Hah, I thought only democrats were fat. Guess I was wrong.

2004-07-15 08:17:37 AM
I find her funny but she doesn't appear to be the best spokesperson for a weight loss company.

She's entitled to her opinions about President Bunnypants, however.

2004-07-15 08:17:53 AM
Do the presidance! Woo hoo!

/making the bad worse...

2004-07-15 08:18:30 AM
Slim-Fast is evil.

/fat person

2004-07-15 08:19:07 AM
Wow, it's amazing how some people react to other people speaking their minds. I understand that a company doesn't want an offensive spokesperson, but these comments were said in a *private* function, were not broadcast, and the people at Slimfast, among all those in an uproar in the Republican party, didn't even hear what she said!

2004-07-15 08:20:06 AM
Funny how Clinton was fair game (even he did hand them material!) Freedom of speech in America is slowly dying!

2004-07-15 08:20:15 AM
Those Whoopi comments were ridiculous. I heard there is video of John Kerry laughung at them.

Whoopi was grabbing her barbed wire covered crotch. That is nasty baby.

I'm sure Ted Danson is sorry he ever hit that.

2004-07-15 08:20:41 AM
gludlow: Of course! Free speech isn't _really_ free speech as you have to put up with all the backlash later on.

/still thinks Slim-Fast is evil.

2004-07-15 08:21:08 AM
She has the right to her opinion. Slim-Fast has the right to theirs. That being said, alot of you conspiracy theorists are going to come on here and whine about this company being a shill for the right. They don't want a spokesperson for their company aligning themselves quite stubbornly on one side of the political fence as it might affect sales. This is called smart business.

2004-07-15 08:21:26 AM
HIPOCRITES ALL! You know you would be cheering this decision if the tables were turned.

2004-07-15 08:21:30 AM
the president's name in a a sexual reference?

LICK BUSH ?

An area woman explained that Ms. Goldberg's remarks were the final straw in convincing her to avoid Ultra Slim-Fast products.

2004-07-15 08:22:48 AM
But at the same time barjockey, they now align themselves to the right, which isnt really that smart.

2004-07-15 08:23:07 AM
PGPWNIT: It's HYPOCRITES.

AAAARRRRRGGGHHH!

2004-07-15 08:24:33 AM
Why did Slim Fast have Whoopi as a spokesperson anyway?? She is not thin and doesn't appear to have lost alot of weight.

As barjockey said she is entitled to her opinion and Slim Fast is entitled to fire her ass for it.

2004-07-15 08:25:13 AM
I'm FIRED!?!?!?

2004-07-15 08:25:15 AM
Bring back Tommy Lasorta!!!!

Einstein says that it is not very imaginative to spell works only one way....or something like that.

2004-07-15 08:26:35 AM
Slim-Fast is about losing weight fast, not necessarily being thin. You might take it for a week to fit into a dress for a party. However, nothing keeps it off better than eating properly and regular exercise.

/still a fat person.

2004-07-15 08:27:00 AM
Why do lynks submited with speling err0rs get excepted?

2004-07-15 08:27:03 AM
Let's face it. She is not the first to use Bush's last name as a take-off point for low humor. Maybe Slim-Fast should look into hiring Rush Limbaugh as their spokesperson.

Also if Bush would do the reasonable thing and change his name he wouldn't have people using it for crude humor like this. I think the name Bozo The Clown would be highly appropriate for him.

2004-07-15 08:27:30 AM
Slander does not equal free speech.

2004-07-15 08:27:32 AM
PGPWNIT: Okay.

/doesn't really care, was just being evil

2004-07-15 08:27:47 AM
wickedragon

How so? If your stance is to be politically neutral, and to focus strictly on the sales of your product, how is dumping someone that will not display political neutrality aligning with the right? Consumer products companies want the $$$ - they could give a shiat about politics - this isn't "big industry" as it were, these are products that are consistantly bought and sold regardless of politics. Aligning with either side could greatly cut into your target market, and that is capitalistic suicide.

2004-07-15 08:27:56 AM
I bet this is going to be ugly.

Oh, and the arguement will be ugly too.

Freedom of Speech only means that you won't get arrested for saying what you believe.

It does not mean you won't get fired or others will speak out against you.

Are you so uneducated that you never learned that? Do you think that Freedom of speech entitles you to say anything without being acountable for it.

The Dixie Chicks were just as stupid. If they had spoken out like that in a country like the USSR or Sadam's Iraq, thaey would have been taken away and probably killed. They made a big stink about Freedom of Speech too.

2004-07-15 08:28:25 AM
Whoopi Goldberg isn't very funny, ya.

BUT is this what this buffoon of a president's supporters are hiding behind?! He's untouchable because he's the commander in chief??! I'm sorry, but HE'S A BUFFOON WHO IS EASY TO JOKE ABOUT.

She made a joke that was made MANY times about his father nearly 15 years ago...i tell ya..

2004-07-15 08:28:44 AM
Has she said/done anything funny since like 1983?

2004-07-15 08:28:54 AM
I'll back anything that results in less Whoopi Goldberg

/how does this heffa get steady work?

2004-07-15 08:29:47 AM
Republicans are so stupid.

/dreading flames from republicans who don't get the reference

2004-07-15 08:31:38 AM
uillchi, I think that's a man.

/that chick in the personals is totally picking her nose

2004-07-15 08:31:46 AM
they now align themselves to the right, which isnt really that smart

Arrgh! No, they align themselves towards being normal in the business world, which is not aligned at all. In their eyes, remaining associated with Whoopi Goldberg would pull them left, and they wish to stay neutral.

2004-07-15 08:31:58 AM
Because Whoopie is such a reliable source of viable information anyway.

2004-07-15 08:32:16 AM
The real crime is that they hired her in the first place. What does she have to do with weight loss anyway?

That said, this is just more GOP crybaby bullshiat.

2004-07-15 08:33:19 AM
I can always recognize a South Park reference, droogmilk

2004-07-15 08:33:45 AM
I think we're gonna see another Dixie Chicks-like backlash here. They complained about "being censored" after what they said about Bush. Certain people are gonna say that Whoopi is being censored which is just not true. Whoopi has every right to say what she said. And Slim Fast has every right not to do business with her. There is no censorship issue here becaue the government is not involved plain and simple. Private busniesses is another matter.

...Freedom of Speech only means that you won't get arrested for saying what you believe.

It does not mean you won't get fired or others will speak out against you...

And freedom of speech also means that we can say this seems like a lame, paranoid decision by the makers of Rush Limbaughs favourite non-dairy breakfast treat.

Mmmmm...

2004-07-15 08:34:17 AM
But at the same time barjockey, they now align themselves to the right, which isnt really that smart.

wickeddragon- How are they aligning themselves with the right by removing her as spokeswoman? When K-Mart removed Martha Stewart follwing her unsavory financial practices, was that politically motivated? I don't think Slim-Fast is aligning themselves either way. People are funny in that they will make buying choices based on seemingly ludicrous criteria. I didn't buy a Toyota for years because of that stupid "talking TV campaign".

Whoopi Goldberg made some off color comments about the President. These comments got out in the public. Slim Fast is obviously afraid some folks might not buy their product if it's represented by someone with views that are publically not in line with their target market. It's business, not politics. And it's shows what Big Business thinks of Average American, which is not much.

Freedom of Speech is alive and well. People have to realize you are free to say whatever you want. You just need to be ready for the backlash if it's controversial.

/proud not to have made any fat jokes in the writing of this comment

Doesn't really matter where she said it. It's generated publicity. Publicity Slim-Fast would rather not deal with.

It's a wise decision from a business perspective. Why risk losing potentional revenue? Some people--morons, or "morans" as they spell it--will see this as an infringement upon Whoopi's first amendment rights. You know, because Slim-Fast has an obligation to protect Whoopi's right to free because of that Constitution of the United States it enacted 200-something years ago. Or somehing like that. Fortunately, those people usually don't vote so the rest of us are golden.

If you see this as an infringement of the first amendment, DO NOT VOTE! YOU'RE IGNORANT AND ARE BADLY IN NEED OF AN EDUCATION!!!

An early AM flame war to keep my coffee warm.
She's an x-rated comic - what would you expect her to say?
The right is just reacting the same way the left did with the VP's comments. Either live with it or get back to our puritanical roots and put people in stockades for saying those words.

2004-07-15 08:38:46 AM
I think this is odd considering that Slim Fast must have known of her political stance before hiring her. She has been pissing and moaning about Republicans for years, and such comments are widely known to be part of her act (see Droogmilk's comment above). Did Slim Fast think that she would stop after they hired her as a spokesperson?

Clueless lefties mumbling something about the First Admendment in 3 - 2 - 1

2004-07-15 08:40:35 AM
before you anti-bush people begin to open your mouths and allow your foot to be firmly planted in the vacuum that forms... listen...

I got to hear Whoopi's comments at this event, the woman was more crass then a drunken sailor on a south east asian shore leave.

The woman was vulgar and inappropriate. Even I don't like Bush that much, but he's still my President.

Had someone spoke of Clinton this way, there would of been cries for murder.

2004-07-15 08:41:21 AM
And in other news...

Local Farker, known only as Origin_of_the_Feces goes on tri-state killing spree after hearing the word consumer for the 9billionth time. Witnesses state that he was muttering about the "greasy connotations" of the word as he went through stabbing people with a spork. The FBI has launched a massive manhunt for him.

Film at 11.

Okay, but seriously....As weird as this may sound, I actually am pretty fed up with having that word thrown about on a daily basis. I mean, to call people consumers is to imply that we are no better than sheep to be allowed to gorge ourselves before being led to the slaughter. What ever happened to the days when we were customers?

Slander does not equal free speech.

Then explain how Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly, Ann Coulter, et al. get away with it so frequently.

Perhaps it's because they're not criticizing a Republican "presidant." I thought this was the "Unitad States of Amarica"!

I've just heard they've offered the job to singing sensation Barbara Streisand.

/That's farking comedy, biatches
