Overrated

tr.v. overrated, overrating, overrates
To overestimate the merits of; rate too highly.

2004-06-30 10:58:31 AM
Props to Stern. I can't stand his humour - I think he's a no-talent assclown, but if other people like it then he shouldn't be censored off the air. Good job. And hooray for pissing off the religious right and "think of the children" types.

2004-06-30 10:58:59 AM
This is a big win for Stern. Hopefully it means that Viacom will stand up to the FCC the next time they throw fines down.
If any of these fines ever went to court the government would lose.

2004-06-30 10:59:07 AM
cut back on the edgy stuff, just so he can rail on the current administration and what's going on in the country.
Fair and balanced, right?

Yeah, it is fair and balanced. Last time I checked he probably paid his taxes and is most likely an American.
For shame if he were to say what's on his mind.

2004-06-30 10:59:14 AM
Yeah his show sucks, but that's absolutely no reason to say he shouldn't be able to have it. Agreeing with something isn't the same as agreeing the why's about it too.

2004-06-30 10:59:19 AM
Howard is a first class prick, but he is fighting the good fight, therefore, I support him.

2004-06-30 11:00:23 AM
Howard Stern = old and busted.

/no one cares

2004-06-30 11:00:34 AM
As was previously stated, I don't really like Stern. I don't think he is funny, and I happen to prefer Bob and Tom. I do think that cencorship is wrong and that if you don't like Stern, do what I do, CHANGE THE STATION OR TURN OFF THE RADIO. The power button is the only censorship that radio needs.

2004-06-30 11:00:41 AM
I thought Howard Stern was killed in a tragic Video attack in 1980, at the beginning of the Age of Plastic.

It appears I have been misinformed. Perhaps I should check my mind and my car for new evidence.

2004-06-30 11:00:54 AM
Stern rocks. The show lost a step when Billy West & Jackie Marlo left, but still about 4.5x better than any of the inane local radio detritus. Case in point -- Y100 in Philly. Today's topic "Accidental Porn!" Call in with your incredible stories of accidentally accessing porn!

Caller 1: "Hi my grandfather was searching for Dean Martin and porn popped up!"
Wacky DJs: "OMG! Haha! Dean MARTIN?!"

Caller 2: "I was looking for pictures of popstars and went to popstars.com. It was a porn site!"
Wacky DJs: "That's CRAZY!"

Repeat for Callers [3-17].

/Howard's still got it
//Yucko for John's job

2004-06-30 11:01:14 AM
Howard Stern is awesome. All of his haters are his best marketers.

So as a fan I say keep flaming.

2004-06-30 11:01:49 AM
Howard Stern is contributing to the demoralization of America. It's a shame.

2004-06-30 11:02:13 AM
Regardless of what you think of Howard, it would be a huge shift in voting blocks and power in this country if he can make the difference in the 3 major swing states PA, OH, and FL. I hope Kerry wins, and wins only because of those states, and we see MORE studies proving Howard was a major influence!

Howard Stern + Big Bucks From Viacom = Hypocrit

2004-06-30 11:02:32 AM
For everyone who missed him since ClearChannel kicked him off, allow me to sum up what you missed:

1.) Naked people (on the RADIO.)
2.) Rants about how he's persecuted.
3.) Rants about how he's done more for radio than Marconi.
4.) Rants about how everyone rips him off.
5.) Threats to quit.
6.) Making his lackeys fight each other.

....exactly the same as it has been since 1982. He has become the guy he used to make fun of.

2004-06-30 11:02:42 AM
Stern is to the First Amendment now what Larry Flynt was in the 80s.

We defend the speech of people we don't like in this country, whether it's smut or politically incorrect. When we start to nitpick the entire concept goes to hell.

2004-06-30 11:02:44 AM
Why do they call this A$$hole a "Shock Jock"? He hasnt done anything new or shocking in years. How many naked women do you need to hear being made fun of before you get the idea?

2004-06-30 11:02:46 AM
Noice!

Fark Clear Channel and their Neocon overlords!

The revolution will be broadcast...

2004-06-30 11:02:47 AM
Stern Bashing = old and busted

Having an original though = New hotness

2004-06-30 11:02:47 AM
Stern is the first target of the FCC. Next will be morning shows and talk radio. Stern just got hit first because he was the biggest.

TV and radio need to be released from the grip of the Federal Censorship Commision. Let boobies reign!

2004-06-30 11:02:47 AM
Is there a web broadcast of the Howard Stern show?

Nope. Although if you're like me, and there are no stations broadcasting it in your area, you can get the show in alt.binaries.howard-stern.

Stern is still the best interviewer on radio. He doesn't give a dingo's kidneys about publicists or political correctness. He still asks the questions that I would ask.

Hey Bob!

AHAHHAHAHHAHAHHAHHAHHAH!

Hey Tom!

AHHAHAHHAHAHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Hey Chick!

AHAHHAHAHHAHHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA!

It's 12 past the hour...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Tim Wilson and Heywood Banks are coming right up...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

All you Stern haters

Its not about Stern per se, its about freedom of speech, whether you like him or not.

BTW- that Artie pig/coke story was hilarious.

2004-06-30 11:03:19 AM
Looks like these radio stations are admitting the facts: you can love Stern, you can hate Stern, you can not give a rat's ass about Stern, but he does sell commercials, and THAT is what it's all about.

No no RedfordRenegade, paying taxes and being American are not good enough anymore. You have to have a American flag bumper sticker with a catchy phrase like "Freedom isn't free" or "Support our President, Support our Troops"

Speaking your mind, esp. if it's against the Iraq war or the Bush & Company administration means you are a hitler loving, terrorist supporting traitor. Do you love Osama or something?

2004-06-30 11:03:55 AM
Oh great, he's back on in Orlando. BFD....
I used to be a huge Stern fan back in the 80's-90's, but he's gotten so boring over the last few years (oh yes, another segment with: a midget/lesbian/Playboy-wannabe/retard/trannie/incestuous couple/homeless person/David Letterman/has-been rock group/Mike Walker in which: boobs are shown/quiffing occurs/women tongue-kiss/someone farts "America the Beautiful"/more boobs are shown/golden showers are discussed/rants about Mel Carmazon occur/Gary is dissed for his big teeth/some intern shows her boobs/a rant to the FCC occurs/stories of 'band hi-jinks' that never really happened occur/even more boobs are shown----- how original)
Plus, the E shows NEVER showed the boobs anyway, so "circle jerk" is quite appropriate.

The only reason I listened to him was that other morning shows were even more asinine. Once they kicked him out of Orlando, I went back to CDs.

2004-06-30 11:03:57 AM
Stern sucks, listen to Bob and Tom

who?

2004-06-30 11:04:26 AM
I agree Dizzledorf, Stern is the only option in Philly. Y100 morning show sucks, WMMR's the Philly guys also blow. The only show that ever competed with Stern in Philly was Opey and Anthony, and we all know what happened there...

2004-06-30 11:04:26 AM
whatpeoplearethinking, hes affecting morale?

i dont like the guy, but he is fighting the good fight.

and where the fark is my bavarian beer t-shirt?

2004-06-30 11:06:16 AM
glad to hear he's finally coming back to Austin, even if it's on an idiotic hip-hop station...

2004-06-30 11:06:21 AM
Lighten up, people. Either you think Yucko is funny or you don't.

How much is that ****** in the window?

2004-06-30 11:06:22 AM
Stern Bashing = old and busted
Having an original though = New hotness

Having an original though = Nobody cares
Old and Busted = Gets the dumb masses drooling

/just check all the perpetual Fark cliches as proof.

2004-06-30 11:06:43 AM
Howard's show is alright, but I'd love to produce a bit and have callers decide who to maim and injure first - Ronnie or Cabbie. I hate those idiots.

2004-06-30 11:06:53 AM
WQYK in Tampa is a country music station. The 'Good ol' Boys' and 'Get 'R Dones' there are in for a real surprise.

Exactly why Bob and Tom are never played on my radio. EVER.

What the f/ck is so entertaining about two rednecks laughing all the time?

2004-06-30 11:08:02 AM
What is there not to like about Howard Stern? He's a man of integrity, he's innovative, and he also happens to be one of the greatest interviewers in history of mass media.

I guess it's not for everybody.

2004-06-30 11:08:41 AM
Although I support Sterns right to free speech, I'm tired of listening to him drone on and on about the FCC and Bush.

He whines like a 14 year old girl that you won't let out of the house.

(uhmm cus she's grounded...just thought I'd clear that up..nothing weird going on at my house...really...I swear)

2004-06-30 11:08:49 AM
Thank goodness! My morning commute would be a complete drag without him...

2004-06-30 11:09:23 AM
It's good to have him back, but I'll miss the morning show that he replaces in West Palm Beach. They were what filled the 30 minute void during his commercial breaks.

2004-06-30 11:09:27 AM
I think one of the funniest thing is that many of the people who wrote in "protest letters" are in radio markets that Stern's show is not carried in.

How can you accuse someone of violating community decency standards in a community he is not currently in?

2004-06-30 11:09:53 AM
Congratulations to Howard!!! I am pleased to see when people say "Howard sucks, but I support his right to be on the radio, and fight the good fight!" It's good to see people who understand freedom of choice, and choose to turn the dial. To those who say, he shouldn't be on at all... Fark you

2004-06-30 11:09:55 AM
Can't win them all I guess.

2004-06-30 11:10:08 AM
the reasons for Stern not going to satellite? Clear Channel owns a large chunk of XM (how do you think they got all the commercials on radio telling people that radio sucks)
*
Stern has also been bashing Bush, promoting Kerry but wasnt on in any important "swing" states ... now he's back on in Florida

2004-06-30 11:10:14 AM
FKA:

Bob and Tom are comedians, and they interview comedians. What the fark is so funny about some old 'n busted has-been talking to naked chicks on the radio?

2004-06-30 11:10:29 AM
I miss Opie & Anthony

Don't like Stern? Turn him off.

It's simple really.

/wish I could get his show here in BFE

2004-06-30 11:10:46 AM
Great, now we have the liberal answer to Rush constantly bashing Bush for 5 hours a day in nine more markets.

2004-06-30 11:10:56 AM
Bob and Tom are classic examples of aging washed up radio "personalities". I always think of them when the Simpsons' radio characters appear. Stern at least has always harpooned overblown fevered egos. I always enjoy hearing them goof on news stories and actor soundbites...

2004-06-30 11:11:11 AM
Hey "WhatPeopleAreReallyThinking"

Demoralization? There is this neat feature on all of America's radios which changes the station - use it if you are so morally weak that someone can influence you and !!!!!!viola! you can listen to something more in tune with your weak mindedness.

Choice, that is what Howard stands for - feel free to listen or not - I choose to listen.
