Brilliant!!! Now all it needs is the ability to fly and the hovercraft modification and we officially have the car of the future promised to us in the 50's.

culbeda 2004-04-11 05:08:03 PM
Too bad only the Japanese will be able to fit in it.

BloodyL 2004-04-11 05:52:00 PM
I'm glad it's only a concept. I'd take the Volvo Concept Car over that, even though you can probably open the Prius' hood!

RickTheVote 2004-04-11 06:10:31 PM
I've seen uglier.

bird2112 2004-04-11 06:43:28 PM
The CS&S was first shown nearly a year ago. This however was just shown at Geneva. Can you say 400 hp Hybrid Supra Boys and Girls?

http://autoweek.com/specials/2004_geneva/volta/pages/index.htm

ThatDevGuy [TotalFark] 2004-04-11 06:55:19 PM
CS&S also unveils "Toyota Space Touch," where the driver selects functions by "touching" holographic projections.

That would be awesome.

Nodbody 2004-04-11 08:10:52 PM
Why are all the ecocars so fugly?

CheekyMunky [TotalFark] 2004-04-11 08:22:38 PM
I don't care how ugly it is - if it's cleaner, I'll drive one as soon as I can afford it.

Rosalea 2004-04-11 09:10:59 PM
personally I think it's pretty cool looking.

blackstrain 2004-04-11 11:11:18 PM
It looked better when it was the batmobile.

Doonyman 2004-04-11 11:11:46 PM
A bar of soap with four wheels! Wheeee!

Petekill 2004-04-11 11:12:06 PM
its not that bad looking, i've seen much worse

ISV_Damocles 2004-04-11 11:12:33 PM
Just paint it black, put on red trim and really big fins on the back...

To the Batmobile!

michaeltrout 2004-04-11 11:13:12 PM
I think ecocars are so fugly because all of the major car manufacturers probably own lots of stock in oil companies. And vice versa. My own small conspiracy theory.

Doonyman 2004-04-11 11:13:24 PM

ISV_Damocles 2004-04-11 11:13:24 PM
Damm you, blackstrain! Damn YOU!

Sim Tree [TotalFark] 2004-04-11 11:14:10 PM
There are more "regular-looking" gaseolectric cars out now, if one is really in the market. That's what I plan on buying in 2-3 years, regardless if gas is still $2.00+ / gal.

Wow, every time I refresh fark, there's a few more articles. This is cool. *-* Fark as far as the eye can see.

Rangsk 2004-04-11 11:14:33 PM
Since when do cars have to look like an elephant shat it out?

assneck 2004-04-11 11:14:56 PM
Just make sure Chim-Chim and Spritle aren't in the trunk when you enter the race with Racer-X.

Another_Angry_Goth 2004-04-11 11:15:13 PM
I actually like it. AND it's a hybrid.

/once you go hybrid, you never go back.

These are not the droids you're looking for 2004-04-11 11:15:28 PM
Doonyman - I dont get it.

mookiedood 2004-04-11 11:16:33 PM
Thunderbirds are go!

Haos 2004-04-11 11:17:15 PM
I would buy it. Anything with curves is good. Better looking than this

Slapula 2004-04-11 11:18:39 PM
uh, where the fark is the windshield?

somemoron 2004-04-11 11:19:01 PM
I dunno. I think it looks kinda cool. I'm sick and tired of all these cars today that take no chances and all look like the genetic consequences of Southern intermarriage. They all look the exact same, and are all fugly.

At least it is different. I would have loved to own a Mustang concept car too. *sigh*

airzonk 2004-04-11 11:19:28 PM
That thing got Hemi?

jwrebholz 2004-04-11 11:21:58 PM
that is the weirdest looking thing I've ever seen.

Doonyman 2004-04-11 11:22:06 PM
This wouldn't make a good getaway car at all. Too easy to shoot the passengers.

mellon101 [recently expired TotalFark] 2004-04-11 11:23:01 PM
gotta do something .....
http://www.lifeaftertheoilcrash.net/

Slapula 2004-04-11 11:23:47 PM
...And there are no mirrors on this turd of a hybrid car. Yikes.

ScubaDoo 2004-04-11 11:24:05 PM
Anyone else think the front-end looks like a crazed cartoon character's face?

rebelgerbil 2004-04-11 11:24:14 PM

Your face is the windshield.

wydok 2004-04-11 11:25:01 PM
That's pretty nice (my wife doens't like it), but I think I prefer the Fine-N or the Fine-S. I espeically like the steering "wheel" on the Fine-N.

vjp 2004-04-11 11:25:09 PM
How could you boink your date in one of those?

lionfish [TotalFark] 2004-04-11 11:27:10 PM

an evil hybrid?

mylow 2004-04-11 11:27:19 PM
To bad we'll all be dead before this thing is ever built

nm [TotalFark] 2004-04-11 11:27:57 PM

How about a 400hp hybrid? 0-60 in 4sec and 31mpg.

KdiggityW 2004-04-11 11:28:04 PM
Now why can't there be more hybrids that look and perform like the Volta?
http://www.toyota.com/vehicles/future/volta.html

On second thought, if it ever went to production, it would probably have a MSRP of just under 700 Billion dollars.

vjp 2004-04-11 11:28:44 PM
That steering wheel looks like it would snap off in my hands.

No thanks, give me my Detroit-made lumbering steel giant with sucky fuel econonomy and oil dripping on the driveway.

ozloy 2004-04-11 11:30:07 PM
i would like to have a hybrid car, but not one that looks like that.

burkazoid2002 2004-04-11 11:32:00 PM
I am so afraid of the future, just because of cars like this....

I will say this once, and only once: You are an asshat.

neuracnu 2004-04-11 11:33:14 PM
Poster can go to hell. That car kicks ass.

CobraCC 2004-04-11 11:33:53 PM
good thing honda makes a civic hybrid

rebelgerbil 2004-04-11 11:34:06 PM
What we need to do is crush all the SUVs in the world, and then recycle them into some of these hybrids.

Duyogurt 2004-04-11 11:35:44 PM
It looks like the taxi from Who Framed Rodger Rabbit.

/really, it does.

I give you 3/5 on the troll scale. Personally, I thought it was a poor effort, but it elicited some reaction, so bonus points.

BrotherIshmael 2004-04-11 11:36:08 PM
I like the fact it's a hybrid, but damn, it's ugly as shiat. Maybe I'm not just lagging behind the times or something.

There's always the tried and true "doggystyle-over-the-hood" approach.
