I did at one point, except for the drunken part. 4 cents a word. I wrote a column for my university student newspaper. No editing, frequent typos and layout errors, somewhat lax grammar and very little relevence. Best thing in that sorry rag. It's not that my column was so great, but that every thing else sucked like a black hole.

I thought it was an amusing article - better than most drivel we see everyday.

I'm not sure exactly what transpired in the original non-shovelling situation, but one of the really awesome things about where I live is that the sidewalks get plowed by the city.

Sure, it's paid for as part of property taxes (and it's seperated out as a specific service, so it's not deductable from income taxes), but it's nice to just kinda sit on my ass as snow falls and know that it's the city's problem.

We don't get The Sun in the mail so I don't read it that often, but when I do it's because my grandpa takes the copy that belongs to either McDonalds or Burgerking...yes that's right he takes the copy of the paper that belongs to fast food joints, and napkins :)

That's the least professionally written bit of journalism I've seen in a major paper since a _Columbus Dispatch_ editorial this summer emphasized a point by following it up with, "Duh!"

That's not counting everything in Chicago's _Red Streak_ and _Red Eye_, of course, which is all written in that style.

Although the article is kind of a mess, I agreed with his point. When that whole media storm was going on around Olga I thought two things:

1) why is this on the news? (and I was getting this story in CALGARY while it was taking place in Edmonton).

2) Shovel your bloody sidewalk, biatch, and quitchyer whinin', especially because your defense is so immensely stupid.

She got warnings. She didn't even bother to put down sand or salt after she got the warnings. As a pedestrian who regularly has to navigate icy stretches in front of the homes of lazy asshats like her, I would be the first to put a flaming bag of dog poo on her front step and then narc on her to the bylaw officer.
