Check out "ass" in the 1920s. Apparently they all died out by the 90s.

2002-01-18 01:55:39 PM
I guess I don't really exist either.

2002-01-18 01:55:50 PM

What's up with Oregon? Enter Smith, Jones, or Johnson and that state has the least of all them.

Great, another link to an old webiste on Fark. Next they'll be trotting out a link to "The Onion" like it's cutting edge. I don't wanna get off on a rant here, but lately there seems to be a dearth of new things on Fark and plenty of this old sh|t from the Internet's infancy. Meanwhile real stories like the Oliver Stone "bin Laden Consipracy" go unmentioned. Furthermore, did I miss the link to the story about the FDNY memorial statue?

Go here to see proof that there are more Frigos in Illinois than anywhere else.

http://www.hamrick.com/names/names.cgi?surname=frigo&year=1990&type=html

And yes, my HTML skills suck ass, but at least my last name isn't Frigo.

2002-01-18 01:59:55 PM

It confirmed what I already knew about my dad's side of the family. Started out in Deleware in the 1850's, then half of the family went to Nebraska and the other half went to California. What's intersting to me that there are enough of us to show up on the map...

2002-01-18 02:05:43 PM

The last name "Jass", as in Hugh, is only common in Iowa. Must be a lot of Hugh Jasses in Iowa.

2002-01-18 02:10:23 PM
Obvious - Hernandez is all over the states - must move to Maine where they are only 1 in 10,000. We must not like the cold?

Interesting to note that there seemed to be Trees only in Nevada. Yet there were a smattering of Oaks throughout the country, and a pretty large concetration of Maples in Middle America.

2002-01-18 02:12:15 PM
Evidently, all the "Whitey"'s died off between 1880 and 1920. And they lived in Connecticut!! Bwahahahaha!

Even if it was posted before, it's still pretty spiffy.

It confirms my theory that Nebraska is full of Czechs.

Try Swoboda, Cech, Cerny, Sedlacek, Jedlicka, Bohac, Horak, Prohaska, or any other fun Czeck names.

Believe it or not, "Mailman" is a last name. In Maine. So, is it "The Mailmans are coming for dinner" or "The Mailmen are coming for dinner"?

2002-01-18 02:17:44 PM
My last name is Christensen, which is not too common in New York, where I live.
No surprise about MN, but Utah is just filled with 'em.

2002-01-18 02:23:07 PM
Christ I have a generic name. I only had like one yellow, and that was Oregon. Everything else was orange...with the highest concentration in....drum roll please...North Dakota. How boring.

2002-01-18 02:27:43 PM
I would think it would be "The Mailmans are coming to dinner."

Unless... you know... that was a rhetorical question...
