Great. This guy played Dracula in the 90s "Bram Stoker's Dracula" movie. That movie was such a farce.... It's not even a joke anymore when people say Lucas doesn't care about Star Wars.

The REAL villain in the
three STAR WARS prequels....

2004-06-24 07:53:58 PM
Strange, I thought the most vile scum in StarWars was General Lucas.

2004-06-24 07:54:26 PM
adolf, me too. :-/

i am not sure if it's better or worse w/ oldman

Gary Oldman is the best actor of our time.

[image from aboutfilm.com too old to be available]

Just looking at how different his roles are, in The Contendor, he changes his mannerisms and appearance so much it was hard to tell it was him.

2004-06-24 07:55:13 PM
Wow... Jar Jar jokes. That's so... original.

Jar Jar lives, by the way.

2004-06-24 07:55:36 PM
Damn it, Jackmeat - you've ruined the movie for me....

That's George Lucas' job, not yours!

Curse you Blad! CURSE YOU!

2004-06-24 07:56:00 PM
Jar-Jar needs to die in a drinking contest, that way it would be funny... _MORE_ funny.

2004-06-24 07:58:26 PM
Oldman won't do this.

He has a contract for a few more Harry Potter movies.

Since they started filming Goblet of Fire at the beginning of this month, I say this is BS.

Hold on a second, I'm a bit zoned out here... has the 3rd new Star Wars been out yet? I know there was Attack of the Clones, was that the 2nd or 3rd? I feel so silly

2004-06-24 08:00:35 PM
I lost faith in Lucas whih that whole damn "Ewoks" thing back in the third film.
Ewoks, bah! Should have been an army of Wookies.
And if you really want bad-ass you get Michael Ironside.

2004-06-24 08:01:04 PM
Why doesn't George send the movie and movie rights to Peter Jackson (for all you cavemen out there he directed movies patterned after the "Lord of the Rings" books, among other things).

2004-06-24 08:01:31 PM
i would pay $100 or more for a ticket if i could see jar-jar get hurled out of an airlock and explosively decompress.

that's worth $100.

2004-06-24 08:01:41 PM
I never thought I'd say this, but I hope Lucas dies choking on a pool of his own vomit right before production of part 3, forcing BioWare to rewrite the whole script turning it into a kickass story like KoTOR.
[image from kidzworld.com too old to be available]

I think Lucas was out of ideas before chapter one. He's just trying to cash-in on the fame of the old flicks. (thus the existence of jar jar and the lousy actor playing a whiney teen vader in part 2)

Lucas still hasn't gotten off his fat ass and started this 3rd movie yet? Is he that much of an idiot?

What I heard some years ago was that SW3 was actually shot and partway into post-production when Lucas realized that the film was absolutely god-awful (which tells you it must have really sucked). It's being rewritten and shot again.

2004-06-24 08:02:34 PM
Come on Gary, you're better than this.

Johnny Depp is a better actor, though.

2004-06-24 08:02:51 PM
They're still making this crap?

2004-06-24 08:03:43 PM

Hey, this movie isn't going to suck like the last two, guys! Look how badass this guy looks! He's so scary! And he doesn't look like he's created just for mass-market action figure production at all!

/sarcasm

Well, at least Gary will be one thing in the movie that isn't utter crap.

And if he kills Jar Jar, I will happily name him Greatest. Star Wars. Villain. EVER.

2004-06-24 08:05:51 PM
I woulda been happier if Lucas had handed off the Prequels to others so he can concentrate on the children's movies he so deperately wants to do.

Jean-Puc_Licard

could anything be stupider than the villain he played in 5th Element?

Seriously. Not that HE was bad at it, but that role has ruined all other Gary Oldman movies for me... With the possible exception of Rosencrans and Guildenstern...

Nah, ruined that one too.

2004-06-24 08:06:16 PM
Craphola, I think I'm going to hurl. Where's George Lucas? I want him choking on *MY* puke!

2004-06-24 08:06:21 PM
A peek into Lucas's mind:

Lets see here...names for villians...

Darth Mual. Crap, used that
Darth Sidious. Argh, already taken
Sid Vicious. Grr, rock star
Dr. Evil. Perfect! Wait, no, taken

I got it! General Grevious! I've done it again, I'm such a genius!

2004-06-24 08:06:23 PM
Oldman is only doing the VOICE of the character. The character is CGI (of course).

And the movie was filmed last summer. It's in post-production now and will be out May 19, 2005.

2004-06-24 08:06:57 PM
Great. Another villain to be totally over-merchandised.

I've lost count of the number of discount stores I've seen filled with Darth Maul raincoats, sleeping bags, pencil cases and fruit chews. Not to mention the flingin' flangin' Giant Jar-Jar Head-Lid Plastic Cups.

Batsard wrote himself into a corner in 1983 and we've been paying for it ever since.

/Glad to be a superhero movie fanboy instead of SF movie fanboy.

For all you Star Wars haters, Grevious made his first appearance in the Clone Wars series on Cartoon Network. I'm giving Episode 3 a chance. Christ, I love Star Wars look at the name.

General Grevious, who is part-alien/part-robot.

Fcuk you Lucas.

That made me laugh.

when i first looked at the headline i saw gary coleman.

Same here. He could prove to be the most fearsome villain yet -- no kneecap would be safe.

2004-06-24 08:09:51 PM
Gary Oldman = great at being bad
Star Wars I-II = just bad

Isn't Darth Vader going to finally show up? Nobody could be more badass than him.

I had such high hopes.

Needs more Walken.

Smells like faliure.

Looks like Disney.

Is it just me, or is it that the biatching ratio to those that will go and see the movie way too high?

I mean if you are truly disappointed with the movies and hate Lucas with every fiber of your being, then you need to put up or shut up. Dont go see the movie, dont rent it on DVD and change the channel when it hits HBO.

I guess he died of old age before Episode 4

Some people see the name Gary Oldman and think Gary Coleman. I see Gary Oldman and think... Allan Rickman. Why? What's wrong with me?

2004-06-24 08:13:40 PM
Has NO ONE here seen the last episode of the Tartovsky "Clone Wars" cartoons that aired a while ago on Cartoon Network?

Grevious made his debut in that cartoon. The movie may "suck, on the whole" but Grevious comes of like a super badass while he is on screen.

He surrounds two council members and their padawans while sweeping up after a victorious battle. The jedi are sweating listening to his mechanical footsteps approaching...its quite an effective scene.

Of course he promptly slays all the jedi there with some in-human two and three saber fighting.

People LET YOURSELVES BE ENTERTAINED for once. Yikes. Lucas isn't trying to make art films. He is trying to make you (and the children in the audience with you) smile and cringe for a couple hours.

Dont go see the movie, dont rent it on DVD and change the channel when it hits HBO.

Once it hits HBO, you're already paying for it; may as well see it, even if to play at MST3K the whole time.

If you watched the Cartoon Network/Teletoon short cartoons, we see General Grevious in chapter 20. He kicks the butts of 4 jedis at one time. I watched the episode and when it ends, you just see Yoda with a very scared look on his face. We don't see what happens to the Jedi but you can assume they all have been snuffed.

For all of you out there bashing Star Wars... good, don't go. Sit at home and I will have the theatre to myself. No No, don't try to say you didn't mean it. You said it. So stay home and miss this last chapter that leads to Star Wars: A New Hope

Just watched Dracula this weekend.

I know it's bad, but I really like that movie.

Teucer;

Did the ending not give you chills? I mean Yoda's face just made me a little scared. Someone the Jedi can't beat.

General Grevious, who is part-alien/part-robot

Technically speaking, they're ALL aliens. (Or robots, or part-aliens-part-robots, or...) Don't let the fact that some of them appear to be Earthlings fool you. Han Solo is a Corellian.

So far he has certainly fulfilled the second part.

After getting to be CRAZY GARY OLDMAN in Hannibal and Harry Potter, I guess he needs another estranged villain-type thing to keep the image.

Star Wars reminds me of the level of imagination I encountered while playing D&D back in the day. My younger brother's friend was running the game, and you could tell a 13 year old was in charge. We had to go to the whorehouse to recover our hit points.

Yeah, General Grevious is something like that.

/hopes Jar-Jar gets sent to Hormel to be 'mechanically separated'
