Jabber 2004-04-11 04:25:17 PM
Summary of all the horror stories:

1) Girls asks dude to move across country to move in with her. He raises the money and she says, "Forget it, I already have roommates now"

2) Girl gets freaked out because date likes corsets.

3) Girl got heart broken by guy who seduced alot of women online.

4) Guy got duped by 2 women who look nothing like their profile pictures.

5) Guy promises to take girl back-stage at concert, but stops talking to her right before the day of the concert.

6) Women jaded by losers who responded to her ad.

7) Woman gets weirded out by momma's boy who tries to force her into sex.

8) Dude looks like a lady.

9) Guy stands up girl after driving by first to check her out.

10) Woman who meets lots of guys online waxes poetically.

None of them seem too horrific (except 7 and 8). I was hoping for more blood and guts or stalker stories, but what do you expect? Online dating is different from conventional dating, but it's no better or worse. You'll find psychos either way if you try hard enough.

I wish I would have read the summary instead of the article.

mizike 2004-04-11 05:05:44 PM
So I was totally chatting up this hot 13 year old chick with like 34B's when she suggests meeting at this cheap motel because she likes to lick and suck things. Anyhow, there I am at the door of room 3f with a bottle of Boone's Farm and some quaaludes when this moustached guy with a badge and a gun starts sayin' all this stuff about going to jail for being a sicko pervert. Turns out he was just some guy that lures guys that like just a little grass on the playing field to his room for sex. Well, at least I got a reach around.

Props to Jabber for saving me time.

Met my husband 10 years ago online. Married him. Still married. He's a real sweetheart and I love him to pieces.

Guess it ain't always so bad after all, huh?

Sid_6.7 [TotalFark] 2004-04-11 07:56:07 PM
I dated a psycho like this once. She lives about three hours away, I went to meet her over spring break (mmmm.... college, and she was one year behind me).

The week kicked ass. Sex was hot, best sex ever, we lost track of how many times the first weekend alone.

Then she came down to see me the next week, and the week after we went to Canada for her spring break.

Turns out she had been in abusive relationship for two years prior with someone who was borderline personality. She's been psychologically projecting him onto me the entire time, and as soon as I didn't treat her like crap when something went wrong, she flipped out and it went downhill rapidly...because I was too nice and she couldn't handle not being emotionally and physically abused. Not her fault, and thankfully she's been getting better. I still talk to her sometimes, and she moved cross country. But it was damn emotionally painful to be in love with someone when they only loved you because they were deluding themselves into thinking you were someone you weren't.

Sid_6.7 [TotalFark] 2004-04-11 07:58:02 PM
Okay, my tenses are all screwed up in the last post, sorry about that... she did live 3 hours away before moving... mainly to get away from her previous ex.

Gunboat 2004-04-11 10:07:06 PM
Sid_6.7, the hot sex should've tipped you off. Beware of crazy girl sex.

crossbuster 2004-04-11 10:11:53 PM
met my girlfriend online. We've been together for over 2 years, now.

Born2Die 2004-04-11 10:12:05 PM
All the stories are the same aren't they?...."She ended up being (wicked fat/a dude)."

drdamned 2004-04-11 10:12:31 PM
My wife and I met on yahoo personals. It was practically love at first site. We were married in Vegas just this past February.

Hail_Eris! 2004-04-11 10:14:20 PM
mizike's story totally owns Sid_6.7's.
(and gets me hornier)

Xellchiri 2004-04-11 10:14:28 PM
Horror story #11:

"Hey, honey, did I mention I'm the avatar incarnate of an omnipotent Goddess, and I can see into the future and do magic?"

"..."

"No, really."

"Bye."

JackBurton 2004-04-11 10:14:56 PM
This one time, at cyber-band camp...

Bagu 2004-04-11 10:16:01 PM
Met a girl online.
Fell in love.
Moved to DC.
Got my heart dropkicked.

I really don't blame her. Perhaps she played me, perhaps she just wanted friends. I still care a lot about her, so everything is my loss basically.

But damn, women can be evil...

Byrd 2004-04-11 10:17:19 PM
I second Gunboat's statement.

kumanoki 2004-04-11 10:17:25 PM
I am SO glad I don't have to deal with this type of thing. Even if I were single, I just don't think I could meet people online. Call me old fashioned, but if you want to meet people, you have to go outside.

Kazan 2004-04-11 10:19:10 PM
everyone in that article are a bunch of whiners and losers - i met my girl online (it was only across campus though.. but still) - i could tell a real possibility from an utterly absurd loser

Death_Toll 2004-04-11 10:20:19 PM

DoctaCheeko 2004-04-11 10:20:59 PM
Well duh you have to go outside to meet the people you met online..

Corporate Mofo [TotalFark] 2004-04-11 10:21:46 PM
I met my girlfriend online. Her name is Veronica Zemanova.

Wait, do imaginary girlfriends count?

darkhorse23 [TotalFark] 2004-04-11 10:23:30 PM
If they are real in your own mind, Mofo, then they count

Xaerocool 2004-04-11 10:24:02 PM
I met my girlfriend online 5 months. And on wednesday she dumped me.

RockIsDead 2004-04-11 10:26:18 PM
Jebus Chibus, if those are the WORST you folks have NOTHING to biatch about.

Those read like any other mediocre date report list to me.

jonr 2004-04-11 10:26:52 PM
bargirl24, me too!
Wanna date? :P

DeathOfRats 2004-04-11 10:26:58 PM
I met this woman, sxyjenna_klajsdflkja..she needed help with her webcam..im thinking of asking her to marry me.

Undertoad [TotalFark] 2004-04-11 10:26:59 PM
My stories:

...are all good. Sorry. They have been correctly respresented by their profile and picture. Every date has been cool and although not every connection works out, I have no regrets. Some of the stories in that article are talking about Craigslist, which I for one would never do because there is no profile and no picture. I don't get it. How is anyone gonna match up with someone so anonymous that they're just three sentences?

mikesum32 2004-04-11 10:27:13 PM
Internet dating is evil.

I chatted up this girl and we decided to catch a movie.

So, I meet this girl at the movies and she said, "well at least your clean".

WTF?

Yeah, I love being insulted. Then we go into the movie and she sees this young couple, and asks the girl if she is bi.

Okay. Weirded Out.

We find a seat, and I think that we could just watch the movie and it couldn't get any worse.

Wrong.

She finds this black guy to sit on her right, and I'm on her left. Then, as the movie is going, she start playing with his, um, lincoln log.

Then as she's about to go down on him(in a theater) I get the hell out of there.

Sorry for punctuation, spelling, and grammar

/too tired to make the story good

OBB 2004-04-11 10:27:42 PM
I met my ex-gf online. Got dumped in early September because we were too far away, and she started going with a guy exactly like me, who's moved in with her now.

But yeah, meeting people online can work out ok!

fac3less 2004-04-11 10:28:23 PM
hm, met her online a few years ago.
failing.
miserably.

El Dangeroso 2004-04-11 10:28:37 PM
Sid_6.7, those abused girls are bad news. They lure you in then shred you to pieces.

How many of those horror stories are a result of Fark personals?

PinkFloyd 2004-04-11 10:29:56 PM
Met this guy online about 4 years ago, fell in love with him, got married,he did a complete 180 sexually, emotionally, physically, and everything else,..13 months later I divorced him...moral of the story? there is none, I just got involved with an asshole

mikesum32 2004-04-11 10:29:58 PM
Bagu, did you get any "priceless" revenge?

Emperor-Jay 2004-04-11 10:30:25 PM
One girl I MOL turned out to be a mazzik demon who was luring handsom young men to her lair to serve as hosts for her parasitric young. I escaped because I was too fatty for her children's diet.

Prancemaster 2004-04-11 10:31:19 PM
My male friend met a lady online who appeared at least 15 years older than she claims her age is, showed up 40 minutes late, made him pay for the dinner at a restaurant and demanded to him that she drive her home. While my friend drove her home, she tried TO RAPE him in his own car!

moogleofdoom 2004-04-11 10:31:49 PM
Met a girl online when I was in grade 8. We talked until grade 12 (my senior year in highschool) and I made the 7 hour trek to see her. It was fun. She came up to see me a few weeks later. Sex was good. Went back to see her and she ignored me. Now she has me blocked on aim. Girls can be funny sometime.

Brewski_OR 2004-04-11 10:32:14 PM
You know what really sucks..... when someone dumps you before you even meet them in real life... that sucks....real bad

chillard 2004-04-11 10:32:30 PM
good gawd i'm glad i'm married, and don't have to put up with any of that shat.

/totally different shat altogether

SimuLord 2004-04-11 10:33:15 PM
Met my girlfriend online through this very site, and seven months in, it's so far so good.

That's not to say I haven't had my share of horror stories; one in particular was a nineteen-year-old girl whose hairstyle and color made her look like my grandmother. So I put on my best "no girl would ever want to come within ten miles of me" act, like Jackie Gleason-meets-Denis Leary, and let her think it was her idea not to have a second date.

ArnoldLayne 2004-04-11 10:34:49 PM
Well I'm not like those other online guys...

Jodibug0975 2004-04-11 10:37:47 PM
Met my husband on AO-Hell four years ago. Our wedding was four weeks ago.

8) Dude looks like a lady.

Hahaha...

effugas 2004-04-11 10:40:46 PM
Gee, American dating is a mess?

/News at 11

MileHiGuy 2004-04-11 10:41:03 PM
Most online dating females fit into one (or more) of three categories - psychotic, disillusioned or princess wannabes. It's great motivation to stay unattached and spend my money on great cars and a couple of great dogs!

proton 2004-04-11 10:41:36 PM
Sid_6.7, Wow. I thought I was the only one. All jokes asside, It does hurt to see someone you helped turn all scizo on ya. I agree, it's that back end training you have to worry about. I've been there and done that. I'm fairly certain the 3 kids she had afterwords with the original 'Get my turkey pot pie biatch' father are probably wishin they had a real father. Any way...

That said, if you looking for love on line, then let the truth be known.

"Life is like a box of chocolates. Ya never know what your gonna get:

/never dated online snapper\

Bagu 2004-04-11 10:41:57 PM
mikesum32,

nope, I'm not like that.

unless she's a serious, serious biatch...then, paint your own picture.

SlipperyWhenWet 2004-04-11 10:42:23 PM
Online-dating is like a "blind date". There are horror and success stories. Taking the risk makes you vulnerable. It takes courage to make yourself vulnerable. Then again, you might miss out on the best thing in your life, or you might learn a lot.

/learned from experience

strokerace23 [TotalFark] 2004-04-11 10:43:05 PM
Met a girl on-line in the old "powwow" chat program. She showed me a picture of herself and we talked on the phone several times. Her picture made her out to be a beauty! Before we met, she told me that the girl in the pic was not her, but rather her sister. She also informed me that she was overweight, a little overwieght. So, being a stupid college kid, I agreed to meet her at her. She must have weighed over 200 pounds, but didn't look at bad in the face. I acted like I wanted nothing to do with a relationship. One night we were talking on the chat program and she asked if we could be "**ck buddies!" I thought about it and again, being a horny college student, thought that it couldn't do no harm, decided to take her up on it. She came to my apartment and we **ucked like rabbits for the night. We did this several times. She was the first girl that let me experience anal. I would have never took her out in public so I made her come to my apartment after midnight when she wanted some. True story!

enave 2004-04-11 10:44:35 PM
I met a girl who I first saw on one of those Fark personals. Her nick was butteredasian. At first I thought she would be full of herself but through emails and talking on the phone she seemed pretty nice. So here's where it gets weird. We go on our first date, and you're not going to believe this, we are eating dinner and she uses a knife to cut up her salad! What is that about? I asked her very politely to stop but I didn't want to make a big scene about it so I just told her with my inner voice. You know? She wouldn't stop! Way to say fark you on a first date! What was I supposed to do? I drug her outside by her hair and stuffed her into the trunk of my car. That was a few months ago. I haven't heard from her since. I guess she's probably still in the trunk. Man, there are some real wierdos out there. Aren't there? Oh well, better luck next time.
