hehehe-

I can see the cops now- better let us "defuse" this suspicious cooler. Nope this beer was not explosive, I think we might have to taste them all- in the name of homeland security and God of course.

I don't know. Ask your biatch what he/she thinks.

It's shiat like this that makes Fahrenheit 9/11 halfway believable (one of the movies points was that they want to keep everybody scared and confused by making up bullshiat terror warnings-but go enjoy the holidays-but watch out for evil beer coolers-but buy lots of stuff-but be on the look out for evil Muslims-but be nice to your fellow citizen).

Christ. I'm so sick of this sh*t. If they aren't going to follow through and manufacture some fake terror to go along with their fake terror threats, nobody is going to keep buying this sh*t.

Not trying to start a flamewar here or anything, but what are they supposed to do exactly. If they tell people to be more vigilant, the people scream about excessive warnings. If they say nothing and sh*t happens, the people scream about how the government knew about it, or should have, but failed to warn anyone.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't it seems to me.

This is BS. Very few complain about the government "failing to warn". Even the idiots forgetting hindsight = 20/20, that biatch that the government didn't do enough, even they don't complain that the "government didn't warn them". They complain that the government didn't stop the terrorist attacks. Vague warnings are useless, and everyone with half a brain knows it.

My family's complaint is that the warnings are either absurd or pervasive. If they're stopping a terrorist a minute, that's great but either give the people a warning we can really duct tape to or shut up.

Ya see global warming is real. However I do not "crusade" against it because I fight the battles I can win. Nothing will stop Global warming at this point. However I can get rid of your daddy George.

Fight the battles that matter.

Bombs in coolers spare me, now they don't even want us to drink with our buddies. What is next, Your toliet paper might be treated with contact poison?

Did you bother to read the next two sentences? I explained it quite well.

they don't complain that the "government didn't warn them". They complain that the government didn't stop the terrorist attacks.

Maybe if you read this HTML Tutorial it'll stop looking like it's your first day on the internet.

I especially like the embedded double quotes. Google a grammar lesson for yourself.

Strange, I have a complete brain and I see it differently. I guess I came off wrong in my previous post. What I am saying is that I don't believe our government telling us to be "more vigilant" on holiday weekends is that big of a deal or crying wolf. All across America this weekend, there will be gatherings of thousands, if not tens of thousands of people. The government wants to remind people that there are still alot of people that want them dead and to be aware of their surroundings. How is this a bad thing. It's not as if the FBI is telling people to cancel their celebrations or stay home - just be aware.

Yeah, like the war on terrorism. And how do you think I knew you believed that BOGUS science of global warming. You libs are so totally predictable. If you believe global warming is real then you are truly deluded. There is some very minor REAL scientific evidence of slight climatic change world wide. To attribute it too man-made causes is to totally ignore that big yellow ball in the sky. (It's called the sun, come out of the basement and see it every now and again. It's really hot.)

I just find it funny that you said, "The government just wants you to know that a lot of people want you dead - just in case you forgot." I'm sorry I laughed at you for having such a naive view of the world.

You can get people to do anything as long as they're afraid.

This doesn't make anyone safer. People in fear are more dangerous than those that aren't. A cornered animal is a dangerous animal.

Do you really think we, or our police (remember the article?) need to be reminded that America is a pariah? The current issue should be whether or not our police really need the DOJ telling them to watch out for evildoer coolers.

Thank you. You made me work for that compliment.

Let me ask you one question then - do you or do you not believe that there are people in this country who would like to kill me or you solely because we are Americans. I really don't know the answer to this question but it seems to me that if there are, I would want people to be a bit more vigilant this weekend. You may very well be correct when you say that these warnings make nobody safer but does it hurt to remind people of the danger, however remote that danger may be.

2004-07-02 04:44:39 PM
Geotpf- that is EXACTLY what I was thinking when I saw that article. This is just the sort of thing they were talking about in Fahrenheit 9/11. Made up shiat to keep us scared.

2004-07-02 04:45:26 PM
And note that this is in an Ohio newspaper, the most important state in the election alongside Florida.

You all are such JUVENILES!!!! If you think the warnings suck, ignore them!!!! If they stopped giving warnings, 5 million elderly people will start whining about how are government isnt doing enough. Get over it! There hasnt been an attack on america in three years. Let uncle sam scream all they want to. it doesnt affect my plans. Of all the things our country does wrong, a bunch of slack jawed yokel bush haters can only think of the terror alert system? Get a life, people.

angryjd, what it does is keep cops alert for the terrorism boogyman rather than real crime. It keeps state and federal taxes pouring down a bottemless pit, when it's doing nothing. It scares some people who don't know bush and his boys are full of shiat.

Boys and girls take warning, if you go near the lake
Keep your eyes wide open, and look for Sneaky Sheik
Now maybe you won't see him, maybe you won't hear
But he'll sneak up behind you, and blow up all of your beer

And then Sneaky Sheik goes jihadin', loo loo loo'n and a-prayin'
Sneaky Sheik goes jihadin', shootin' and a-roasting the bellies of the infidelic pagan Jew scum in the pits of eternal Hell
I don't like old Sneaky Sheik; he's too fundy you see
When he goes wigglin' through Canadian Customs, it tickles his underneath

Well, Sneaky Sheik doesn't drink beer, and he just makes me sick
When he is not firing his AK-47 into the air in celebration, he looks just like a Q-tip
Now, he wears a hood over his face, you cannot see his ears
And while we are not lookin', he's kidnapping civilians and cutting off their heads

And then Sneaky Sheik goes jihadin', loo loo loo'n and a-prayin'
Sneaky Sheik goes jihadin', shootin' and a-roasting the bellies of the infidelic pagan Jew scum in the pits of eternal Hell
I don't like old Sneaky Sheik; he's too fundy you see
When he goes wigglin' through Canadian Customs, it tickles his underneath

klatubaradanikto, thanks... now I have "Sneaky Snake" stuck in my head...

2004-07-02 05:40:47 PM
Give me a freakin' break. They issued this warning, but also said that they have absolutely no information suggesting that anyone might actually be planning to do something like this. In other words, they just dreamed up some completely hypothetical scenerio and then told us to watch out just in case.

WATCH OUT! (But go about your business) BUT BE CAREFUL! (But don't worry) BUT DON'T GO OUTSIDE! (But keep your normal daily routine) BUT RUN FOR YOUR LIVES! (And remember to vote for Bush)

2004-07-02 05:50:26 PM
Dear local policemen,

There could be coolers that blow up this weekend, so check as many as you can and confiscate anything remotely suspicous.

Sincerely,
DoHS

P.S. Enjoy a beer on us.

2004-07-02 06:04:59 PM
What this is really doing is giving the police some sort of quasi-legitimate cover when they want to go around harassing people on July 4th.

Anyone with coolers, disposable or not, will be fair game if the police want to "ask" to look inside, you know for terrorism prevention purposes.

2004-07-02 06:26:23 PM
This is "old", I submitted a similar article at least a week ago from another source and it was rejected.

My favorite parts about this terror alert are that (a) it came out the same weekend F911 opened, and (b) after citing its ridiculous premise, it goes on to of course mention that there is no evidence anyone is even considering such an attack.

2004-07-02 06:48:11 PM
Nice Booby-Trap!

2004-07-02 08:38:57 PM
Actually, they didn't send out the alert to the public. We, the gov't employees, have been getting these things for years. Sometimes they talk about criminals or scams and sometimes they talk about things to keep an eye on and sometimes they talk about network activity or attacks on gov't related websites.

These things weren't intended for the public, but there's generally no reason to refuse them to the public. However, a whole bunch of media outlets want them. They sensationalize them for their own egos, and off they (ya'll) go.

Get over it. If you want the information, take it as that weekly memo that comes out at your companies that nobody reads.

2004-07-02 09:49:52 PM
Fellow citizens, when our collective favorite legal drug is implicated in possible, nay, probable, terrorist acts, that is alcohol abuse.

Please, think of the alcohol.
