I want to see the costume.

Funny how someone can make something using creativity, fun, and technical knowledge and then they are labeled by a bunch of people who've never created anything in their life as a 'no life loser' for it.

StomachMonkey 2004-04-25 04:37:14 PM
ok. saw the costume. I don't think he'd have been as ridiculed if he hadn't made it so form fitting, didn't have so much weight on, and wasn't sporting a camel toe.

Visualingo [TotalFark] 2004-04-25 05:02:02 PM
The ass camel-toe is what got me.

I thought the costume was a neat idea, but I'd have never posted the pics of myself on the internet. Didn't he learn anything from the Star Wars kid?

SockMonkeyHolocaust 2004-04-25 05:11:13 PM
I thought it was hilarious that he has Slashdot and Fark to thank for his widespread popularity, but he still disparages both sites.

culbeda 2004-04-25 05:18:50 PM
I think the star wars kid would be a closer comparison to this.

newmoonpuppyhead 2004-04-25 05:22:20 PM
Anyone got the picture?

ElCorridor 2004-04-25 05:24:38 PM
If you've got it, flaunt it. The opposite is also good advice.

Great job with the Tron suit, but fer chrissakes, borrow a mannequin or something.

Visualingo [TotalFark] 2004-04-25 07:12:30 PM
>I thought it was hilarious that he has Slashdot and Fark to thank for his widespread popularity, but he still disparages both sites.

But will he thank us for his 15 minutes?

The Slashdot commenters were savage, vicious, and brutal. They acted just like a bunch of 9th-graders putting down the new geeky kid in class. Of the 320 comments on the story right now, less than 20 are in any sense positive.

It got worse. Someone posted the story to Fark. Several someones. Lots of soemones. The Fark kiddies had their fun; the only difference was that it was a bunch of 7th-graders: even more juvenile.

"Why don't those stupid idiots let me in their crappy club for jerks?"

What an egocentric ass! You, Jay Maynard, are NOT a Phenomenon! In fact there is absolutely nothing phenomenal about you. In a few more weeks you will be nothing more than an old joke thumb tacked to the corkboard above the office water cooler. Slip back into your ergonomic chair and yuck it up now because when tomorrow comes, you will agian be the no one that you always were....

motionblur 2004-04-26 12:33:13 AM
In all honesty, what did he expect the mass reaction to be?

/ cool idea, bad execution.

twotontim 2004-04-26 01:39:16 AM
If I post a picture of my nuts on Fark, can I be a sensation too?

barneyfifesbullet 2004-04-26 02:12:52 AM
Add a codpiece, call it an upgrade.

Either way, you're gonna get slammed. That's just the way it is. Especially, when you look like that.

It's still kind of cool.

etymxris 2004-04-26 03:45:34 AM
Seth_J: I thought that's what being an internet phenomenon was all about. Burn brightly, burn quickly, fade just as fast.

And what's the need to put the guy down so viciously? I don't agree that we're all seventh graders here, but I'm not going to validate his presumptions by spewing vitriol.

TheOmni [TotalFark] 2004-04-26 04:26:35 AM
I think the outfit is cool, but it could seriously use a codpiece. Or even just stuffing his underwear a little to make the bulge smoother and less offensive. To fully appreciate the outfit I kept looking at it scrolled so that I could only see the torso. From there it is bad ass.

Number of typos caught in the preview: 8. That's more than two per sentence. I think I need some more sleep.

Revenge of the Nerds ! First William Hung now him.

robbie_star 2004-04-26 07:25:22 AM
I seriously wish he would wear a cup, so we dont see the outline of his nuts. Thats farking sick.

Something awful had it before Fark. And he was just as scary looking then. Hell, I date a guy who is overweight and tall, I have no problems with fat, being of the chubby persuasion myself. But damn. Let me get to know you before I find out how pinched your little buttocks are, and how scary that errr...frontal part is. Gah.

Annettes

potato_chip_eating_geek 2004-04-26 07:30:04 AM
I think he is pretty cool. I admire that he was able to complete all the lights and find all the parts to make a good costume.

Malachilenomade 2004-04-26 07:30:53 AM
commenters were savage, vicious, and brutal. They acted just like a bunch of 9th-graders putting down the new geeky kid in class.

Ya know, this is why I don't like the internet... it's loaded with losers just like this guy describes, whose soul purpose in life is to get off work at the local Burger Barn, come home to mom's basement and rag things online like they've actually done ANYTHING in their lives. They tend to ACT like they have the amazing college education (and bearly got out of high school, if they're even old enough to be in high school), the tired old "I know more than you" mentality, etc. Sure, the net gave everyone a voice, but some of the voices need to be silenced just based on the pure stupidity they spew out to get their little woodies.

Though, admittedly, that costume is sorta silly... the yellow just isn't doing it ;)

Undertoad [TotalFark] 2004-04-26 07:31:31 AM
But if it didn't show his nuts, not enough people would share the link to the site and it wouldn't be a phenomenon.

The nuts are, in fact, a critical part of this guy getting passed around the net.

And that, in turn, means that we have reached the total point of insanity in this culture, where it was probably inevitable that we would see some guy's nut outline. Because that's what the internet does, it shares the fringes. If not this guy's nuts, deez nuts (sorry) or some other nuts.

I'm not in any way a prude, but I am a little scared.

hawkman332 2004-04-26 07:31:38 AM
There's one chick on that site that said he's kinda sexy.....she must need glasses.

We need to photoshop this looser into depression...come on, you know you all wanna....

Fark_Q 2004-04-26 07:33:54 AM
I think the Fark Squirel in a tr0n photoshop would be inevitable...

DrBenway [TotalFark] 2004-04-26 07:35:37 AM
Wait... HE posted to Slashdot about it originally? "Hey, OVER HERE! Check out my new 'KICK ME' pants!!!"

mcflizzy 2004-04-26 07:38:01 AM
To buck the trend of abject malevolency this thread is likely to produce, I'd like to give a thumbs up to Mr Maynard for his creativity and perserverance.

To the rest of you sorry sacks of immaturity, grow up and realize that physique has nothing to do with creative endeavors.

Lambasting his groinal faux pas is cruel and vindictive. Do you have a package? Then have some damn sympathy for the man. You should know they don't always behave as the owner would like.

Again, best wishes to your hobby, Mr Maynard. It sure beats seeing yet another vaccuum formed storm trooper :)

mtman900 2004-04-26 07:39:35 AM
As with all internet sites, Fark isn't without it's crude and meanspirited. However, there is a sight difference when you put such a large "kick me" sign in your pubic area.

I salute your bravery. Good man.

Surlyjohn 2004-04-26 07:39:43 AM
I'm confused. Do you have to be Samoan to get a link posted to fark? If so, that explains a lot.

Bonkthat_Again [TotalFark] 2004-04-26 07:40:37 AM
Just give him back his red stapler already...so he'll shut up.

UDel_Kitty [TotalFark] 2004-04-26 07:41:05 AM
You know, props to creativity...

I really don't remember the actors in Tron looking that nasty in spandex, but I haven't seen the movie in awhile, so maybe I'm wrong...

but yes, something about him and star wars kid...cousins?

Dirtydan 2004-04-26 07:44:13 AM
I hope Budwiser hops on this media bandwagon and makes him into a Real Men of Genius commercial. Here's to you Moose Knuckle Tron Suit Guy.

sir.hopalot 2004-04-26 07:45:50 AM
It was the side on shots of him in his suit that 'turned' me on to this sad w4nker, long may he live on in netlore...

RandalPnk 2004-04-26 07:47:12 AM
Oh come on, to hell with all the "he's doing something creative, yay for him" crap. He makes doing nothing like good.

ManCalledFoot 2004-04-26 07:47:26 AM
What guy joining the what of what like what and what?

theAngrybuddhist 2004-04-26 07:49:01 AM
You know, i'm thinking of getting an exact replica of tobey maguires spider-man costume. He's like what? 5-11? maybe 160 LB?. I'll wear it too. I'm 6'6 270.. I'll post pictures of me on in it, on my website. Then i'll be forever known as the freakishly tall fat guy in the spiderman costume. MMMMM disturbing.

Rillion [TotalFark] 2004-04-26 07:50:20 AM
Eh, I don't see you guys biatching about girls who wear shirts through which you can see their nipples. There isn't much different about this except that it happens to be a guy. I suppose you've never been to the ballet? Or a renaissance faire, for that matter?

SimuLord 2004-04-26 07:52:42 AM
Wait a minute...he's calling Farkers and Slashdotters juvenile and immature...while he's whining about it in his Livejournal?

Anyone else notice the irony in that? What's next, he writes some angsty poem about how nobody understands him?

Wanker.

highwebl 2004-04-26 07:52:44 AM
Wow, I wish all these people wouldn't critique me.

That's why I posted pictures of myself in a skintight suit to slashdot.

It's sure annoying having everyone look at me.

I'm sure glad I put the pictures in a place with enought bandwidth.

/WTF?

orindlt 2004-04-26 07:53:43 AM
Wonder who would win in a fight between this guy and that Optimus Prime dude?

mtman900 2004-04-26 07:55:12 AM
Rillion- Everyone has rights to not want to see what they don't want to see. Personnally, I am all for the "naked girls". However, I am not for "male testicles pressed up against this guy's body".

JoeCamelToe 2004-04-26 07:56:16 AM
All he needs is a cup.

...and better painting technique.

pour_soul 2004-04-26 07:56:52 AM
ride the tiger, baby

ride that farking tiger!

and when you get off, give them all a big shiat eating grin and inform them that their mother's vaginas smell like popcorn shrimp.

"To buck the trend of abject malevolency this thread is likely to produce, I'd like to give a thumbs up to Mr Maynard for his creativity and perserverance."

And almost in the same breath you say:

"It sure beats seeing yet another vaccuum formed storm trooper"

Do only certain kinds of shut-in basement dwelling freaks have the "creativity and perserverance" you speak of? I've never seen a vacuum form storm trooper before. Sounds just as creative (in a maladjusted, social misfit kind of way) to me ;)

Rillion [TotalFark] 2004-04-26 08:00:10 AM
Everyone has rights to not want to see what they don't want to see.

Err, no they don't. You can choose not to look at something, but you don't have a right to make things go away just because you don't want to see them. If this guy was walking down the street toward you, you could avert your eyes but you don't have the right to stop him from doing it. Luckily, the law does not only protect pretty people.

BLIAD THE IMPALER 2004-04-26 08:00:28 AM

I've seen a terrible vision of my
future.... I'm a geeky office worker
with glasses and you can totally see
my balls in this suit because I've
gotten so farkin' fat. I'm gonna let
the OCP win. For the good of all humanity.
