01:24:13 AM
"Zzzz... kill all humans... zzzz... kill all humans...."

"Bender, wake up!"

"Aw, why'd you wake me up? I was having the nicest dream. I think you were in it!"

2004-07-16 01:24:36 AM
[zoidberg]Yaaay! They're paying attention to me![/zoidberg]

There were some teary episodes, I agree. Fry's dog, Fry finding out that his nephew, the first man on Mars, was named after him to carry on his memory, and the montage of Leela growing up at the end of the episode when she discovered her parents were mutants who gave her up so she could have a normal life...they all made me cry. And I'm not a wuss.

Futurama and Family Guy are the two big reasons I watch Adult Swim. Thank goodness Cartoon Network saved these shows from being forgotten. And Fox can go to hell and fellate satan for royally screwing over two really good shows.

2004-07-16 01:25:16 AM
"Halt! Who goes there??"

"Don't point that thing at me."

"Fry who?"

2004-07-16 01:26:28 AM
Hedonism Bot: Ah, Fry, congratulations. Your latest performance was as delectable as dipping my bottom over and over into a bath of the silkiest oils and creams.

Good times. :)

Yeah fox sucks for cancelling. I have the 3 season's dvds, I tend to watch them on my lunchbreak. I imagine how much better life would be I only had a Bender unit and a Fembot.

2004-07-16 01:28:57 AM
Zoidberg is the best

"Hooray! I'm going to a movie with friends!"

Hermes to Zoidberg: "This is comin' out of your paycheck!!"
Zoidberg breaks down crying

"Zoidy want balloon! Zoidy want go outside!"

2004-07-16 01:30:51 AM
Zoidberg to Fry: "Nonsense, young lady, I'm an expert on humans..."

/probably botched it but it was on the other night

2004-07-16 01:31:11 AM
He'll be as strong as hercules and flexible as gumby.

Gumbercules? I love that guy!

(zoidberg = da best.)

Hermes to Zoidberg: "This is comin' out of your paycheck!!"

Best part about that is that it had absolutely nothing to do with Zoidberg, and Hermes knew it.

2004-07-16 01:31:14 AM
Simpsons
Futurama
Family Guy
Aqua Teen Hunger Force

Probably the majority chunk of all the shows worth watching on TV right now.
